- I like the pro art

- I like the premium side art a lot - but not that they just reused the same image for the backglass
If I owned this machine it would probably be the first backglass I ever changed

- LE art is just puke to me - don't like the art or armor colors at all

#103 3 years ago

It does seem like a big step backward from the amazing hand-drawn art packages they've been putting out lately. I feel like they must have been extremely limited by the licensor on this one.

Of the three I prefer the premium - it's lazy, but I think the black and white look sort of works. And I think the LE looks much better with plain ol' black trim.

#104 3 years ago

I knew that the majority would think the art was bad but the results are even surprising to me bc you're giving people an option to select just one of the three as good and still, the vast majority say they are all terrible.

I obviously agree. I thought stranger things art was a big disappointment but LZ makes that game seem like GB. Could be the worst three package cabinet ever from Stern. Even worse than GoT.

#105 3 years ago

The worst art package since GOT pro, actually I would take GOT pro artwork over any LZ. I'm sure there were some major licensing restrictions that limited Stern to what artwork they could use.

I just wish they would have incorporated Icarus somehow into the playfield and artwork.

Led Zeppelin was a little before my time, so I'm not really a fan. As a neutral observer, I get that the pins have art based on album covers. I think that if you were a fan of the band during the time, then you'll relate to the art and appreciate it. If your probably 50 or younger, then it's just not going to be your thing. As others have stated, a little variety would have been nice instead of using the same imagery on all surfaces of the cabinet/backglass, and personally I think a gold would have looked really nice on the LE instead of electric blue.

I’m always excited about new releases. So when I was browsing yesterday and saw that pictures were released, I was thrilled. Right up until the time I actually saw them. WTF? I’m a Pro guy, so that was the first one I looked at closely. I don’t think art needs to be great on a pinball machine, but it can’t be this bad. So I went to the second level and watched the Pro play video (and I would like to thank Stern in this case for releasing one early). Watching the video isn’t the same as actually playing it, but ouch. The emptiness, and dead ends... what? The shot just stops there? Huh?

After watching the Premium video, I understood the dead end on the Pro... and just rejected it out of hand.

So now this mess is down to rules. I’ve got a few games that I didn’t think were good until the rules came together to save the game. Star Trek, MET, games that were not great until the rules were finished. And others I didn’t fully appreciate until I learned them (like AC/DC). So there is a chance they could do something with it. But this game starts in a deep hole. Except it isn’t a hole, because I took out the hole to save a few bucks, it’s just a dead end.

That? At least LZ art comes straight from album covers. I just find it a bit odd they used the exact same art on all sides and translite. Pf is more important to me since that is what you spend most of the time looking at. Pf art looks pretty good actually.

I predict a reverse GNR...
people will dislike the art but love the gameplay not vice versa.

Le....wtf? Is that Robert plant coming out of the closet on the backglass as roberta? Is the icarus toy in all models? Thought mic on a stick would be the worst thing I ever saw in a pin. Now we have Greek porn. If I wanted to look at ripped naked man I'd just look in the mirror after I shower. If i wanted to feel good about my penis I'd take a look at lz le. Have to say the intro song on the reveal was the best part.

Pro= C
Prem= C-
Le = fn Z-

Just my opinion which in no way takes away from your opinion.

#111 3 years ago

So far the thread made me think of the manager and the t shirts.

#112 3 years ago

Don't you be making trans lights or anything else! (Without prior approval of course)

#113 3 years ago

I prefer the Premium over the others but wished for something more with the translite. With Sterns recent Pro cab art releases I was expecting more with this one but it is what it is with whatever license issues on this release. We all saw this with GOT and SW. The Pro is a step back for me as Stern seemed to be on a good roll with that model lately imo. I do like the pf art and look forward in seeing it in action.

Powder blue barf........What were they thinking?

#115 3 years ago
Quoted from Kkoss24:

I like Cary Hardy but he’s poking fun at the “baby blue” powder coating and I couldn’t help but notice his shirt .
[quoted image]

I was thinking the same thing the entire time he was talking about the color scheme, either he was trying to match, or it was a funny fail.

#116 3 years ago

The pro reminds me of yellow submarine. Would have worked well for the Beatles. When I first saw all three I was 100% convinced the images were a joke.

#117 3 years ago

Maybe a little harsh, but my initial reaction:

This reminds me a bit of various temperatures when you heat metal.

#120 3 years ago

That has got to be the worst art package for the three machines from Stern I've seen.

#121 3 years ago

I think Steve Ritchie should be ashamed to have his name associated with this game. Im no
Stern fan but this is anew low. They didnt even try.

It's probably fine in person, but for what the license is...

If they ever make a Floyd pinball I really hope they take a lesson from this and don’t just slap a prism triangle on the cab & back glass

#125 3 years ago
Quoted from TheCapn:

Nothing wrong with the color Baby Blue - just doesn't look good on this art package, man. I mean look at what else they could have done. White seems to be the favored version so far.[quoted image]

Issue there is I think they had to do something otherwise people buying an LE would scream " why no powder coated legs" etc what a rip off

Problem is the colors are already so wacky not much of anything would work.

Pick your color I think they will all look weird cause the whole package is weird color wise.

I really think that Cerulean Blue looks killer with the Swan Song Logo Artwork.

