For those that like physical media, Criterion is doing a 50% off 24 hour flash sale today. Their 8 disc bluray boxset of all 15 Showa era Godzilla films is half price, $112 vs the regular $224.

This set has lots of cool special features if you are a fan of these films. Flash sale ends tomorrow at noon eastern time or until supply lasts.

One thing that surprises me (and perhaps this is less surprising for those who have bought LEs previously) is that the owner's manual for Prem/LE isn't out yet, if it's indeed shipping in short order... The Pro manual came out about a week or two(?) before the Pros started popping up on location; I would think that if the LEs were on their way out the door, the manuals should be posted soon/by now... Am I way off on this?

The premium/LE manual is now up on Stern's website.

Anybody have any word on Toppers for this game, I have not.
With sterns price Increase they should give every owner 1 . Ha . like that would ever happen.. And no reason why they cant

No word on toppers in fact they're barely able to produce the Stranger Things toppers and then there's Mando toppers still to come. I can't imagine we will see a topper for this one until 2022.

Looks pretty nice! The silver armour is different from Mando, this one is mettalic

I feel like I just bought a new car…
Wow what a cool Machine… no issues so far. The sinking building diverter system is awesome (I haven’t played a Pro). Without the pop bumpers at the top there are a crazy amount of ball paths to shoot at. I really like the 3D buildings in the backboard.
Some interesting observations - there is a stern logo on the shooter housing. There is no tournament button - all stem Canadian games have included one but I guess that practice is over…
The foil cabinet art is really pronounced, much more than IMDN, Elvira etc. Quite a showpiece. Great job zombieyeti Keith and design team!!
I see why they used metallic silver on the armour - it matches the artwork which is very mecha-Streisand (oops Godzilla haha) heavy.
Insider connected is pretty cool. I like how you can quickly see more detailed game rules on your phone - I’m not a fan of how stern crams info onto their instruction cards…
I’m looking forward to adding it to all our spike-2 games.

Suck it Drew! (Chambahz )

How does it compare to JP?

#531 44 days ago

A distro told me today Stern has told him LEs are shipping this week to US locations, and all should be shipped by end of Oct. So by mid-Nov. everyone should have theirs. We only have to be jealous of Canadians for another couple weeks.

#532 44 days ago

My goodness look at all those ball paths thru the back of the playfield!
If I met Keith Elwin in person I’m not exactly sure what I would say, but I think it would be something like....

First time in my life I've ever wished I was Canadian. Congrats y'all. Gotta wait till next week here in Texas I reckon.
For all the complaints about the armor color, it really looks great in person.

It just got worse. Since Stern wont drop ship to TX, my machine is headed to my distro tomorrow and "they" will have it next week. I'll be waiting till the week thereafter. One of these games I'll learn to be patient, but not this one.

Lots of reports of Stern no longer drop shipping. Seems awfully wasteful.

I've taken baseline temps for the magnet in 0.77 before code was updated to 0.79 because the magnet handling is supposed to have changed, and this will be a good way to see if it improved the temps and by how much. The magnet does get pretty hot. 166F in 60 minutes of play, with no end in sight, so I could see it breaking 200F in another hour.

I'll try it again after an update to 0.79 and see where it's at, but this is what it looks like now...

An add-on for Spike Tibetan Breeze kits to cool the magnet is underway.

L Probe/R Probe is because I'm tracking temps on opposite sides of the same magnet coil.

Stern's like "Eco friendly? We don't care about no ENVIRONMENT!"

#544 44 days ago

Stern doesn’t want to deal with shipping issues to each individual end user. I don’t blame them. Ship to distros and let them handle the individual logistics headaches.

Way too hot. Have you hooked a fan up to it yet before you update the code to see if you can get a stable temp? Curious to see the results of all the test runs you perform.

I’m guessing at least a 15% reduction in temps overall on .79 code.

No, I do the fan tests after I have the baseline tests done. But given the experience with flipper coil testing/cooling I would be surprised if once cooled these get over 120F, and would hope I could keep them in the 100-110F range. The only challenge is I have to direct the airflow two ways to cool around both sides of the larger, flatter coil area of the magnet, but I think I have that worked out.

Quoted from Jkush18:

Anything's better than nothing, but I'm hoping for more. 15% on 200F is still 170F, which is crazy. That said, I prefer the more aggressive ball grabs and holds, so I hope that isn't dialed back too much, especially since a cooling option will make the magnet fully functional at full power basically as long as you want to play.

From my experience it seems like .79 is much better. I’ve got mine on location and I had magnet issues before this latest update.

All good now.

Using .77 as the baseline seems a little misleading since the magnet behavior in .79 is probably what people will experience. I get that .77 will probably show the effects of the fan the most though.
