Quoted from twenty84:

It kind of bothered me that the plastics around the Mechanogodzilla were printed to look like metal but weren't actually metal. I laser cut a few pieces stainless steel pieces and I like the look of this better. It is the type of thing I could make (maybe even a slightly better version now that I have done it once) if there was interest. Would probably need to sell it for about $30 a set.

Great looking mod for the money, if I hadn't already picked up one of loirs, I would be all over this, keep up the great work.

Quoted from tdiddy:

This is our Godzilla building mod for the Pro version. This model is from our new "Signature Line" this line will be for our utmost detailed models, these models will have a number plate for the release number, on the building it will be the address plate, i.e.1001, more info to follow tomorrow.

Quoted from ChipScott:

I love these Xilien characters.
I fabricated a plastic base that I attached to the post at the top of the right outlane. Added a spotlight in front of them and snuck the wire underneath the plastic protector in route to under the playfield where I hooked up to the red GI. Cool in that it comes on during modes where the red lights are lit, but especially during the introduction of the mode ("Godzilla versus whoever), they are lit up and highlighted similar to the LCD screen display.

Yours look great, I'm still on the hunt but did manage to score this one a few weeks back from eBay. Now just patiently awaiting the arrival of the machine.

Quoted from Sleal16:

Does it only get stuck when the spinner is facing the player or either orientation? I'll take a look at options, as I dont want to change the possible paths the ball can travel (like coming in from that top side could prevent some angles from entering and bounce back out).

Yeah, I wanted to keep it clean like the figure as well. I might just add some inside wall detail so it doesnt look so flat, but tbd on that. Will do a version with more rivets on the top, but just didnt want to clutter it. Besides those things, I might look for the similar paint color but for an airbrush. First time using one, so just need to practice that as well. The can version is super sensitive. Summary: ignore some of the paint pooling in the photos.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

If you're new to airbrushing and looking for a good metallic effect, paint the piece gloss black first and then apply your silver over that once dry. This will give the piece more depth and a nice faux metallic finish without the need for weathering.

#771 2 years ago
Quoted from Sleal16:

Sweet. Yeah had gotten a normal black for the base, but you're right, gloss black will be much better.

Also, less is more on the silver. Do several very light coats you want some of that black to show through. You can also top it off with a nice clear coat. Shiny shiny.

Quoted from Strummy:

My friend will be producing an Oxygen Destroyer soon. He is extremely artistic. This thing will be sick! I will keep everyone posted. Hopefully there is interest!

Sight unseen and I'm already interested, definitely keep us posted.

Quoted from Lermods:

I am happy to finally be able to announce that in collaboration with Random Pinball (aka toyotaboy) we are now ready to reveal our Interactive and Illuminated Oxygen Destroyer (OD) mod. This mod has been in the works from the day the game was announced, but it took a long time to finish with all of our other mods going on. It mimics the OD that is on the playfield in the right outlane.
This mod is 3D printed from 7 different parts, it has polycarbonate tubing, stainless steel rods and nuts, an aluminum ball and super bright dual leds. It is mounted off the screw next to the right wire form and sits over the right outlane, but mounts low enough down in the lane so you can still see the ball to be able to nudge. The OD will illuminate only when the OD insert in the outlane illuminates. The install is pretty straightforward, only a phillips head screw driver is needed (no soldering!). Admittedly, it is a little tricky routing the wire along the guide separating the inlane and outlane, but a couple of zip ties and a little patience and I was able to secure it out of the way to prevent it from interfering with the ball and keep visibility of the wire to a minimum.
We don't have a business model that makes mods limited or slaps numbers on them, we don't take names on lists and definitely don't take money until we have a product in hand. Life is easier for everyone when you actually have something ready to ship and then you collect funds. With that said, early on, these will be a little slower to bring to market. I think we will have 5 ready to ship out within the next week and then they will trickle out from there in similar batches. They will be up on our site (Lermods.com) tomorrow morning and the price will be $99 plus our standard $0.99 domestic shipping. If you don't get one in this first batch, don't worry, we will continue to make them as demand warrants, and assuming we can get all the parts we need.
I have a video of it below as well as a few pics. I'm happy to answer any questions or address any concerns anyone might have.
Hope you like it!

