I save Megalon for after the second power up, with the 5x time bonus. Combined with Rodan and multiball it can score big.

#23502 1 year ago
Quoted from Scala:

Is there a good reason to not fight Megalon first? I feel like that battle is unbalanced in how much more it scores compared to the others.

It makes you shoot the Under flipper shot and the UFO. I personally rather just play gigan and take care of my jet fighters with the right ramp at the same time.

Usually I hit up Gigan first. Easier to complete and get a win under my belt I feel. Especially on my Prem. with the ball lock activated I can hit the right ramp all day every day. Combined with a fighter jet going, its s nice little stack. I'm not much of a knowledgeable player but find this approach works for a good start to a gamr.

Its the harder of the tier 1 modes? Points are basically higher because it's tougher, the other three tier 1's all have static and easy to repeat targets.

ive been practicing ebirah and failing lol. my goal is to rush ebirah and beat he and titanosaur on ball 1 as a minimum.

those shots r tough! the scoop at 6.8 is a pain right in the giftbag.

#23506 1 year ago

I've been practicing Ebirah as well.

Man I love this game! The right amount of easy and FV☆K me!

Quoted from Desmodromic:

There's a set screw on each pulley of the stepper motor drive system that runs the building up and down. On mine, one of the pulleys came loose (the set screw backed out) and the result was that the building would try to move but couldn't since the set screw was no longer tight against the flat on the shaft. Worth checking both of these. In my case, it made a squeaking noise and the stepper motor was spinning, but he building (and screw shaft) would not move. When it happened, I was sure the building was somehow wedged in position, but it turned out to be one of the set screws on a pulley. Worth a check and an easy fix if this is your problem.
[quoted image]

Thanks to the people who offered answers, indeed it was the set screw. I tightened it, adjusted building and it works like a charm now. Thanks everyone!

#23508 1 year ago
Quoted from wtuttle:

The squeaking is undoubtedly from the motor turning the main screw, but it not being fully attached to the fan-belt-like rope.
You could also add Magnalube, but I'm betting it's the former, not the latter.

How do you go about fixing this though? I've tried a variety of things but no good way to get at anything to investigate.

Quoted from Indypin:

Depending on your budget, I would highly recommend these mods for your GZ Pro.
Stern's art blades really look nice and compliments the art on the playfield. I dare go out on the limb and say the topper as well, but the price may chase you off. If you can swing it, I really like mine. It has a cool light show and incorporates a really nice bonus mode that you can access it anytime that lets you play a new wizard mode. The mode is fast and quick and really lets you jump in for a really quick game that will get you pumped.
TDiddy's Tesla Towers and Naegle Building. They both light up and really fill in the empty gap(s) on the playfield, especially the towers. It would be hard to pick between the two, but a slight edge would go to the Towers because they are a game changer IMO.
Arcade-cabinets (Brian) button protectors. Nice price and fits great and looks awesome as well.
Check out Wizard Mods different GZ items that have, including magnetic speaker, coin door and apron covers. Since they are magnetic they attach really fast and they look great, giving that extra "oomph" on the pin's visual appeal. They are from Portugal and takes awhile to ship, but they always answers emails very promptly. I love mine.
Mezel Mods light kit for the building. IMO the middle of the playfield is really dark. Mezel makes a light kit for the building that lights up red and really makes you focus your eyes on it. It made a HUGE difference on the pin visual appeal. Check their web site for more great mods as well.
I have the atomic Godzilla ordered and I'm on the waiting list for it. It looks really good as well. I went to Marco Specialties and ordered the MechaGodzilla figure that is the exact same one Stern uses on the Premium/LE versions. I removed the plastic stand up from the pro and just attached the new figure in it's place using double sided tape. Super easy and holds the figure in place very firmly. The back of the figures has a square piece cut out of it that was originally made to put the magnet feature in it, but I just left it open. The square open space now allows the flasher light that is positioned slightly behind the figure to shine thru the back of the figure and makes it glow real nice because the Stern figure has an open circle in the middle of MechaGodzilla's belly and it includes a silver or red piece that would position there. I used the red one and it lights up and if you didn't know better it looks like it has it's own light source.
There's so many great mods for this pin and you can choose and pick yourself to mod it to your liking. Hope this helps and good luck. I know I left some other great ones off, especially for the UFO area, but do some shopping and digging around and have fun!

Indy … thank you so much for the detailed recommendations. I am going to start looking at those now. The art blades looks great, so that will probably be my first pick. I’ll let you know where I land in a few months with some pictures!! The Tesla towers and mechagodzilla fig are also looking like great options.

