The game powers up but when the start button is pressed nothing happens. The game simply does not start. The game is set to freeplay. Same problem even with the game set to credits with plenty of credits available.

Connections checked and look good. Neither the start button nor tournament button (with tournament started) when pressed start the game. So I doubt the problem lies with the mechanics of the start button itself.

Grab a meter. Check both switches to see if they work. then check continuity of wires from each switch to board in the head. If there is a wire color common to both, start with it. You have a break somewhere.
LTG : )™
Have you connected anything to you node board, mine did this when I connected a shaker and it blew the node board,I I had the same simptoms
If you pull the two connectors off the start switch and you still get the same error message, it looks to be a bad node board
The same thing happen to me on my Kiss pro.. Check the fuse on the node board it's probably blown.. There is also a service bulletin on using 3rd party shaker motors could cause damage to the node board..