[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Vary cool! the OD is such an interesting part of Godzilla history, glad someone's incorporating a good version of it into the game. Nice work.

Nice I'm also working on some mods myself. See here.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That MG looks nice! And by mounting it over the spinner you won't have the ball trap issues that people are experiencing on the premium. Ball gets wedged under the elbow.sweet

I was at Minnesota's largest toy show over the weekend, nearly 300 tables of toys and I found this. I've got big plans for this little bus.

Looks cool in game play.
Gonna do a video.

That looks nice, I just did a repaint on mine. Still waiting on the machine. Do you simply have a comet strip attached to the bottom side of the atomic breath. I'm trying to figure the best way to light it but without the machine here yet, it's just a lot of guesswork.

Quoted from gumnut01:

I’m keen but worried about losing sight of what’s in the left corner. Does it obscure the left subway that much? And I take it you’re talking about the $90 1956 poster version?

It is the NECA 1956 poster version, I picked mine up on eBay a few months back for around $60. It's a great sculpt.

#968 2 years ago

A quick side note to that NECA poster art figure. The stylized paint scheme they use is actually pretty cool and it's UV reactive paint, soooo... A guy could get creative with some UV lighting back there to really make this figure pop. Just saying.

#970 2 years ago

If anyone's interested, I will be selling my wiz panel for a Godzilla premium. This is the magnetic art piece that covers the speaker area on the back box. In the end, I decided to go with the lit fire speeker inserts from Doug. Never used, still on the original shipping tube. These normally ship from overseas, so you can save yourself the wait time in shipping and customs.PM me if interested.

Quoted from gumnut01:

Thanks everyone. You convinced me. He just seems a little fatter than the factory one. Bought one today. For Aussie owners someone on eBay now selling for 75aud. A bit cheaper than it was. Now to work out how to attach the led strip to the breath.
Thanks for your help.

Go team necca. Be sure to post what you end up with, with those lights, trying to figure it out myself. Thought about dremeling in a channel on the back side so the LED strip will sit flush.

#1007 2 years ago

So I got to thinking the other day after noticing the NECA figure had UV reactive paint it got me thinking. I added UV reactive blue and white to his dorsal spines, I plan on using a couple UV spots tied into diddy's Tesla strike mod so that they will pulse with the spinner as GZ is charging his heat ray. Still scratching my head as to how to best light the atomic breath.

Quoted from Muymanwell:

would you mind telling which paint you used?

Not sure off hand but I'll post some information when I'm back in the shop later today.

#1011 2 years ago

Here's some info and observations about the paints I used to finish off the neca Godzilla poster art edition. Turns out I picked up that paint about a year ago off of Amazon.(Amazon product SKU in pic) It works like it says it's supposed to,just have to be sure to put down a bright white base coat for best effect. I only used the UV reactive paint for the edges of his spines. The other UV enhancements you can see in the picture are from the original factory paint job. I gray primed the red spines prior to painting, would have done it in a white enamel had I known I was going with the UV later. For the rest of the sculpt I used Vallejo's model colors. Oh yeah, I also used a random mix of testors enamels for the claws, teeth and tongue, coated with a gloss top coat for extra shine.Overall I really like the way the piece has two different looks color wise, depending on the light. I'm anxious to see what it looks like in a machine, still waiting on my premium.
The light source I used for the photos is a UV curing lamp that I keep at my shop. I noticed that it will need to be lit from both sides directed at the spine for the best effect. I'm sure this light is more intense than the ones I plan on using in the machine, will be bringing it home to test this evening.

IMG_20220304_103746316 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_103746316 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_103940365 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_103940365 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_103842723 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_103842723 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_112406206 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_112406206 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_111053925 (resized).jpgIMG_20220304_111053925 (resized).jpg

#1014 2 years ago

So I had a chance last night to test the UV paint effect with some of the actual UV lights that I may be using in the machine when it arrives. I tried a 20 LED strip and a 4 LED star post light from comet as well as a 5 LED cluster I picked up from Titan. They all work to light the spines but surprisingly the clusters put out more intense light then the strip from comet.with the Titan lamp just a tad brighter than the star post light from comet. Good to know as this gives me a few more mounting options when the machine finally does arrive. Like so many others here, I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my machine. I spoke to my distributor recently and he has assured me, it will be here when it gets here.

