Just stating when it was recorded for people who don’t know.
Listening to the podcast about ruleset and honestly this sounds overly complex. I really hope this is not another Star Wars math game.
Multiple levels of fractional based multipliers. Ugghhhhh
Also kind of lame that Tim is giving Dwight credit for Co-op mode. That is 100% from spooky with TNA
Quoted from Whysnow:Multiple levels of fractional based multipliers. Ugghhhhh
I don't think it'll be complicated for the player, the rule itself is pretty straightforward on how to increase the values. The machine can deal with the actual math.
Quoted from Lounge:Too bad you can’t get a pro cabinet with a premium playfield.
I really think they got this one backwards.
I totally agree!
Quoted from Whysnow:Also kind of lame that Tim is giving Dwight credit for Co-op mode. That is 100% from spooky with TNA
Tim could be reusing code Dwight wrote and/or helped him designing his own implementation.
He didn’t say Dwight invented it did he?

That is how it came off. All credit for co-op being cool and he wish he knew how cool it would be from Dwight/turtles earlier in his programming of zeppelin
The rest of us paying attention know it was cool when Scott brought it to life w TnA.

Scott did create it, but don’t deny Dwight greatly expanded on the idea on TMNT
Quoted from TreyBo69:but don’t deny Dwight greatly expanded on the idea on TMNT
Did he? How? (never played it on TMNT)

I hope it is fun to play. I find Star Wars to be tedious due to the code.
Sometimes hearing someone describe it on a podcast cane make is sound much more complex than it is in reality.
Quoted from cooked71:Did he? How? (never played it on TMNT)
Players 1-3 can pick different turtles and strategically setup big opportunities for the next player.
Also if one player gets to a mini wizard mode like team up, it will be lit for the next player too so they can play it as well.
Probably more, but I can’t remember

And also other options like teams and 3 v 1
But yeah. There is a whole strategic element that opens up with turtle powers, the order of turns/turtles, and player skill level being paired with a particular turtle.
TNA co-op was an amazing new feature. TMNT greatly fleshed out the concept of team play
But ultimately it just sorta rubbed me the wrong way of Whysnow trying to add drama or some slight to an innocuous comment. Like come on. He’s just being nice to his coworker.

Whysnow and drama?!? What?
Quoted from TKDalumni:Are they streaming the Pro or Premium on Friday?
Didn’t say in the ads. Probably the LE. They seem to have been pretty consistent with LE recently then a pro shortly afterwards on other channels.
Quoted from TreyBo69:But ultimately it just sorta rubbed me the wrong way of Whysnow trying to add drama or some slight to an innocuous comment. Like come on. He’s just being nice to his coworker.
No drama. I just value the accuracy of the history in pinball. Would be nice to see Stern employees give credit where it is due. Rubbed me the wrong way to hear Tim make is sound like Dwight was the original person.
We see a very nice level of accountability and accolades between JJP and Spooky. That is enjoyable.
Quoted from TKDalumni:Are they streaming the Pro or Premium on Friday?
Jack Danger said on his stream last night he thinks it's LE.
Quoted from onemilemore:Jack Danger said on his stream last night he thinks it's LE.
Wish was a premium since that will be the one the majority of HUO owners most likely will buy. I know premium and LE will play the same but would like to see the premium instead being showcased. But will be interesting to see how the LE artwork looks on video.

Sega / Stern has co-op scoring well before Scott. 2 players on each team and it combined the scores.

