Hi all. Apologies if this has already been covered - currently upgrading a non-US Star Wars pro with IC kit. There’s no spare RJ45 ports under the playfield. I noticed there’s one spare port on the CPU board - anybody know the way forward from here? Don’t want to destroy a node board while I do this…..

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much. So the spare CN12 slot is good to go (assuming I don’t use a splitter). Must it be a Cat 5E cable?

Thanks again

Thank you Neil. Yes it’s the full replacement apron kit for a pro model, I didn’t notice a splitter in the box but I’ll check again I’ve connected to CN12 with a longer cable and it appears as though it’s good to go.

Appreciate the help.

Not having a lot of luck with this IC upgrade. configuring Wi-Fi - the Wi-Fi is the small USB type. When trying to find a network in the setup the signal drops to zero and no networks are found.

I’ve tried a USB Wi-Fi reset and also tried the other USB port. Wi-Fi doesn’t want to play the game….any ideas?

Thanks

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

Do you have a wi-fi access point providing connectivity for the 2.4GHz band?

Yes.

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

Signal strength varies a lot based on obstacles between the access point and the USB wi-fi adapter. If you have a phone or laptop that has good signal strength from the same location (meaning several places within a few inches of where the USB is plugged in- the closer the better) I would try a different USB wi-fi adapter. Post 4495 has one: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-insider-connected/page/90#post-7332467
There are multiple apps for phones or computers that will show the wi-fi signal strength. Your access point may also have one although if you can't connect the access point may not 'see' the pin.
Happy to provide suggestions via PM as well. Most of them have been covered in this thread already.

Many thanks, will try another USB Wi-Fi adaptor.

Quoted from Smack:

If you are able to, you might want to access the Admin features of your router. There may be options around 2.4ghz "band steering" or some legacy support for older 2.4ghz devices.
I had an issue with my 2.4ghz access point in that IC would see it but could not maintain a connection to register. Once I adjusted these settings I was finally able to get it up and running on WiFi and stop using an ethernet cable running to the head.

Thanks for the insight