#1032 2 years ago

I just threw a little paint at this piece last week and I just love it, great sculpt. I hate the orange breath, I get that you can throw a bunch of blue light at it but at the end of the day,it's orange. I'm still scratching my head for the best way to light this up. For the rear, I'm going to use a couple UV clusters tied into the Tesla strike spinner so that his spine will flicker as his heat ray is charging.

For those out there who are concerned that the poster art neca Godzilla figure might not match the artwork, this might be an answer. These are available for under $100. They have one other available also that looks pretty cool.

Wanted to share this product with other modders in the thread. There are very few mods that I add to my machine that I don't add my own paint touches too. I picked up tdiddy's saber jet a few months back and recently received lermods OD. Without trying to take anything away from the original modders, they're finished versions were, for the most part, very well done. I'm just funny about my mods and wanted to add my own touch with some extra shiny. Enter this product, simply called mirror, it showed up on my Facebook feed and thought I would give it a try. Wow, I'm really impressed. This stuff looks like you're painting with Mercury. The images are of my mods in the works, this was applied simply with a brush and cleans up with mineral spirits. I can't wait to see how it looks shot through an airbrush. In all my years I've never seen a silver perform so well right out of the bottle.MG, I see a repaint in your future. This shit's the bomb!

Quoted from djsolzs:

Ive been digging though this thread but havent come across this question - anyone working on a building mod for premium? I really like the Diddy mod but only available on Pro correct?

Loirs, "the art of pinball"mentioned he was working on one for the premium. Diddy's has stated that he doesn't plan on doing a run for the premium or Le. Sounds like Loirs will be a full building replacement. I believe he's also working on building replacements for the back wall.

#1160 2 years ago
Quoted from Sleal16:

OOoooOO, thats a nice finish there. Though think for MG, might want to leave him a bit with the muted aluminum. Might look snazzy chrome/mirror, but too different of an effect from his character. Just IMO on that. Would still be pretty sweet matching if all the parts related to metal had that finish..man I want to mess with that stuff now.

Agreed that full-blown shiny is not the way to go with mg. I was thinking it may look impressive with a gloss black wash after the application, want to try a number of different things with this stuff. I did a full repaint on my razor Crest last year that I was really happy with, now that I've found this product,I may revisit the razor crest. Still waiting on my gz premium to arrive so unfortunately plenty of time to put into the mods.

Quoted from tdiddy:

Pretty sweet, I'm going to order a bottle and try it out. Maybe I'll use this going forward on the migs. Was this airbrushed on?

I haven't had the opportunity to try it in an airbrush yet. This was simply brushed on straight from the bottle with no special surface prep required. The consistency is such that it should run through a airbrush without needing to thin. May help with some of the light bleed through in the body of the plane as well. Attached is a pic of a test application (left nacelle and tail)I did before committing to your plane. This was literally slapped on in 20 seconds and it looked like this. The paint is self-leveling and a little goes a long way. Definitely try this stuff out.

Godzilla roar mod

#1199 2 years ago
Quoted from Muymanwell:

...i know that roar...

Yep, and since I don't have a fancy red sports car...

#1202 2 years ago

These arrived today! While there were a number of other offerings available online that were a little more impressive but a lot more expensive these seemed to best duplicate the artwork on the premium. I plan on repainting and adding interactive lighting. The only downside I can see to these is that I will have to make a custom base to attach to the back box, as the pieces are almost as deep as they are wide. Loving this sculpt it has lots of potential.

Quoted from Pugster:

Really nice…makes me wonder if the solution for modding the building facade on the Prem/LE is something slim (clearance is an issue I guess?) with the ability for talented people to crack out the magnifier and do some painting.

I have a few ideas and have been playing around with a few products that might work. Won't know for sure until I can get the machine in my hands. Hopefully, in the next few weeks. I'm also anxious to see what Loirs at the art of pinball comes up with before I dive in too deep.

Quoted from Good-Times:

This looks great, nice work. The roof is a great place to get creative as there's zero chance of balls coming into contact with that area (that sounds like a challenge )

Challenge accepted! If there is a way to "F" this up I'm sure I'll find it. Besides, what would a Godzilla pin be without some destruction.