#127 3 years ago
Quoted from romulusx:

sure.. reminds me of when Elvira came out and everyone said it was the worst game that ever happened.

Now people are lined up to buy one and people pay NIB prices for used ones.

Pin collectors are a fickle bunch.

You might be mixing up whom stole that image from whom. Freefall was made in 1981 and that Swan Song image/art was adopted by Zeppelin in 74-76 era.

#130 3 years ago

So as i sat here looking at LZ and trying to convince myself that i still wanted one after seeing it my kids walked up and seen the machines. There responses were "There Trash" when they seen the cabinets and i 100% agree. Super disappointed in this games look and honestly only thing its got going for it is the sweet lineup of songs which i believe are a better group of songs then any other music pin ever but thats just my opinion. Playfield art is really bad, who wants to look at band faces and the Icarus right between the flippers is awful let alone Icarus on a stick is a complete joke. Only art i like is the Zepplein mid playfield blowing up. I never ever bash Stern since i love there gameplay but not this time Stern! Total letdown, canceled my order...

#131 3 years ago

Playfields:

I try to not be a debbie downer on this site, but I will say that I am not a fan of the photoshop art and really like the cartoon on many other games. Prior to seeing the Led Zepplin pin, I owned 2 games that I considered to be atrociously ugly. DE Jurassic Park and Last Action Hero. These games aren't just ugly, they are Fugly. Look at Newman's fingers here. After owning these games, I came to like the art and feel that it was charming. The first time I saw LZ I hated it and after having some more time to digest it... I really hate it. With that said, if it is nostalgic to you by all means go for it. These guys stopped touring before I was born and as such I was never interested in it on theme. There is hope this is a good player because Ritchie is on board. I loved my FUGLY DE JP and liked the LAH. All this means to you is that there will be less competition to get the game later on down the line.

Exactly. cait001 is clearly not a Zeppelin fan as she has ZERO knowledge of the band’s history and most iconic imagery along with the timelines associated with them.

#134 3 years ago

Pro and Prem definitely bland, LE minus the powder like 50 other people have said. And even that would be hard to stomach at the price point and having to change a brand new machine right away.

I'd rather have RotoDave's Freedom Led Zep retheme. Art is 10 times better than all 3 of these.

#135 3 years ago
Quoted from bonzo442:

Do not be surprised !
It will probably also have a

Going off topic about the art but I think it’s better to leave the signature of the designer off. That way you can have something unique when you go get your game signed by someone.

#137 3 years ago

Could people please keep posting pics of the LE? I used to hate it, but every time I see it, it gets better. Thanks in advance.

Quoted from Tranquilize:

Your post made me think. If these images were "leaked" a few weeks ago, would this still be the art packages. They would have been labeled as fakes and bashed, then forgotten. Another thing to consider is how many people were involved in the design processes. If these were the best of the bunch I would love to see the fails. There must have been some heated arguments on this one.

I think that's how Janice felt in the beginning of your relationship. But she eventually came around too. Well, until she met me.

The art is shockingly bad. I'm pretty open minded in general with art, but Prem and LE are just awful. It doesn't help that by contrast all of the GnR variants look incredible, and that was the last major comparable game announced.

Add to that the fact that the only art that is reasonably decent-- the Pro-- lacks what seems to be the most interesting feature of the machine in the electric magic toy.

At least for me what they've done is made a combination of artwork and features that make it so there really isn't any of the 3 that I want to buy. If I buy the one with the art I can stomach, I don't get the features I want.

Honestly it's so bad that it just makes me want to buy a GnR more, even though musically speaking I think I'd definitely prefer to play Led Zep.

I understand that it's a tricky business, keeping these things secret until announce, but I think this is a strong indicator that they should really consider offering additional art variants for each trim level if possible. That way if they swing and miss on one people can at least still buy the machine at the trim level they want by picking alternative artwork.

I'm not mixing anything up, I love that they share the same aesthetic.
I never said anything about stealing.

I think the art is about perfect as the whole design is intended to have a circa 1971-1977 feel and look and that is also how it is coded with video content. You will get all the album art and tour posters on the lcd from what I’ve seen/heard.
You can’t throw contemporary artwork on something intended to look vintage and true to the time.
Only place for improvement would be to make backglass less redundant to the sides of the cab.

#144 3 years ago
Quoted from modsbox:

See...I hate all but the LE. And the LE would look a lot better with the concert posters not all gallery oriented.

#145 3 years ago

LE with white trim (as shown on Cary Hardy's YouTube vid)

#146 3 years ago

1st one - the Pro would have been passable if it weren't on a white background. Black would have made it ok.

I think it looks amazing, all three are fantastic. this game looks like it will be a fun shooter as well. this is a new video of the game play I came across.

I agree with Beelzeboob. Heck, I always agree with him. As ugly as the LE is it's starting to grow on me.

#149 3 years ago

I’m into the LE art package. I could totally see it rocking a in 1970s Hollywood hills home where there is sex and drugs going wild! This machine sings like Plant! But it’s screaming PARTY!

#150 3 years ago

Someone predicted by day 2 you will get the "oh it's growing on me" crowd. I don't think this will ever grow on me, so if you want to save 9200 just put a GnR pic, both cabinet and playfield, right beside LZ ....... your welcome.
