For those with tight glass on their games, here is an easy fix:

First remove the two bolts on the front and back side rails. Best access is to lift playfield to the most forward position. You may need to remove the bolt on the side hinge as well to access the back bolt. Then remove the two screws. Side rail will just come off (careful to make sure it doesn’t fall and scratch the side decal!).

You will see the plastic piece that holds the glass under the side rails is just stapled in place. Get a snow removal brush and work your way along the inside of the plastic to spread the opening. Do it along the entire opening, especially on the top part. Test the glass to see if sliding better.

Reassemble and your glass should slide easy now! If you ever want to get your game powder coated down the road, now you know how to remove the side rails. Very easy fix.

If you live in the south, I guess you won’t have a snow removal brush

Quoted from mostater:

I tried a spray-on dry lube that only worked temporarily, too, and I was wondering if silicone grease would be better. Which silicone lube did you use? I was thinking about buying Super Lube to try. It's cheap so I will probably do that, but I am beginning to believe that it's a losing battle and the only way to get rid of the squeak is to replace the entire shaker.

Used liquid wrench silicone spray, but I agree it seems like a Stern part that has problems like thier coil stops. I am considering swapping out for a pinball Life shaker, I just went with Stern to avoid possible warranty issues. But appears Pinball Life shaker does not get the same complaints.

I have Pinball Life shakers in three Stern machines and have not had a problem with any of them. Three years being the longest one in use with ~5500 games played on it.

Bought these gloves at the hardware store for 2$ CAD (so probably 0.30$ in the US.) Taking the tight glass off with these on is cinch, just store them on the coin box for easy access.

simple knit grip gloves like theirs are cheap and nice for things like this, but they're not heat safe like your ove glove mitts.

the gloves probably work great in most cases but my glass requires a lift to get over the edge so I need the suction cup.

Mine are the knockoff off ove gloves, can't afford the real ones I spend too much money on pinball

Picked up my used (7 day old) Premium today!

The speakers/sound seems a little thin. Can you adjust the bass in anyway?

Thanks!

Looking forward to joining the club. Getting a NIB Pro delivered on Saturday morning. Can’t wait to place this pin beside the other Elwin greats.

I think I am going crazy. I was sure I saw a couple of posts on equalizer settings recently, but no way can I find them now. Can anyone help me out?

Has anyone isolated the perfect "MO-THRA" callout when you get the left outlane ballsave?

I'd love to put it on my phone.

As much as I hated when the twins sang during the movies (took you away from the action) as a kid... This is probably my favorite call out on the machine. Absolutely love it.

I'm pretty sure I heard Keith say it was custom made for the pin. It was on a podcast he was interviewed in. Something about they couldn't get the rights to the twins so they just recreated it.

Something like that anyway... It's a bit fuzzy...

I want to upgrade the speakers on my premium.

What’s the best option.

Lots of great information here.

It's personal opinion, but the biggest improvement for me is Pinnovators kit with an external polk sub.

I've tried all the high falluting speaker kit upgrades and they never impress me as much as the simple addition of an external sub.

I have a PBL shaker and it squeaks like a mouse being squished. I've tried super lube, lithium grease, all the things. Still squeaks.

So the PBL ones can squeak too. Though they do seem to squeak less often than the official Sterns.

Just stretch out the plastic glass guides with something similar to this. Will get rid of the problem. Very easy to fix and avoid the possibility of broken glass one day.

Anyone have a link to fix the ball trap behind the Mecha Godzilla turntable?

#12136 1 year ago

You can simply attach one of those self-adhesive rubber feet.

Speaking of ball traps, is this one just a fluke? Would be simple enough to attach something to the nut holding the ramp in place, it's only happened to me once in 50 games.

Quoted from crwjumper:

They feel just like the stock flippers

After further play I’d like to revise my review of Precision Pinball’s Aluminium flippers. I originally said that they play just like stock flippers. But after playing a few more games I have realized that they don’t. They have a much more solid feel than the stock plastic flippers. When doing a dead catch or letting the ball just bounce off of the flipper instead of flipping, they are a bit more dense and don’t flex like stock plastic flippers and therefore more predictable.

I’m truly looking forward to receiving and installing the aluminum bushings that go with these. I’m hoping that the “slop” introduced by the plastic bushings will be reduced. I’m finding that these flippers are making it a bit easier to aim more precisely. At first I was a bit hesitant to spend around $100 on a set of flippers, but after thinking about it I have realized that I will spend that much or more on a pretty mod to make my game look cooler without thinking about the cost. Spending this much and getting more precision when shooting as well as better ball handling is a no-brainier for me now. I’ve ordered these for all of my games.

I have to ditto this. For the buck, a powered sub give you a lot and you can put 4 pins on one sub with Pinnovators splitter

Question, I've been getting the ball hung up in the very back of the game behind the building and unfortunately when it happens it's a full stop, have to pull the glass off-type scenario to fix it. No amount of nudging seems to shake it loose. Typically, the ball has to be traveling slow to get stuck there but I can not physically see any reason why it's resting where it is, let alone why I can't shake it free!

Is this a typical problem or has anyone else figured out a potential solution?!

I've not had this issue. If nothing is obstructing it at that location, then maybe try increasing the pitch a bit more.

I have this problem periodically (every 10 games or so) too. I tried increasing the pitch which didn't help much. I've thought about taking the ball guide out and trying to "shape" it but I figure that's more of a hassle than opening the coin door, grabbing the ball and letting the game put the ball back in play after the coin door closes. I love that feature!

I need a progress save on Mechagodzilla multiball if Terror is going to be a requirement for King of the Monsters! Just me being rubbish but it's much harder for me to qualify Terror than Monster Zero. Interested if other people think a progress save on Mecha would would ruin it? I can't decide if it's good that it's harder or annoying...or both!

Have had issues w these motors for years, worst was a squeaker on a Tron that needed 2 replacement tries.

My gzle shaker started squeaking in the first week, oiled it but no luck, did a search and found someone recommended reversing shaker motor polarity by resoldering wires and it’s worked for me for about 3 weeks now….

Cheap bushings, have a pbl ready to go into a cc (if it ever comes) and it’s a different motor altogether - not sure if it actually has bearings.

I think terror is supposed to be "harder" than zero to qualify, but it's cool the player has the option to try qualifying both for the L4 powerup.

Get a heat ray stored and use that to score the super. Mecha has a nice long ballsaver, use it to get quick jackpots in the beginning. Don't be afraid to skill-drain to keep the playfield clear of balls to make shooting jackpots easier while ballsave is active. Shoot the center spinner loop and hold the UL flipper up and the ball will often rebound into the mecha targets for those jackpot phases. You'll get it soon enough, no need for progress save IMHO.