#1227 2 years ago
Quoted from dfester007:

I would love to see what this looks like as a topper on a Premium. I might seriously consider that.

Not as much as I would love to see this as a topper on a premium. Fingers crossed in the next two to four weeks. This piece should be pretty straightforward when it comes to lighting it up. The translucent water at the base is a hollow cavity with a fairly large hole from the cast process for convenient access. I shoved a 50 LED strip from comet in one last night just to get a feel... And I got to say, it feels great. The base lit up beautifully and diffused the light with no noticeable hotspots.

#1228 2 years ago

I finished the repaint of the Godzilla half at the topper. Waiting on some gold paint from Stuart simple, (mirror silver paint guy) before I start the King Ghidorah figure.
Oh yeah, added some UV reactive paint to the dorsal spines. Plan on incorporating a strategically placed UV spot to really bring his back to life. Want to tie it into the spinner shot so that they flicker as GZ's heat ray is being charged.

On your repaint is that mostly a couple of different colors of dry brush? Look really nice.
Specific colors you used?

The repaint was all all brush work. I'll be airbrushing King Ghidorah when the gold paint I want arrives. Here's a pic of yesterday's color palette, all acrylic. Only thing not pictured is an oil-based clear coat for over the claws, tongue and eyes.

I had the chance over the weekend to play with some lighting concepts for my topper. There's a lot of ways to skin this cat. The basic premise though is three lines in, the whites in the bases will be controlled by the white GI, a red LED strip under King ghidorah's wings controled by the red GI and a couple of UV star post lights tied into the spinner to illuminate the dorsal spines. The fact that the topper is already split into two separate sculpts with hollowed out bottoms should make it easy to hide any wires. I hope to work on the base for it this week.

#1260 2 years ago
Quoted from Muymanwell:

definitely interested to see how you're tapping in to the different lighting effects

Should be pretty simple, the plans are to use comets quick connect, one in a white GI socket one in a red GI socket. I have diddy's Tesla Tower mod ready to go in, just have to put a splitter on that to tap into the UV lights for the dorsal spine on the topper and for the replacement playfield gz. All I need now is a machine.

Stern Side Art vs. Mirror Blades. Thoughts for a GZ Prem?

This just arrived, blue atomic breath for the NECA figure. I found it on eBay for $11 delivered. It's in two pieces, so the splash effect of the the base is optional. It's translucent so it should light up pretty good. The attachment point in the mouth is a little larger than the original but simple enough to adjust to fit.

Lighting bottom up through that “splash” may just be the ticket…nice find!

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. One of those comet star post lights is easily hid under the bottom of that. Looks pretty sweet, unfortunately the piece was pre-painted with white enamel on the tip of the breath and the top and bottom of the splash. So although the LEDs luminate the base they don't travel up the column of breath the way I would have hoped. I have a few ideas for some workarounds. Still like it 100% better than the red breath.

So... I'm working on the rooftop mod and I'm curious as to the height of these spacers and if there are any washers? I've downloaded the manual and I don't see any specifics as to these parts. If anyone knows or has the glass off and could measure, I would truly appreciate it.

Speaking of the mods on my Godzilla here are some pictures and video of what I've done with mine.
I especially love the Topper I put together which the colors are entirely programmable. I have mine going from Green to Blue as that made lore sense.
Video Below
https://photos.app.goo.gl/KDFJDTGEett4436s7
And this story is funny, I invited my neighbor over to come check out my newest pinball machine and ended up having the best game of my life thus far on it while simply playing to try to show him the rules set. Once I crossed 700 Million on the first ball I knew I had to keep going. This was the result, I did choke on 2 extra balls so it could have been higher but it was an awesome moment and I captured both of our excitement a few moments as my run ended.
I want to give credit to this community for helping me "A Rookie" Mod my machine. Especially to nocreditdot and Nikko and Koops who helped me immensely fixing the Bridge issues that plauge this machine and how to create a harness and connect the AIQ shooter knob. It looks so much better than the official Godzilla I initially ordered and returned.

Quoted from jonnyqtrek:

Okay, I know this isn't necessarily regarded as a favored product due to its price point, but this is my GZ LE with Lighted Pinball Mods' hologram topper... (The "fan" effect in the video is absent in person, and is only seen here due to the frame rate of the video recording.)

