It may have already been speculated, but...

Why not a "Stairway to Heaven" LE with "All-That-Glitters-is-Gold" armor, like Metallica's "Master of Puppets" LE with glittery silver armor?

Main shot from upper flipper is a piston target?
Please tell me that's wrong.
And where's the gameplay teaser clip of the models?

#1028 3 years ago

Hard plunge to "Hot Shot" reversing ramp to the right flipper?
Or hard plunge to "L-E-D" stand-ups just below the Hot Shot entrance?

Center Ramp from Upper Flipper?

Stern's gameplay teaser clips for both models point out how the center ramp is accessible from all three flippers. I do see a 2" rubber on the left side of the ramp entrance. Does that allow for a bounce/carom from the upper flipper up the ramp, a la the Sninkt Shot on DP? I don't see such a bounce happen in any of the MB footage in either clip. I'm just fishing for more shots from that upper flipper, since, for the moment, I see only the shots to the L-E-D targets, the Hot Shot ramp, and - possibly - a sweep of the Z-E-P drops. I don't see a sweep of the Z-E-P targets by a shot from the upper flipper in either of the clips, but the shot path does seem to be there.

Center Ramp Clear When Magic Mech is Up?

What shots are clear/visible and which are blocked when the rising Magic mech is up? It looks like there's a narrow lane to the center ramp when the mech is up. And what does the ball strike behind it if you rip the spinner? Is there a chance a rip from the right flipper will strike the Icarus Leaper mech? Could a rip from the left flipper sneak all the way past into the pops, maybe even threading the pops?

Stephen Jensen is the Lead Artist on LZ, with Greg Freres as Art Director.

If you're curious about Mr. Jensen's graphic-arts work, I *believe* this is a gallery of his work.
He's based in IL and, if you look at the image of the would-be fireman's grip about midway down, you can see the same radiating line work that is so evident in the LZ PF.
If I'm wrong, I apologize for the red herring, but it seemed to add up.
His only other pinball Art credit on IPDB is X-Men, with Kevin O'Connor.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

Hell yeah! Love that the lighting can be added to the pro.

If this is true, the PRO's must ship with the channels cut in the interior cabinet sides, a bit like those of STLE. But how do said channels look if they're not covered by the artblades? Sure, the interior sides are painted in the standard satin black, but I would wager those channels are quite visible unless they're plugged.

Quoted from cooked71:

So $850 is cheap now? It’s a pretty lame effort as usual.
So glad I haven’t been sucked in to this whole topper obsession.

Is there a clip of the topper in action?
Do those searchlights have enough intensity to really dance on my ceiling?
If there were four of them I must justify a $300 sticker.
Sad that they will sell briskly nonetheless.

Three Key Shots, Observed or *Not* Observed in the Stream:

1. Center Ramp from upper flipper?

2. Sweep of Z-E-P drops from upper flipper?

3. Right flipper shot, through Electric Magic spinner, up and around Center Ramp?

Quoted from Elvishasleft:

Ugh... I had those f-ing sears pants that were so stiff you couldnt bend your legs. thanks mom.

My Old Man bought Sears "Tough Skins" for me. If there were Levi's then, they must have been too expensive as I never had a pair. Tough Skins were stiff, but not really tough. When the knees invariably wore through, Sears also sold iron-patches, and they were just about inflexible, thanks to the thick layer of iron-on glue. Add the patches to the already stiff pants and you basically have chainmail. Oh, and they were either "flares" or bell-bottoms. "Boot cut" was temporarily out of fashion then.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

I had a Cleveland Browns one. Loved the nfl section for sure and also the Sears catalog at Christmas time showing the new Star Wars toys.

More than anything, the Sears Christmas catalog stoked my excitement about Christmas. It arrived in October as reliably as the phone book - and was just about as large! The toys were always in the back hundred-or-so pages and leafing through them was sure to create an instant dream list. I even remember the Kenner Alien action figure in '79. Too young to see the movie, of course, but the monster still loomed large in my imagination! It had a projecting tongue, actuated by squeezing the bony projections on his back. If you still have yours, list it on eBay and watch the bid reach four-figures! Or trade it to the Pinball Brothers for a deposit on an Alien pinball!
