The skill shot behind the upper flipper is only registering about 50% on the time it’s hit. Any ideas?

Quoted from AntennaMan:

are you sure it's hitting that gate? there's a gap between the gate and the flipper that the ball can fit through fairly easily

Quoted from digitaldocc:

Is it cheating to use a beer belly to hit the button?

NO!

#3704 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I had a buddy that set his pins to 10 balls/game. Did that matter? No. That's what he wanted to do to enjoy his game.

I knew someone who had a few super deep games (Batman, JP, etc), set them to ten balls, and then gave himself ONE game on each per night. I dig it.

That's my thing - regular people pay for the machine as entertainment. So, find the settings and setup that does that - entertains. Who cares what anyone else thinks if you're not playing competitively? If it's not fun for YOU, then make it fun or sell it and move on.

There are ways to make the button integration fun. jjPotC did it with the gold collection. Deadpool's "BOOM" button is great, etc. As-is, heat Ray charge just isn't fun, plain and simple. And honestly, with a pedal, an option to pump up the heat ray would be...fun. It would also look hilarious as you're pumping with your foot and flipping.

#3706 2 years ago

After getting the game last Wednesday I have to say it has vaulted itself to my new favorite game. Still love the JP and Munsters. May move on from my Mandalorian. My only very minor complaint is that the left scoop shot seems very tight and hard to hit and that there are more than a few fast cheap straight down the middle drains. I'm wondering if some adjustment in flipper power would help with the scoop shot?

I was just discussing this, more options for the action button in the code other than the heat ray. Who knows, maybe Elwin and company will add another feature for the action button.

Quoted from Muymanwell:

I've literally headbutted the button, no cheating here. Accessibility is a requirement in my household, though

Quoted from Chitownpinball:

I used my chin. I thought that was crafty in itself.

Hitting that button can be challenging, but we adapt and learn as we go along. So now I just pop a Viagra 30 minutes before play

#3709 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

You have to remove the idea that everyone is playing competitively from the equation. There's a LOT of people (the majority? I don't have that evidence, but it's a lot) that play for enjoyment alone.

An internal setting is another thing. That is a software observable change that can be documented with the high scores on insider.

Physically altering your game should basically omit all your high scores on insider. Otherwise what is the point if we are all cheating?

Im sure you are one of those people who are ok with these jokers “making their games better” by modding them (tna recently, gnr I just saw). Then they go and sell them….with their shitty mods. Such a joke.

You guys can use your game genie to cheat, just dont expect me not to call you out on it. Cheater.

Again. You're ASSUMING everyone is going to be hooked up to Insider. I'm not. I know plenty of others that have zero interest in that and won't, either. So your argument is moot. They can make the game fun FOR THEM to play because there's no one else in the equation outside their house.

And if you're terribly worried about cheaters, be more concerned with people competing - glass off. In competitive play you either have moral character or you don't. You can't work around that requirement. Put your concern there.

A lot a talk about the heat ray charging…I say everyone can do what they think is fun for their games. Some folks think it’s not fun…

I think having to use the action button to charge the heat ray is flippin’ brilliant!!! Don’t change a thing. I love it, LOVE IT! Who agrees?!

Quoted from AntennaMan:

The rollover switch needs adjusted. If it doesn’t clear this can happen. Saw it with another le. Switch was not going to off
Had to bend the wire until it cleanly engaged AND disengages.

Stupid plastic mounts have no adjustment

#3732 2 years ago

Question for insider connect. My username is Ledpinball and my initials are SUS. I want it to save my score with the SUS initials but it always saves as Ledpinball. I setup accounts for my son's and it does the opposite. The funny thing is they want it to use the username. If anyone has any insight into this let me know.

I think its more to do with the size of the gate. Mine misses registering sometimes, I pulled glass off and the ball will go cleanly thru without touching gate. So I guess that's why it's a skill shot, needs to be perfect to score! My switch does work 100% if hit

I am completely blown away by Diddys Tesla strike tower mod. I think it might be the nicest highest quality mod I’ve installed, and that includes Liors T. rex head. It totally completes that right area and integrates beautifully with the spinner. Just fantastic.