You’re most likely only going to see the playfield on video.
Quoted from kermit24:Sega / Stern has co-op scoring well before Scott. 2 players on each team and it combined the scores.
Not really co-op. No progress is shared between players. Just makes it more convenient than doing some simple math
Quoted from chuckwurt:You’re most likely only going to see the playfield on video.
What good is a game play stream if you can't see the side art? After reading this thread it seems like that's what everyone is judging the game on. Personally i like the cabinet art, but i also know it will never be seen in my collection because most likely it will be sandwiched in between other games. I'm Looking forward to the stream to see how it shoots and what they did with code. From what i've heard so far the rules sound very cool.
Quoted from chuckwurt:You’re most likely only going to see the playfield on video.
Guarantee you they will at least lightly review the game inside and out before streaming gameplay.. especially with the criticism this $9k tub of rainbow sherbet is getting.
Quoted from Chuckwebster:From what i've heard so far the rules sound very cool.
I’m very intrigued by the ruleset too. Seems like it will be not too simple and not too complex. 5 mins to learn, life time to master kind of deal.
Quoted from kermit24:Sega / Stern has co-op scoring well before Scott. 2 players on each team and it combined the scores.
Team is different than cooperative play.
To be accurate, Shea had some games with up to 6 players. You could play 3 v 3!!!
You thought a single player game could be long on some. Lol
Quoted from chuckwurt:I’m very intrigued by the ruleset too. Seems like it will be not too simple and not too complex. 5 mins to learn, life time to master kind of deal.
GOT level would be perfect!
Quoted from TreyBo69:Not really co-op. No progress is shared between players. Just makes it more convenient than doing some simple math
I understand your point. But to proclaim that Scott is the first to ever conceive of co-op / team is just wrong.

Name a game where you share progress among players before TNA
Progressive jackpots maybe a distant relative to co-op. Lock stealing is taking advantage of other players.
Quoted from corvair61:Guarantee you they will at least lightly review the game inside and out before streaming gameplay.. especially with the criticism this $9k tub of rainbow sherbet is getting.
That’s why I was hoping it would be the premium because I want to see what the production art work is going to look like.
Quoted from TreyBo69:Name a game where you share progress among players before TNA
Shared progress is a first. It’s an extension of combined scoring. Progress. At some point it’s just semantics. I love Scott’s contribution. Big fan of TNA. I’d argue that Dwight took what Scott did and added some cowbell to it.

Chuck, online and in person, you’re always the voice of reason and positivity and that’s why you’re always A-OK in my book. Hope Disco is treating you well, and hope we can play together in 2021!

I really like the Icarus playfield X rules. Unlike Munsters where you just bash the target over and over, the multiplier is built by combos and fractional to the tenth of an X. Tim's explanation of that and mentioning holding off on hitting Icarus to get a huge X sounded compelling. Also adding time to the X is with the Hermit target/Reverse ramp which looks like a tough shot.
Quoted from Yoko2una:Chuck, online and in person, you’re always the voice of reason and positivity and that’s why you’re always A-OK in my book. Hope Disco is treating you well, and hope we can play together in 2021!
Thanks for the kind words! Disco Fever is awesome, i just need to change the music out for Led Zeppelin until my game arrives
The art package is really poor compared to any games released lately (playfield included). The premium is probably the laziest I’ve ever seen, probably looks like 5min tops work, same pic everywhere.
Now Aerosmith is the *kind* of art that Stern is capable of doing and this is what I was expecting - a proper and respectful treatment of this iconic band - not some phoned in lazy slop.
So here it is, imagine just taking the same art approach for Led Zep as for Aerosmith by people who actually care about making something special. Imagine what the art on Led Zep could have looked like if someone cared.

This is what Stern is capable of. Look at how the LE pops and everything goes together (including armor). Look at the playfield art.
So what the fk happened here w LZ? Fk. What a shame.
Now look how fn stupid this looks in comparison:

Showed the LZ to the wife. Wanted her gut feeling. She liked it compared to the Pro/Premium because it was colorful. Loved the color in the playfield ... Its the 60-70 vibe. Art is subjective but it passed my wife test. Any one in on LE have that conversation? Haters gonna hate. I see the design as Star Trek, Spiderman, ACDC. But I dont have them. I love the integrated lighting and psyched after hearing Tim discuss. I mean those that were losing their shit on the hotrails must see how the same applies to this game. It also sounded like he is planning cool stuff the lights and with the magnet spinner beyond just spin. If I must have one Steve Ritchie game and this is it. Might make the rails black but wife loves the blue
Now, see...I think Aerosmith is WAY too cartoon-y and I never understood WTF that joker on top of the toy chest had anything to do with Aerosmith (perhaps you can enlighten me?). I think the Zep playfield looks great. Not 10 great, but a solid 8.

