Quoted from Pinfidel:Yes, that is the on/off switch wiring.
This is crazy. I removed the speaker and it still hits the connector. Lol
That means that this extension bracket is the cause. The bracket allows you to install a 5.25 inch speaker in the 4 inch grill. [quoted image]
I think this is one of those cases of "it's not what you think" causing the tension.
This would be easy enough to test, as the power switch will push down and pop out of the bottom of the back box. No need to disconnect the wires or anything. It would then be completely out of the way and then you could see if that was the issue (which I suspect it is not). The switch has 2 small tabs on each end of it. You can push them in and just push the switch down through the backbox. I would unplug the power from the back of the backbox before putting hands on the switch.
I also believe the clear spacers someone else mentioned to remove...were the long clear spacers that the Myth instructions asked to be removed. They would have been below the speaker plates from the factory. SEE PICTURE
There is very little "room to move" as far as these speaker panels go when adding things to the back of them. Following the instructions (making sure those spacers are removed, making sure you are pushing in on the panel when tightening the lower hex posts and making sure your hinge nuts are straight) is the most important thing.
I can't speak for the Myth kit, but I do know that even after following all of those steps (and I don't even advise people to remove the clear spacers unless they are using one of my lower panel designs) ...the panel closing a bit stiffer is not unusual with my "fully lit" SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit types, and simply cannot be avoided, in certain mounting scenarios. I also know it's not normally an issue and you just have to press in with a bit more pressure to close the panel.
In summary: I'm expecting, if things were installed correctly, the added pressure needed to close the panel is from the hinge nut on the bottom of the backbox rubbing the bottom of the speaker plate when you go to close the panel. I'm also expecting if you followed all of the installation steps, it will close as good as it can, with a little added pressure, and be fine.