I'm on the order list for these towers and his Pro bridge mod. Looking forward to adding both to mine.

I've seen the one little demo video - anyone have any actual gameplay streams with the towers?

Folks, I just went through the process of installing a Pinstadium Neo Ultra+ on a Godzilla LE. As a newbie to Pinstadiums and modern pins in general, I thought it might be helpful to others to post my notes from the install for Godzilla-specificism (these notes are a supplement to the more general installation notes at https://pinstadium.com/installation-instructions-4-2/ )

With the Neo Ultra+, each light bar is connected to two controller units.

The first is for the standard Pinstadium controller. My Pinstadium had a USB connector to a ribbon cable with a White/Blue pair (to get connected to GI lamp), and a Red/Green pair (UV+Glow, to be connected to the shaker motor). These connectors will be hooked up to the playfield with the included alligator clips.

pasted_image1 (resized).pngpasted_image1 (resized).png

The second controller adds support for 4 RGB flasher triggers on the light bars. This controller has a program button and 4 buttons to program the color for each flasher (see Pinstadium site for details). The ribbon cable has 4 pairs of wires and connectors (Red/Black, Blue/Black, Green/Black, and White/Black), which will be connected to a combination of alligator clips, wire taps, and Konekt adapters (basically Y cables for the connectors at the end of the ribbon cables, which can connect directly to some factory connectors on the pin).

pasted_image2 (resized).pngpasted_image2 (resized).png

You can obviously connect these to wherever you like to get the effect you like, but Scott’s recommendation is to connect as follows. I used the lamp/flasher/coil test section of the service menu to ID the right lamp/flasher/connector.

Main Pinstadium controller:

Connect the Blue/White (GI) to a white GI lamp. I used a lower playfield GI #162 lamp by the upper flipper. I slid the shrink wrap back and used alligator clips to make the connection (polarity doesn’t matter for these connections, so blue or white can go to either connector on the lamp). I then wound the Blue/White pair through the wiring harness from bottom left of the underside of the playfield, and connected to the alligator clippers.

pasted_image3 (resized).jpegpasted_image3 (resized).jpeg

With the Pinstadium powered up and GI #162 selected in the lamp test service menu, the light bars blinked on and off while cycling through colors, confirming things were working.

For main Pinstadium Red/Green flasher UV+Glow cable, Scott recommended wiring to the shaker motor connector using a combination of wire taps and alligator clips. Note that this connector delivers the power to drive the shaker motor (see those bigger wires?) so it can pack a punch. I powered down my machine before wiring things to this connector.

To connect the wire taps to this connector, I bent the ends of the wire taps into the first and last pin on the shaker motor connector and used a bit of force to get the connector (with wire taps) reconnected with the Node board at the front left of the main cabinet. Give them a tug, and make sure they are secure. With that in place, I snaked the Red/Green pair through the wiring harness in the cabinet to the back left corner of the playfield. By going to the shaker motor test in the coil test section of the service menu, verified that things were working.

pasted_image4 (resized).jpegpasted_image4 (resized).jpeg

At this point, installation of the Pinstadium portion was complete.

For the Neo Fusion Orions Belt flasher section, Scotts recommendation was as follows:

For the Red/Black connector, connect to Flasher #176 (Top Spinner, just to the right of the Drake Building). This connection could be made with just a Koneckt connector, no wire tap or alligator clips needed. With Flasher #176 selected in the flasher test section of the service menu, you can disconnect the connector and verify you have the right one. Then drop in the Konekt Y cable and connect with the Red/Black pair that connects to the Fusion Orions Belt flasher controller.

pasted_image5 (resized).jpegpasted_image5 (resized).jpeg

For the Green/Black connector, Scott recommends connecting to Flasher #171 (Maser flasher) with wire taps and a Konekt connector. Unfortunately, the connector for this flasher is a 3 pin connector (only two are used) so you need to use the included wire taps to tap into the existing connector for Flasher #171, then connect to one of the connectors on a Konekt adapter, which you then plug into the Green/Black pair (one of the Konekt connectors will remain unconnected. Again, verify correct set up in the flasher test section of the service menu, then put some care in figuring out how to secure taps so they don’t come loose (I’m not sure what I did was optimal). Find the end of the factory connector that lets you best pressure fit the wire taps in securely. Try both sides to be sure.

