Also plug in the WI-FI adapter to one of the two USB ports on the CPU board. Download and bring the latest firmware for your machine on a flash drive to install.

Quoted from gblack:

Anyone know when Flip n out will start shipping?

The first kits were supposed to be for operators and locations- then later they would ship to home collectors.

I received a kit from flip n out, but it’s for a location game

Yup, same here, Error 500, hopefully their servers are not hacked.. there were 2 critical advisories last month, one for Apache Log4j and the other for Windows domain permissions elevation..

Hacked? Seriously?

Yea i'm aware of that. It seems Flip n out was one of the only distributers that respected Sterns request to hold home kits till 2022. Now that it's a free for all I'm wondering if home kit preorders from Flip n out will ship out this week.

Yup exactly.

My buddy ordered from GEX and got his 4 kits for home use last week… you’d think all of the distributors would start shipping for home users at the same time.

I’ve been installing kits today. I looked at Elvira. It’s exactly the same as the other premium games I have installed the kits in. Why do they say it’s not compatible with Elvira? There is nothing at all different about it. Same triangular spot, nothing in the way around it. Same node board port is available, etc. Is it something in the LE’s or SLE’s that is different? I think I will install a kit in Elvira.

I also looked at Stranger things, the only thing I can see different is the led board in the apron, BUT it might clear the IC triangular piece. I think I will try one in it too.

The kit is known to work in Elvira.

It’s listed as not compatible because there are special aprons for IC for Batman, Elvira and Beatles (maybe a couple more).

I'm also curious what's different for Elvira that Sterns says its needs something special.

The 40th and SLE editions have a slight apron difference to support the trading cards (missing corner slots for pricing card). Other than that, all Elvira versions appear to use the same size triangular windows int he apron like most other premiums.

I bet the something different is they will need left hand side modules. We've seen BM66 and EHOH 40th come out last month with left hand mounted QR readers. And since the current "kit" offered has a right hand side module, that means those other games need entirely new aprons.

I don’t think that is the case. If so you would just invert the triangle and install it upside down.

#2262 1 year ago

I went ahead and installed a kit in my Elvira and it works fine.
Why move it to the left? Keeping them all on the right for consistency makes a lot more sense.

The left and right side apron windows are symmetrical you just need to mirror the mouting plate. The 40th Elvira at expo had it mounted on the right side. For the production 40ths they moved it to the left.

The only reason I could think to move it to the left was so the LE owners could still keep their design team autographed plastic on the right.

I figured there had to be some reason, makes sense. Since that plastic on the premium is no big deal I am sticking with mine mounted on the right like all my other IC games. I am going to try a kit in Stranger Things next, also appears it will fit fine.

Stranger Things has yet another configuration with the QR scanner cutout on the right but mounted lower where the pricing card goes. I'm assuming it's located there due to interference with UV light strip kit?

While the big news of the day is Rush (of which I'm excited to see gameplay on), happy day for me and a busy night ahead, installing insider connected kits in my machines (and yes, I’m aware we are still awaiting Mando implementation, but getting the kit ready).

Is that a Stranger Things apron that came with the pro UV kit? If so, is there a specific stranger things kit that needs to be ordered for it?

#2268 1 year ago

Here are some pictures of the Premium/LE UV apron. I don’t have a Stranger things Machine (yet), but I am 99% sure you can order a regular pro or premium/LE inside connected kit and just mount the QR reader on the existing two threaded studs. Nothing special should be required.

That's what I did. I thought about your mod, but I put a sticker on the coin door that overlapped the DBV cut out plate.

Quoted from John_I:

I printed this stl file for a friend of mine and it came out very nice. I like that it's raised in the middle to be flush with the outside of the coin door rather than being recessed. A couple of coats of black "hammered" paint makes it look just right. I still had a full can in my garage from back when I used to restore games. (The black works great on all things to do with modern coin doors and the silver is great for restoring old rusty EM legs.)[quoted image]

I've shared my design with a dozen or so people so far, and I'm starting to get back some pics of their prints installed. Looking good!
Note that you'll want to print this with a high infill (aka "solid") so that it is nice and sturdy. This is especially true if you plan to drill the two holes to screw-mount the reader in place.

#2275 1 year ago

Cross posted - Not sure if this has been mentioned, but they've nicely integrated the IC scanner into the apron art for the RUSH PreLe -particularly on the LE. Hopefully this is the way going forward. Did they do this on GZLE?

Just got our first modern pinball, Stranger Things Pro, and is running current 1.05 code. Everythings great. But the Insider Connect will not auto connect to internet when turning on machine. It connects to our WIFI no problem when I go into the menu settings, and everything will work after that. But any time from a fresh boot up, it will not auto-connect to the internet, I always have to open up the coin door and reconnect in the service menu. And when I go into the service menu, it's still has our WIFI listed, and password is saved, but just won't connect on it's own until I actually go through the "find WIFI" and reconnect again. And when I do reconnect, it always connects right away, and will stay working as long as the machine is on, but after a power-off and restart, again will not reconnect, and I have to repeat the process. Very annoying. Anyone else having this problem. I've only had the machine two days now, so I hope I'm missing something.

