Quoted from timab2000:I did not have sound issues until I put that chip in. So I tend to lean in the direction that there is something with the chip that the game does not like. I guess you can go on about other possibilities with the machine and you could be right, but can't there be a possibility that the chip is malfunctioning.
I have been down-and-out the last few weeks and have not been very active on the forums and really not on the computer any longer than necessary. I appreciate that several people have stepped in on this thread and tried to help with your issue(s) including barakandl who explained quite a bit about the incompatibility and possible resolutions. Barakandl and I both sell these nvram modules. It appears you purchased one of mine. As Barakandl mentioned this issue has only occurred on METEOR machines and has been fairly isolated, however considering I've had a few more reports of this coming in on METEOR I think I'm just going to note the nvram is incompatible with METEOR and leave it at that. To my knowledge no other Stern MPU-200 machines have had issues with the module.
I'm sorry you had issues. Since the actual cause is not completely confirmed the easier route for you would be to use the two original 5101 RAMs and a remotely mounted battery pack in your machine.
You can return the MPU-200 nvram you purchased to me and I'll issue you a full refund. I will send you a PM with address & info on that.