This was originally intended for a Star Trek Pro, but the room where that pin now resides doesn't have enough clearance for a topper, so I decided to use it for GZ. Went to YouTube, downloaded about ~19 clips, about ~15 of them were good enough to keep after conversion. It cycles through them in order. I'm only showing one clip here, but you get the idea.
(Not a lot of 3D renders of Showa era GZ... at least not that I could find. Most was Legendary trilogy.)

I for one think it looks awesome. You're absolutely right, these get no love on pinside. I've had one on a space shuttle for 2 years now and have been kicking around the idea of using it on Godzilla when it arrives. Nice looking ride you have there.

How does a tree grow above the bridge?!

Seriously, that's your takeaway from that. I for one could care less how the tree grows above the bridge, I think the trees look cool. I have a number of mods ready to install when my gz premium arrives and have given a lot of thought to adding trees. I think it's interesting and inspiring. That said, the concern I have with that picture is what looks like planking to me on the playfield. My first new in the box was A Mando, I've had it less than a year. And aside from it being pitted as f***, it has now started to show evidence of planking. I've been told the playfield qualities are a crap shoot. Maybe you get a good one, maybe you don't. So for Godzilla I thought I would get a playfield protector to address the dimples, but now what's the point. A playfield protector isn't going to keep the playfield from planking so...WTF Stern. These machines aren't cheap, hell if you played 11 Grand for a car with a shiny finish, and if in less than a year that finish started to go south, you would feel like shit. Sorry, rant over, I just needed to vent.
Oh yeah, I think the trees are cool.

[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

A few months back I wrote this glowing review of this new product I tried. Well I was initially impressed, after playing around with it a little more I realize it has its limitations. It does not seem to work well on certain plastics, like on a standard action figure. By not work well I mean, the finish will come off on your hands weeks after applying. This doesn't seem to be the case on hard plastics, like models. Also any oil-based paints that are applied on top of it will instantly reactivate the silver and contaminate what you're putting down. I've tried a couple sealers on it and that just makes the conditions worse. I would like to officially resend my previous "woo-hoo"statement and just go with,"it's a good finish for the right application". just saying.

Could you please provide the source for your Godzilla figure. Looks great!

This is the NECA 1954 Godzilla king of the monsters, movie poster version with my own paint highlights added. Size and scale is perfect without any modifications needed. As much as I like the way it looks, the NECA King Kong versus Godzilla, Godzilla figure, from this era of films is also in my opinion a better sculpt of the version that's featured in most of the clips on the machine. Looking forward to getting it lit up the way I want, and there's a small bus for his clutches that I'm working on as well.

Quoted from Sorokyl:

1956*... The original movie was 1954, this is from the American version's movie poster, the movie came out in 1956. I guess because the movie came out in black and white, the illustrator just assumed Godzilla wad green. Later Godzilla movies are in color, and we can see he is much more desaturated than this.
If you want a "dark" Godzilla, 1964 neca Godzilla vs Mothra is very similar but with more accurate coloring
I think most people use the original mounting holes, just put the screws into his feet (there are already holes!). The figure is very posable

All this is true, right down to the holes in his feet. Makes for a easy swap with the original toy.

Couple more additions today, I hope to get to the speaker light kit tomorrow evening. The more I look at the mg in this, the more I think I need to pull it and repaint it. His days are numbered. It feels so good to have my own sandbox to play in. Oh yeah, and I shot over a billion today!

