Hello
Never dealt with issue with a spike game before so complete noob here

1. Turned KISS on today (it was updated to new code last weak with no issues)
2. Pressed start
3. walked away from the game for 5 minutes to get a snack. after 5 minutes i heard a noise like the ball hand ended and ball 2 started
4. walked in the room to see a score of about 800,000. ball in shooter lane, no one was around!
5. Noticed that the top right quarter of the pin was dark.
6. Turned pin off, waited 30 seconds, and turned it on again
7. all 3 ball ejects (GENE, star eject, and scoop) where going off on its own, about 5+ times each.
8. after that, it gave an operator error.
9, opened door, 3 tech alerts . Device malfunction for STAR EJECT, SCOOP EJECT, DEMON EJECT

I've heard about node board issues, so i put the PF up and looked at the black boards.
All of them have a Orange LED flashing quickly on there except for 1 of the smaller ones. pictured here.

The larger one under seems to have a weird looking fuse on it, but i checked the continuity on both boards and they are fine.

I went into the menu and did a node board test and everything seems fine??

I did a lamp test, as before all the top right corner of pin is off.
i did a flasher test, no flashers flashed at all.
I turned pin off, took all 3 cables off that little board, plugged them back in and turned pin on, didn't fix.

Thanks for any help

That small board is not a node board, so doesn't have the flashing smaller LED. That flashing light on the node boards indicates that data is being sent. The eject / vertical upkick /scoop / Motor are all driven by node board 10. With the playfield all the way up, it's the black board on the lower right side. See if it has power going to it, and if the fuse in it is good. It's 7A slo-blow. They use the smaller from the factory, but the holder will actually take the larger fuse size as well so if it's blown you can simply replace it with a standard size fuse.

Thanks for the info. Yes i just learnt that node boards have an ethernet cable connected to them - so yeah, not a node board. It does seem to have an LED on it that isnt lighting or blinking.

Fuses are ok.
I talked to my dealer and he said it is most likely a corrupt SD card that causes lots of random issue, and he is sending me a new one and hopefully that will fix it.

The #10 node board? Each node board has 2 lights. One is a fast blinking light yellow that signifies data is being received/sent, and a red one that indicates power. Just confirming. Hopefully the new SD card takes care of the problem for you.

Hello
The SD card did not fix the issue
I looked at the manual and all the switches and lights are being controlled by NODE board #10. Anyone had a Node board not work properly even though the Green light is on, the Orange is pulsing like all the other boards?
Seems as though the board is alive and dead at the same time!

So I had the ball getting stuck in the Demon head and not ejecting. I ended up calling Stern and working with Chas to troubleshoot the issue and I ended up needing a new node board 10 to replace. So 3 days later I get the new board and get everything connected properly and then I boot it up. It then starts to do a node board update and then fails on node board 8. While I'm waiting on Stern to respond to my email any ideas as to what else I may be able to do to get this working, if at all possible?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Turns out they don't set the dip switch settings correctly before sending out. After I did that everything booted up normal. However... first ball into the demon head and it gets stuck again! No idea what is going on here. Hopefully Chas can figure it out.

Same here. Node board 10 went bad on my Kiss. The new node board didn't work at first because the dip switches were not set. After I set the dip switches in their proper order, the machine operated properly.

Next up for troubleshooting is I am having mailed to me a "snubber bracket" as mine doesn't have. They were later added to stop ball traps during multi-ball. I'm still not sure that this will be the fix, but I'm really hoping it is.