pasted_image6 (resized).jpegpasted_image6 (resized).jpeg

For the next flasher, Scott recommends connecting the Blue/Black pair to flasher #179 (Mothra) using alligator clips. The connectors for this lamp are on the back wall of the playfield, right behind Mothra. I slide the shrink back and positioned the connectors to try and isolate the alligator clips from each other, and verified the connection in the flasher test screen of the service menu.

pasted_image6 (resized).jpegpasted_image6 (resized).jpeg

The last flasher connector (White/Black) is unused in Godzilla (per Scott’’s recommendation of “less is more”), but presumably be connected to other flashers if you’re so inclined (the flasher test menu is a quick way to see what flasher connection points are available).

I’m still fiddling with color combinations. Scott recommends R=255, G=72, and B=0 for the main Pinstadium GI, and leaving the Neo Ultra+ flasher colors at their default (Red/Black = Red, Blue/Black = Blue, Green/Black = Green)

pasted_image7 (resized).pngpasted_image7 (resized).png

For other Godzilla owners that have a Neo Ultra+ installed, please share your favorite settings. There are so many vivid colors in the ZY art package that the color choices really bring out different things in the game.

Thanks to Scott for his patient and helpful answers as I was figuring out what goes where.

Next - install Pinstadium Concert Editions in my GnR, and then a regular Pinstadium in my TZ once I get a bit farther in my restoration.

I’m with you. People can do whatever they want with their game. It’s all good. But I’m a HUGE fan of the heat ray button and the charging method. It’s so powerful and worth so much, there is a reason you can’t just slap the button.

I was playing tonight and thinking about the guys using this foot pedal. I just shook my head thinking about all the fun and butt hole puckering they are missing while trying to charge it with your chin and keep flipping. Of course I had to shake my head AFTER charging the heat ray with my chin.

When first starting a game I focus on ramps, you’ll qualify a kaiju battle, work towards destroying the building and start jet fighters. Complete jet fighters before starting a battle and you’ll be able to bring in an ally. Choose 2x defeat a monster and you’ll have around 200 million on ball 1.

Yes you can, right flipper to change the one that is lit up (when allies are available) and then shoot it in the scope with the left flipper to bring him in.

I have not mastered it yet lol, but that is how to do it.

I like the action button as set up for charging the heat ray. It's a risk reward I like ! I'm a fan too.

My wife has a pedal on her sewing machine. But that's ok. She doesn't play much pinball. No action button on the sewing machine so I guess the pedal is a must. Play your pinball the way you like. Or if it suits your fancy run your sewing machine as you see fit too. It's all good.

Welcome to the hobby. To get better you need to learn the different pinball skills. Watch all the videos in this thread https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/new-pinball-skills-tutorial-videos. He does a great job of teaching the different skills for ball control. Each video is only a few minutes long so it doesn't take long to go through them all. Then practice, practice, practice.

Quoted from Rarehero:

The game definitely has more “F YOU!” drains than most. Any accidental shot to the right ramp that doesn’t make it up, you’re F’d. So many missed shots just seem to have an absolute path right to the outlane, nothing but net. Same with a slow ball coming from the Mecha/Tail Whip lane, it’ll bounce clean down the outlane. I have no idea how people are complaining about lack of Wizard Modes. I finally got to my first Tier-2 battle after 200 games.

I will say that my game has finally started to calm down a little with more balls played on it. I'm not seeing nearly as much english on the ball near the flippers and the returns from the building and tail whip have been a lot more consistent. The game is still brutal, but fair. I put up 3 new grand champ scores last night.

Quoted from CashMoney:I’m going with Gold for my premium to match Ghidorahs skin. Already have green on my JP3.

Would love to see this, do you have any mock up pics / photoshops
