Quoted from cooked71:

I love new technology, probably too much.
But this isn’t new technology. This just brings them to 2010. It’s the bare minimum tech wise.
From my perspective what they’ve shown so far is pedestrian at best - I’m not an operator, I rarely play on location. Pokémon collecting was never my thing.
So I’m waiting to be wowed. And I realize they haven’t revealed everything. Show me something truly groundbreaking or something that improves on the original and I’ll be there with bells on.

I know this isn’t what you were going for, but give me a Pokémon pin with this! Collect them all and save on the app. Have to go to different areas to play the pin to get different types of Pokémon. Oh man, my imagination is going wild with this idea haha

Quoted from Bublehead:

Why wouldnt people NOT post their Qr code and let others pay to bump your achievements up? Every play gives you a boost somehow... and Stern couldn't stop you from doing it except to cancel any account where the Qr caode has been published?
And what if your account unlocks features... people play your code, get farther into game, you reap achievements... seems like a crack in the armor...

Tie the QR code to some sort of personal data so people don’t do that. It would be the same as putting your gamer tag and password on a forum to have people boost your video game achievements. No one would since you can buy games, etc.

Quoted from fuzz:

this march madness event is the most convoluted nonsense Ive ever seen

It’s definitely not perfect, but I feel like they will take a lot of key learnings from this to make future events better. I hope at least!

I mean, they can’t do too much with it or people will just start taking the glass off to play and go crazy on scoring. Maybe a sensor needs to be installed to make sure the glass is on haha

Quoted from EJS:

There should be enough intelligence by now for a game to learn what’s legitimate game play or not. If TAF could learn to time “thing flips” back in the 90s a newer stern should be able to learn averages of shots etc. Ball drain recoveries maybe not so much.
Perhaps audio feedback somewhere to hear if the flippers are significantly louder or not.
A microswitch on the glass is easily bypassable.

My point is if someone wants to cheat, they absolutely can. Put rubber bands over the outlanes and extend the flippers to avoid SDTM shots. I’m just saying that it’s all for fun and I hope they keep doing stuff like this. I have a friend coming over tonight to play some Black Knight for the competition. Our scores won’t count I’m sure but it’s a fun reason to get together and play!
