Quoted from Scotty_K:

Geez, I come here for Godzilla pin stuff and find an argument about the use of "mil"...
Can we get back on track here?

Just thinking the same. I'm scheduled to join the club with a Pro on Friday. Coming by Fedex Freight. Wish me luck...

#13942 1 year ago
Quoted from Bohdi:

Congrats Quy, mine will be here tomorrow

Nice! Let us know how it goes. Congrats to you too Scott!

Quoted from ExSquid:

I'm trying to get it " close enough" so as to not have a rattling ball coming out of the initial launch. Running out of ideas. I can deal with everything else. Last night I played and it auto launched the ball to the right and the ball got stuck under mechas arm.
I have all legs the lowest they can go right now. That seems to be the point the ball least has problems. Who knows.

Do you have a cliffy protector in the shooter lane?

If not installed properly, the protector can change the angle at which the ball launches. (the protectors are pointed towards the left or the right of the shooter lane.)

#13977 1 year ago
Quoted from ExSquid:

Negative, everything is stock right now except the external volume control I put in last week.

Can you post a pic of how the ball sits in the shooter lane and where the fork and plunger tip hit the ball?

For us lowly (impatient) pro owners. I love it! Too bad I had just put in an order for a Shaker and quiet fan a couple days ago, otherwise I probably would have ordered this too.

#14041 1 year ago

Joined the club today!

I want to add some additional lighting as the red modes get pretty dark but beyond that, it plays really great out of the box. Haven't had to make any adjustments yet. The glass is SUPER tight. Having to force it in tight. I loosened the rail screws a bit as suggested, but just barely helped.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:

Please tell me what Cliffys, apart from the two shooter-lanes pieces, are important/advisable on this playfield. I realize the game comes with a Stern “Cliffy” on the scoop. Is it adequate?
Thanks.

He only offers the scoop, outhole, shooter lane, and switches. I ordered the scoop, outhole, and shooter lane. I'll probably swap out the factory scoop protector when I do the other ones.

I play in the dark, and there are too many moments where there are only flashing inserts. I love the effect but I need some GI all the time! Also, I'm gonna need to look into a sound mod...

Besides that, it's a great shooting game. Still debating on some figures for the game or not.

I've had the game for a week and had my best score so far last night. Got to Monster Zero and the Ghidora battle. It was intense! Didn't break a billion but it felt good! So for me, it was a great game.

Quoted from MutterFudder:

It's a tribute to Lyman Sheats, who was an incredible pinball player, rules and software engineer, and great person who was lost earlier this year. He worked on many of the highest rated games and is responsible for many excellent rulesets.

Not enough could be said about Lyman. RIP

I've been thinking about the building mod also, so thanks for the reviews. I'm usually not a mod person but had to add a few. With the building being such a central (literally and figuratively) aspect of the game, that would have been mayybe one thing that could have been nice from the factory.

#14397 1 year ago
Quoted from Bohdi:

Ok, only had my Pro about 10 days, and love it to death of course, but IMO just too much Red GI. What are you guys doing to change some of it up? Some warm whites here and there, or cool or ?

I wired a 12v white LED strip at the back top of the playfield where the back board is. I play in a dark room and there are too many moments where the only thing that is lit is the light show with the inserts (like after MechaGZ multiball). I would drain because it was literally too dark to see. That's besides all of the red moments that are in the game. Much nicer now to have constant GI on but still be able to enjoy the light shows.

I also added two white spotlights wired to red bulbs. One is pointed towards the center of the playfield and one towards a GZ toy that I put in to replace the plastic. It was a much needed contrast to the red GI.

Am I missing anything else?

Quoted from JakeFAttie:

I believe there is a menu option somewhere that lets you choose between a few different music modes including "symphonic" and "hybrid" with "hybrid" being the default. I assume symphonic just has the movie soundtrack without the rock n roll....?

It leans towards more orchestral tracks if there is an alternative song choice, but each of the kaiju battles only have the one song choice, so there is no variation there, and of course, the BOC song that plays.

Going through some of the songs is high on my "mod" list.

I guess it's new code day? Just started on its own while in attract mode.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

It’s most likely the code from 11/30 that just hasn’t had a chance to install yet.

I already installed code from 11/30 tho, but I don't see any new code on Sterns site so...

#17732 1 year ago
Quoted from Desmodromic:

I actually just checked mine right before seeing your post and nothing came up for me. 1.03 released on 11/30, but 1.02 released just a week earlier on 11/23. Let us know what code you have once it finishes!

It's still 1.03 unfortunately lol

#17739 1 year ago
Quoted from KneeKickLou:

Dang you had me excited for a Christmas pinball miracle

Haha yeah, I was surprised too. Still not sure why it randomly decided to run the code update again even though it was already on current code.

Quoted from BroMan90:

Can someone using a shooter lane protector confirm if this one is actually for this game?
This protector came with the game from the previous owner and I've long suspected it may not be the right one as it does match the shooter lane groove like my other ones do.
I ordered a new one from cointaker on 9/1/22 that still hasn't arrived. Looking to just the order if anyone can tell me that this is actually the correct one.
Thanks in advance.

If it's not messing up your plunge at all, then I'd just leave it. Or you can remove it and put mylar down. I did that while I was waiting for a set of Cliffys for about 4-6 months, and it was fine. Turn the trough coil to the lowest it'll go while serving a ball and you should be fine with just mylar until the replacement arrives.

#18269 1 year ago
Quoted from golfergordy:

I thought about placing down mylar in the shooter lane to protect it, but with some of the width of the lane being level, and some having a curved groove in it of varying groove width and depth, it seems to me that the mylar would wrinkle, or somehow look lousy. How did you do it? by-the-way, I'm now waiting for MY cliffy protector.

Its easiest to do with that area clear of rails and stuff but ive been lazy before and have done it with everything in place. I cut a strip the full length of the groove and a bit beyond to where it is flat and also cut out the slit for the switch slot. Use a straight edge and a sharp utility knife for the cleanest lines.

I'll line everything up and tape down the edge away from the plunger with painters tape to make a hinge. Then I slowly peel it away from the taped end and use my thumb to rub it down. Work your way down from the center of the strip outwards. If you do agood job, it'll be like nothing is there

For those looking for the side armor and egg shooter rod, I've seen pictures of the gold color wearing off on the inserts of the side armor and color wearing off the egg. I can't rember if someone posted it in this thread, but I certainly wouldn't be happy if I paid 400+ on these additions to have the color wearing off. Just fyi.
