Just got word my premium is on it's way!
I've been looking forward to this release.

Quoted from mbrave77:Whos your distrib?
Shane mainehomerec (https://www.mainehomerecreation.com)
I've purchased a number of pins from him, always a pleasure to do business with!
FedEx called today, originally scheduled delivery of my premium for tomorrow, then called back and had to change it to Monday because they told me they didn't have a lift gate. I told them that's fine I have forks, only to be told that they already moved it to Monday....blah....
I guess I can wait a couple more days.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket side art blades yet?
Just ordered a set from Wizard Mod. Never ordered from him in the past but I like the print

Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:Thanks!
I just ordered a set.
any idea on how long they’ll take to get?
Thanks again
I don't know bud...first time ordering from them.
Hopefully not too long, mine will be here Monday.
Quoted from eyeamred2u:Lol, Failure on FedEx. Should have signed paper copy and received 2 copies. Otherwise, stolen or lost. Unless they are doing digital, but I doubt it. I have always signed paper for FedEx Freight.
My past couple machines that FedEx delivered required no signature, most likely due to COVID. He just handed me a copy of the paperwork.
When IQ was delivered the box had a hole in it (luckily I have a great FedEx driver) so we opened it up in the driveway before I accepted it. He noted on the bill of lading the box had a puncture hole just in case there was an issue once the game was up and running.
FedEx showed up late last night but it's here.

Special thanks to Shane at mainehomerec for the great service!
Well my excitement was short lived. Game worked fine, then about 2 minutes into game play the playfield shuts off, then loose power to the flippers followed by the LCD freezing.
Try to power cycle and nothing. If I leave it unplugged for 10-15mins I can get the game to power back up but then the same thing happens again.
This is my first Stern pin I've ever had issues with.
Grrrr....
Quoted from PinMonk:Try re-flashing the code onto the machine.
If that has the same result, then try imaging a new SD card with 0.80. Sounds like maybe a bad SD.
Instructions are here:
https://sternpinball.com/support/sd-cards/
Thanks PinMonk. I will give that a try!
Edit:
No dice. Flashed a new card, same issue. Freezes after about 2 minutes. I'm wondering if its a cpu or powersupply issue. Fan doesn't kick on. This last time the screen was pixelated when it froze.
Quoted from PinMonk:Do you have a multimeter? You can check the output of the power supply to make sure you are getting 48v.
Also, the Prem/LE power supplies are interchangeable for the most part. You could just swap one out of your other machines. Just two connectors and a few nuts to do the swap.
Thanks Brother. Yes I do, I will check that tomorrow. I also have several Sterns, I will try changing out the PS and see if that works.
Thanks again for the help!
Quoted from mahony:As someone else said, it sounds like it may be a heat issue. Check and make sure your PSU fan is spinning.
It definitely seems to be heat related. I'm thinking it's either the PS or CPU node. I'm leaning towards CPU as the pin will only work for about 2-4 mins from a cold start. Heat sink seems to be properly seated on the CPU node.
Still no luck getting through to Stern Tech support. I'm going to swap out the power supply from AIQ when I get home later.
Quoted from Drain-O:I don't think I would touch it, as it is under warranty. But post-warranty I would take the heatsink off, re-apply thermo-paste and reapply just to be sure you have good contacts. Again -- don't do that now.
Oh trust Drain-O, I wouldn't go that far at this point. I'm just annoyed the money we drop on these and the damn thing doesn't work out of the box.
I question how much they actually test these once assembled.
Thanks again for all the input from everyone!
Quoted from Drain-O:I'm not sure what the testing practices are, but based on all the rookie-mistake shipping pictures we're seeing in the forums, I would say that regardless of shop testing there is a certain amount that can go wrong, or come loose during the shipping process. All that being said, I feel your pain sir. I'm checking forums 4-5 times a day right now, looking for any info on when I might get my first-wave premium. The anticipation is killing me. I can't imagine what it feels like to finally get your pinball and have problems with it.
Hopefully you won't have any issues!
This is my 5th Stern Premium, and knock on wood, it's the only one I've ever had an issue with.
Tech support has already emailed me back and hopefully we will find out what the issue is.
I ended up swapping out the CPU node from my AIQ and everything works as it should on Godzilla.
My distributor is going to order me a replacement node
Quoted from Medic:So my LE will be arriving in the next few days. I’m a little nervous there might be damage on it. Do you guys open up the game and check everything before you sign the paperwork? Does the driver usually care if he waits an extra 5-10 min while you check? For those that have damages did you simply not check before signing for it? Thanks
Most drivers shouldn't have an issue with it, considering how much they cost.
Quoted from Hayfarmer:Odd places for scratches. I've had to ground these corners on several, but yours are in a diff spot
[quoted image]
I haven't managed to scratch mine yet but I know I have press up on the glass to get it to clear the front edge of the cabinet. It's tight against the top edge of the front coin door panel.
Quoted from Nikko:Did the update this afternoon and everything worked fine. Played about 15 games, no problem. Then in the middle of a game the lower portion of the playfield went out - flippers and all the lights from the middle down. Is this a software update issue?
Did the game lock up as well? And were you able to shut down and start up the pin right away?
Quoted from Nikko:Nope, didn't lock up. I did turn it off and back on, got the Node 8 msg. I talked to Stern this morning and they were great - we tried a couple of different fixes and they diagnosed it as a bad Node 8 board. Luckily I'm very close to Stern and went and picked up a new board. Distributor is going to install it for me tonight. It didn't look too tough to do, but he offered to do it and it's my first machine so I thought it was a good idea!
Glad you got it worked out. I had a similar issue but my game would lock up. My issue was the cpu board. Still waiting for a replacement from Stern. I pulled one out of AIQ though so I could play Godzilla.
