Pick up vs shipping

#17202 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinkitten:

Hi, Gang! I’m finally joining the Godzilla club, and my new premium should ship on Monday! So pumped to add this outstanding machine. My first new Stern since EHoH. I had a TMNT prem briefly, and it’s a good game, but I’m more an old school 90’s era guy.
One question, did anyone buy the clear acrylic saucer mod from Mezel and then upgrade to something else? Or not use it? I’d like to buy one. I’ll pay shipping and your purchase price plus a few bucks extra if you’d be willing. Thanks!

You're gonna kick yourself for not getting one sooner

#17203 1 year ago

Well guess what i was able to get my Godzilla premium today! ; I unboxed it at the distributor they deliver to me early next week ;

I hope upgrading to a premium over a pro was the Right decision

I was able to play some games straight outta the box but balls kept going on top of the building and staying stuck ….then game would run Ball search mode

Distributor says tech needs to dial it in for me but just wasn’t expecting an issue right outta box hehehe

In love with the game and debating putting it right next to my bed

Congrats. A NIb game almost always has issues. I had several with my gz that I worked out over a few weeks. Good that your dealer will dial it in for you. Some people like to do that themselves but depends on the kind of owner you are. Sounds like have dealer do it will work for you. Even then you will probably find small things after delivery you will want to fix or adjust. All part of pin ownership. Enjoy your game.

Wow. $17,000 for an LE. I'd be shocked if someone paid that. That's one mod I've never liked.

Hey guys, I am getting more than half my shots up the left ramp rejected from hitting where these two pieces of metal come together. Is this normal / within tolerance? Has anyone tried to tighten up this gap? I loosened up some 1/4" nuts underneath the building but couldn't seem to get it to move. When I watch people streaming the game they don't seem to have as many rejections as I do.

You likely need to move the metal rail on the left of the magna-grab closed to the magnet.

Loosen the nut underneath the playfield. Move the rail closer to the magna-grab. re-tighten. There's other posts if you need more pics of what to do.

Mine is loose and someone on here said that is correct. I can freely spin mine in its bracket. The nut is tight but the magnet is free to spin.

I get rejects from hitting this intersection as well. Worth taking a shot at loosening the nut(s) from the bottom side and moving those two closer together like you did by the magnet. It's on my list to try the same later today.

On the gate-switch for the skill shot, I feel like it has gotten slightly less sensitive lately, when the gate moves a little bit it still misses my skill shot. Yesterday I hit the super skill shot (to the scoop) twice and neither registered despite the gate slightly swinging.
I’m aware of the magnetic replacement but not sure I want to make that change.

Can anyone recommend how best to tweak a hanging gate switch like that? Should I work on bending the part that the ball touches, or should I work on the part pressing the switch button? My inclination is the latter. Also curious if a bit of lube might make the gate swingier at all, and more likely to trigger once touched slightly?

Thanks!

Magnetic replacement is great. Never been denied a made skill shot or impostor award since installing.

Haven't seen any recommendations for fixing the stock hardware.

#17227 1 year ago

I’ve had a quite a few games on my GZ now to with the newer software update. My magnet seems to work fine in all aspects BUT the destruction jackpot. It goes into the building. Loops to the left and hit the magnet, dit’s a very short hood and let’s go. Very strange.

#17228 1 year ago
Quoted from EaglePin:

Is there something you're expecting in another code update? Game reached v1.0 which tends to indicate all main modes and rules are in the game that are going to be in it. And there's a lot in this game. My guess is any future updates will be tweaks, bug fixes, and adjustments if any further polish is needed for it.

ok maybe I was just being a nag. We will prob see an update in the next six months, like IMDN got long after release, which was a good update, and made a difference.

+1. The MRS is an inexpensive solution that I’m very happy I put in. And it was an easy install. Worth going that route IMHO.

Thanks, maybe I’ll cave in. For now I tried increasing the sensitivity without bending anything, by adding some layers of electrical tape atop it. Initial playing shows some improvement. I also added a few drops of lube just in case.

Ditto regarding replacing the gate switch above the upper flipper with an MRS. I originally installed the original version of this MRS and during multi ball a ball would occasionally get stuck on the MRS magnet, requiring pulling the glass to unstuck the ball, but after I reported this problem to Matt, at M&M Creations, they immediately sent me their redesign of this MRS, and it's been perfect ever since. Kudos to M&M Creations. One other comment is something that at first I didn't know, and thought that I was getting cheated out of a skill shot award - if your plunge shot first hits the magnetron and then goes thru the switch behind the upper flipper, no skill shot award is made, which is correct according with the rules of the game.

#17232 1 year ago

+1 for the MRS fix. I used a silver pen to make it look more appealing.
Works perfect. However, are you sure the skillshot still requires the upper gate to be triggered- wasn't there a code update so that only the spinner has to be triggered? Make the spinner a littlebit more sensitve- atleast if your imposter keeps failing.
I'm sure chuckwurt knows about this better than I.

I received recently my gz premium and had time to play maybe -+ 10 games due to work and a 2yo baby that taking lot of my time too. Welcome to parenthood.

Is there a little guide for basic rules. Im not a good player.
I saw some YouTube videos but guys are making billions and it goes so quick.

You want to destroy all 4 cities.
To be able to start a city? The sign must be lit by shooting the ramps a few times?
To complete a city, you have to hit 8 ramps?
Another is hit spinners 3 times?

Any help appreciated here.

Complete rules are here:

However, it took me several readings of that and many many more games played than you have done so far to begin understanding them. And I’m still learning.

To get you started, basically each city has a battle mode. You need two ramp shots to light battle at the scoop (separate ramps after your first city). Once you then get the scoop, you choose one of four tier one battles. Each has different rules, but it is shoot the lit shot / spinner / target type of stuff. Also hitting the ramps does damage to the building which eventually will light lock. Shots to the building will then lock balls for GZ MB. Hitting the mechagodzilla spinner will also eventually activate its targets. Hit the targets to destroy the shield. Then hit the spinner again to start mechagodzilla MB.

I would start with those basic three concepts for now and then start adding to your knowledge by reading the full rules as you play more games. There is SO much more to do. That’s only scratching the surface.

Yes, they updated that in 1.01 to only require 2 ramps not both sides (for first city only).

I changed that back in settings so I still have to hit each ramp to start. Seemed not right to hit easier right side twice to start. And I'm not a great player, just seemed to take away the purpose of the left which is a more difficult shot

I recall that change mentioned too, but never observed it. So I just went to check out my left spinner, and I see it only registers when it is basically upside-down (180 degrees turned). So, given the height of it, a slow roller might never trigger it. I’m going to focus on that one now… I still would love guidance on how to adjust those gate switches, I’ve had similar Qs on other machines but never found best practices. Sometimes gates seem a hair too high, sometimes it seems the switch arm could be adjusted.
EDIT: Just bent the left spinner switch button arm a fair bit, now it triggers closer to 100-120 degree rotation instead of 180. And I tested the skill shot by hand, definitely no longer relies on the top gate, a spinner hit works.

I installed some Titan low bounce flipper rings a week or so ago. I keep getting the ‘ball hesitation’ on the lower flippers several times per game. I have rotated the rings and cleaned them. Quite annoying, any recommendations on something else I can try?
Time to buy some perfect play?

Also, occasionally when the ball is going around the loop it just barely touches the upper flipper which kicks it out a tad. Assuming these rings are just a bit thicker than stock

I had that on hard inner loop shots so i adjusted the flipper a little more in so that it doesn't happen anymore...it's more parallel with the metal rail behind it now.
