I'm not paying for nor connecting any of my pins to a subscription service. I don't play in-person pinball tournaments nor am I interested in competing against virtual strangers on leaderboards. I only play single player games on my PC too, nothing multiplayer, online or anything that needs me to create an account. Certainly I'm not in the targeted demographic.

Still will follow this to see the end result, but count me out from participating. George isn't getting adoption from this fella.

Anyone know how you get a location verified by Stern?

My friend, @jesterfunhouse, graciously gave me a new Insider Connected kit last night. I've been having fun already collecting the achievements, even though I wasn't planning on buying one ever.

I bought the coin door mount and waiting on that. What I'm doing now is moving the reader from game to game. I have network cables connected in each pin , so I open the coin door and plug in the reader. No big deal, just me playing and easy to reach in with my phone to scan. Plus I don't have to re-scan when playing games after game.

I had enough spare 16GB cards to install in each game. But of course I only have the single wifi dongle that was included in the kit. So that sucks having to move it to each game and re-enter wifi password, etc.

Anyway, found this AWESOME deal on a 5-pack of the CanaKit Raspberry Pi WiFi Wireless Adapter/Dongles. Now it makes it simple to move the reader itself from game to game. I probably won't even mount it and keep it in the coin door because I remove one cable and that's it.

$35!!! Seven packs left.

Aerosmith, Star Wars, Avengers and Jurassic.

I'm smart though, no need to buy a kit for every game. A friend gave me a kit and I just move the QR reader from game to game. Each game has a MicroSD and wifi adapter installed and a network cable running inside the coin door. I just unplug the cable from the reader and move plug it into the next game. I can only play one at a time, why give Stern $$?

Quoted from Ashram56:

If anyone has a practical solution to this, I'm all ear.
I think I'll end up adding an opening in the cabinet bottom, route the cable and reader externally to a suitable location outside of the machine. And use a mechanical splitter to share the reader across machines.

I have my only QR reader sitting inside the coin door. All 4 of my games have a MicroSD card and wifi dongle installed. All 4 have a 2' network cable plugged into the open jack on the left side of the playfield. The cable sits in the coin door and I just move the reader from game to game when I want.

Easy enough to open the coin door and hold my phone or printed QR code, then close the door and play.

Don't install the apron or anything, keep it sitting in the coin door out of sight.

There's not a way to unregister a game from the game Settings? Got a Godzilla on a temp trade and it's still registered to the original owner I guess...not the guy I traded with (he's 2nd owner at least).

If there's not a way to unregister from the game itself, well, then there needs to be. No way I can track down some random original owner and ask for it to be unregistered.

Quoted from TrixTrix:

Service Menu -> Net -> Stern Insider Connected. Press enter to delete registration. This feature was added in version 0.94

Great thanks. Game was running .85 and I of course did not see the feature. Updated the code last night and didn't check again. Game is now unregistered. That seemed like an obvious option, glad they added it.

Anything to check on a reader that rarely scans a code?

Figures it's down when I'm trying to connect a new Munsters Pro. I'm like, WTF, this is easy to do.

Was having issues last night when playing Jurassic Park and the connection would drop in and out.