I haven't seen that necessarily, but on mine I've found I need to wait a minute or two after boot up before it stops giving the "Machine is offline" error when I scan my QR code.

#2280 1 year ago

Drum412 - how long have you let the machine sit after powering on. For me it takes several minutes for the machine to connect after powering on. Let it sit for 5 minutes and see if it auto connects for you.

I've had it on for over an hour and it won't Auto-connect, a couple times now. That was one of the first things I thought was it may take a minute or two to connect, but it just doesn't happen, and even after an hour. But like I said, it will connect right away if I manually reset the connection. I gotta run to work now, so I may not reply to any further suggestions untill later this evening. Thanks.

Just won't auto connect, my daughter and I have even went ahead and played without IC, and after a few games, recheck and still no auto-connect. It's not the end of the world for me. But it annoys my daughter, we screenshoted her QR code on her phone, so she can easily log on, and she loves being logged on. But i'm not comfortable having her going into the coin door by herself if i'm not home.

check the date and time on the machine.

also check your wifi ap/ internet gateway and see if its reporting any issues with the device.

#2284 1 year ago

I'd also try assigning it a static IP on your router.

Got my first kits. Installed in TMNT and Mando Pro. Very excited to see what sorts of achievements I can get. I pre-installed Mando's but nothing happens with it in the machine yet.

For mando did you just peel the upper left sticker off and put it on the new apron?

Not OP, but you need to peel and restick the middle sticker as well. I was skeptical of this but they come off and reapply very easily.

OK......looks like we found the culprit. We have a vent booster fan located located right above where the pinball is that has a speed controler on it. My 12 daughter was doing her virtual at home school today, and was playing during her lunch break and was cold, so she turned the speed controller on full blast, and she noticed the pinball connected imediately after it was put on high speed which is where the speed controller doesn't modulate the electrical frequency. Smart kid that she picked that up. So when I got home, she told me, and sure as shit, if I put the speed controller on medium, the IC wouldn't connect on its own, and would connect as soon as I put the speed on high. I've tested start up about 10 times now, and it links up right away as long as the vent blower is on high. Still not sure why I could still manually connect though.......But hey it works. So now I'll have to see about relocating the vent booster to another location and get it further from the pinball. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I'll post back, if by chance it's not the vent fan, but i'm pretty sure it is what was causing interference.

If that is complicated, I bet "upgrading" to the dual antenna wifi adapter that stern shipped with some pins would do the trick...

I'll keep that option in mind just in case. Luckily it's in my half-finished basement (have not put ceiling in that section yet)....so the section with the vent run is exposed. And I just finished repositioned it now, now it's about 12ft further away. Just did one boot-up so far with it relocated, and the IC connected with out an issue.

Quoted from Gotfrogs:

If it came to that, I'd probably just not use the IC then...lol....I hate running wires.

For all of us that don’t seem to care for or need insider connect, the first thing my son said during the DeadFlip RUSH stream was, “Rush has achievements! I love getting achievements!” Then he asked if Rush was like the Beatles or Queen. Looks like I need to set up an account for him and head to Pinball Jones to play their Godzilla. You know, for my son.

Not sure but I love hearing the sound. Once you play a game a few times you will be hearing the sound much less frequently.

true - it’s always super obvious and annoying on the Stern streams because it’s a new game. I guess after a while it might be a good sound, if you’re chasing an achievement.

Since I’ve had several people message me personally, I’ll link y’all to the items I bought to make this work.
One 25’ cat6 per machine you’re looking to hook up (green cables)
You’ll need a coupler to extend the cable (red cable) from the insider connected board to the splitter, if you want to mount it in the front of the machine and open it with some slack. If you want to just leave it in your cab, you won’t need the extender, but it’s much more convenient to have it outside the machine, so you don’t have to open the door and kill power each time you want to use it.
I just used a few zip-ties to fasten the 2 splitters to each other, and the splitters to various parts of the coin mech to keep it in place. Just a quick bit of black cardboard to fill the gap. Good enough for me.
Oh, and yes, that’s a cowbell underneath Godzilla. It fires off instead of a knocker, ya know, a little blue oyster cult nod but that picture is to show y’all where all the cables come out of Godzilla and run to the other machines.

If it helps, I was able to get more reliable wifi reception by relocating the dongle from the metal backbox to the front of the cabinet. I just ran a USB extender down the cabinet and put the dongle by the coinbox, kind of like JJP did on Hobbit and DI. Seems to work better than it was at first.