Yes. Aerosmith is great but you assume that Led Zepp management would allow this kinda treatment. Listen to the podcast and you will here a guy that wrestled with a very stringent / narrow style guide. Dude was not lazy.
Quoted from spinal:Now Aerosmith is the *kind* of art that Stern is capable of doing
Now put yourself in sterns shoes and play hypothetical. What do you do when you present a playfield like this to the licensors and they deny it and want you do use certain specific assets on the playfield?
I’d love LZ to have the cabinets they currently have along with a playfield style like Aerosmith. That would’ve been awesome.
Quoted from jpc211245:Toys and toppers courtesy of hot wheels.[quoted image][quoted image]
Wow! How did the Stern art department get Hot Wheels to use their artwork?

Dude the licensor is what happened! Stern is not going to bash LZ management but they are not apparently willing to allow for expressive freedom with their IP. What you gonna do? Work with what they give you to the best you can iand incorporate into the game. I get the frustration as I would loved Franchi on this but don't look at Stern and say they are lazy ass phoning it in. Using the album art makes sense. Im not a fan but it does make sense. If the light show is amazing, the game shoots great, and its fun as hell then no one will care on side cab art.
Well the eternal excuse whenever the art is shit that their hands were tied by the licensor. I agree there could be more or less restrictions depending on the licensor, but there is still a lot of leeway and license that can be taken to produce something cohesive. I’m sorry, I know many of you love it, but my personal opinion is the playfield art looks like a talented high school artist did it for an assignment. It is a photoshop rainbow nightmare, disjointed and incohesive. Ridiculous really and one of the worst I’ve seen in many years.
I guess its a fitting nail in the coffin for this shit year we will never forget.
So basically I’m saying I don’t like the art.
D2395B78-F67A-4B2B-82C8-8E10F3F379D6.jpeg
Ok, I feel better now - had to get that out
What bothers me about the art is how the assets are just dropped in place without much regard to the inserts. Or that inserts couldn’t be moved to make the art more cohesive
It’s stuff like how pictures of the band are partly intruded by inserts with no real blending. Or how the zeppelin is the focal point of the play field and the inserts around it are just laid out in the most unimaginative way.
The slingshots are barely decorated for f sake
Quoted from metallik:Why are you so focused on mothership? That's just a 2007 greatest hits compilation released ostensibly to generate revenue. Historically it has nothing to do with the band. It's not even the first compilation.. Led Zeppelin Remasters came out in 1990.
I think Physical Graffiti would make an excellent backglass theme. Especially if you could stylize the head sideart into the sides of the building.
You might be right, but here's how I see it: Mothership is a compilation album, and if I understand this correctly, the pin features music from multiple albums. Both, the album, and the pinball machine were made to generate revenue, so let's just skip that element as there's no point discussing it. The Mothership design speaks to me and I see a few tricks that I could implement with it. I am not so much into about what is on the glass, as tastes vary, but more into how it is implemented, designed, and the tricks that I can play with illumination. Also, Black & White (or cream rather) + Red is a good combo IMO. You can never go wrong with that. If I ever get this pin, which is unlikely as I've never even listened to LZ, I'd definitely mod it so that it appeals to my tastes. This is meant to be a 4th alternative, and you're probably proposing the 5th Finally, the PF artwork isn't horrible... So, if the package is nicer, this pin could work for everyone, not just for the die hard LZ fans.

Yeah I showed the LE pictures to my wife as well and she also thought the blue looks fine and matched the cohesion with the head back box. I just don’t get it myself I think the Baby blue color choice was terrible and the contrast just does not match the overall aspect of the whole entire color palette of the game .
I’ll be getting a complete raw material metal set and I’m gonna powder coat my trim myself. Illusion copper metallic. I’ve got access to a metal fab shop and powder booth.
Onto other things ... I thought I saw someone state something about there being 5ish extra minutes of song time on top of the 10 "selectable" songs. Anyone know more on this? I also thought someone stated that Ocean and Stairway were in the wizard modes? I am guessing the ? is another song like StH but curious if others have heard details leak. I am assuming that like IMDN, there will be a wizard song or two. I think Stern made note/stressed selectable for that reason. If I was marketing at Stern I would just come out now and state if there are extra wiz songs to address that concern.