Def need a Godzilla keychain if anyone has a good recommendation, the stuff on Amazon looks like trash. I’ve got the metal style theme going so far with my mando and maiden ones.

$63! For a friggin' keychain? No thank you. Much rather put that money into the game.

If you buy the plastic protectors ($52 for a set of 15) from spiderpin he includes a keychain. That's what I'm using. And the protectors are awesome.

It’s eBay. I got that a while back for $24. Might come up again for less in the future.

Last couple days to get in on my first run of these if anyone else is interested. I'm away for a bit after that, so if you orders next week will take a little longer than usual to send out. Here's some clearer pics than I last posted:

The movie poster side blades are also really nice.

I’m not sure if I’m going to go with the Stern version or these:

I’m leaning towards the posters.

I should have my Godzilla today....hopefully in one piece.

Quick question: Is there any areas on the playfield where washers are needed to stop guide posts from damaging the playfield?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new arrival. Other than turning down the trough eject power, this one is good to go out of the box.

I really like Pindefenders for the shooter lane (sold in pinside marketplace). I put a blood red one on my Zilla and have put them in my Bond (tuxedo black with 007 inscribed), TSPP (neon green) and Monster Bash (midnight blue). Three of those four required some adjustments to the plunger and ball sensor but the zilla didn't. Pindefenders offer better protection from shooter lane wear than Cliffy's because they cover the entire surface. I'm happy with them and plan to buy one for every machine I get in the future. Plus, the guy who sells them (gorgar007 aka "Will) is conscientious and dedicated to making sure they work properly.

Hi folks, I recently moved to a new state, and on setting up GZ I find that the 48V interlock switch no longer functions... Given the number of things that had to be reseated/tweaked after setting back up my pins (ST pro, I'm looking at you), this wasn't incredibly surprising.

However, I've reseated connectors CN4 & CN3 on the power distribution board, and I can feel two connectors very firmly still attached to the interlock switch...

None of the connections seem loose, but pushing the interlock in and pulling the interlock out have no discernable effect now.

It's possible that either the interlock switch is physically broken or the power distribution board has gone faulty, but the timing coinciding with the move seems... suspicious, and I suspect something to be dislodged rather than a something being broken, but I'm not sure what else to test/reseat... Any ideas?

What the best way to retrieve a stuck ball without having it drain and end that turn? My friend had an unbelievable round going but got a ball stuck in Mechagodzilla's arm. Can I just retrieve the ball and drop it in the shooter lane and have it sit while I put the glass back up will that just auto-plunge?

Yes. Make sure coin door is open until glass and lockdown bar are in place and you’re ready to play. Plunge happens as soon as power restored.

There is a setting you can turn on to not drain the ball when coin door is open.

there is a setting called coin door ball save, enable it. Open the door, remove glass, let the ball drain and once you close the coin door, the ball will eject and restart the same ball.

I made this video a few months ago:

On Deadpool Standard AdJustment #61 is: COINDOOR BALL SAVER
Set it to: YES

The setting number may be different in Godzilla, but once turned on it worked. Now I always put the keys in coin door before I play just in case I get a ball stuck.
Hope this helps,

My box came with a couple holes today…..but they missed the game completely.

They actually hit the hard cardboard below the coin door, but it didn’t go through.

With the way these shipping companies are abusing the machines, it might be time to put plywood around all 4 sides.

Didn't one of the defunct pinball company's make an awesome wooden buckle down crate? Where's that tech?
Thank God I live close enough to Cointaker I can just swing by and pick it up.

They should just start wrapping these boxes with plywood.

It’s not Stern’s fault. They aren’t the drunk ones operating the forklifts.

You are correct. But, Sterns ''paper'' boxes Do Not hold up well. I've had cheap shit come in better boxes.

of all the pinball manufacturers - Sterns is the best shipped game IMO.

Hey guys, It looks like one of my LED's below the middle missile on the right outlane is fading/ burning out. Is this something Stern would cover under warranty? If so, what's the best way to go about getting it fixed? My machine is from the February 23 run.

Thanks,

Thanks to whoever recommended the movie. It was a slow, but fun watch for what it was. Really added a bit of context to the game for me. Now to watch some others since this was my first ever Godzilla movie. All while waiting for my new GZ Pro to arrive courtesy of Project Pinball.

What’s the best Godzilla movie to watch that helps explain the pinball machine?

#23550 1 year ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

Spooky butter cab games arrive wrapped in moving blankets- Definitely the best packing job I’ve ever seen. Stern certainly is not bad. The one Stern disaster I had would not have been helped with plywood at all. Somebody dropped the machine from a decent height and the playfield became traumatically detached at the lock bar tabs. Amazingly, the glass and cabinet were OK. The box was perfect.