How I attached the horn mod. Full disclosure, I have limited pinball electronic knowledge so I used an accessory power supply board from pinball life. I would assume but haven't verified that you could skip the accessory power board and tie directly to cn11(ticket dispenser) with a .100" 5 pin connector. The benefits of the board are that it is double fused (protects your machine from your mods and your mods from your machine) and has connections for up to six mods. I will be adding more in the future so this was the right solution for me.
Let's get started, Mount the auxiliary power supply board directly under the cabinet node board as per the manufacturers instructions. Real simple four screws and two wire harnesses to swap. The horn comes pre-wired from the factory with a yellow, black and red wire leading from the housing and a mechanical switch. Using a three pin molex connector attach the black (ground) to the top (pointy end) of the connector. Attach the red and another wire of the same gauge (approximately 3 ft long) to the lower or flat end of the connector. Solder the end of that wire to one lug of the mechanical switch(doesn't matter which lug), solder the yellow lead from the horn to the other lug on the switch. Attach the molex connector to any of the four available spots on the accessory board.
To attach the switch we will be using the center coin slot. You'll need to temporarily remove the plastic lamp and clip that luminates the coin reject button. On the coinmeck assembly just under where you removed the lamp you will find two holes that run through the mechanism. We will be using the top hole closest to the coin door and a zip tie, the largest you have available that fits comfortably through the hole. There is a lock adjuster nut on the button that came with the horn, you want to tighten that up enough to leave a channel just wide enough for your zip tie. Run the zip tie through the hole and secure the button using the channel as your guide. You'll want to pull this extremely tight but check your alignment as you're doing so by depressing your coin return button. When set up correctly, your coin return mechanism should be pushing the red button all the way in when you're at your end of stroke with it. Reattach your lamp clip, it will have to ride up a little further on the assembly. Now you can mount the horn under the cabinet node making sure to leave room so you can adjust the angle of the horn without making contact with any electronics. Now clean up all your loose wires with zip ties being sure to leave enough slack to comfortably open your coin door paying close attention to not interfere with your coin door switch. There, easy peasy, power it up push the button and enjoy.

Quoted from Jimmyhonda:

Could you post a video of this in action? What triggers the horn sound and also curious what it sounds like. Thank you!!

There is nothing in the gameplay that will trigger the horn, it is activated manually by pressing the center coin return. I don't have a video of it in Godzilla but you can check this out from when I tested it in my mando.

I am going to try and install this on my game today, has anyone figured out installation ?hopefully not requiring its own power supply .

I believe there is 12 volts coming off of cn11 (ticket dispenser)on the cabinet node board. I'm not 100% sure so I would get a consensus on here before you take the advice of a rando on the internet. Always remember to cross your fingers before powering on after any mod installation.

Does anyone know if the new batch of Tesla Towers are being made with a more durable material to avoid breaking from air balls?

He did beef the design up to make them stronger, but I would imagine he's using the same filament type as the originals. I haven't heard of anyone having issues since the design change.

So here is maybe a solution to a problem that's not really a problem, unless you're OCD like I am. The metal washers under the slings block the light to the artwork. I get their there to protect the edges of plastics but I don't want to go with the aftermarket protectos because they change the color of the artwork in my opinion. So I've added clear acrylic washers from Titan. Hopefully they hold up to ball strikes. Picture shows them installed on the right sling versus the left sling with the original washers. There, non problem solved.

I love this idea.. I'll go order some.. just one question.. what size should I order? They come in 3/4", 7/8" and 1" outside diameter sizes.

7/8 is the same size as the washer that's stock on the machine.

So what do you do if you want a dust cover for your machine but don't want something that's going to cover up that beautiful playfield. Simple, have a dust cover made with the playfield printed on it. Thanks to the fellow pinsiders on this thread who inspired me. Collage.com printed beach towel.

Quoted from ray-dude:

+1 on the clear pop bumpers. Really works with the saucer
If you go down this path, the LED inside the bumper has four wires that are soldered to the underside of the playfield. You will need to desolder to remove the old bumper, then work the wires back under the playfield in the new bumper

Also there seems to be an issue with the tips of the skirts being just under 2 mm longer than the originals. If you trim it back and sand it smooth prior to installation you shouldn't have to monkey with the spoon adjustment if you're lucky.

Quoted from atg1469:

Wanted to share it here first, I’m going to be listing for sale the custom topper I put together for my GZ.
It’s not an original idea, hell I stole it from this forum I’m pretty sure, but it features both 1991 Diamond Select Deluxe PVC characters mounted to a black piece of acrylic. I wired a few of comet’s blue, white and fire star posts (6 in total) lights inside and around the water to give it a really cool effect (IMO) and used two additional spotlights to brighten up the characters themselves. I added two colored filters in the spotlights (blue and gold) since the white was just too bright and I just wasn’t feeling it.
Hookup is super simple, just run the wiring down the back box (I put them through the back of the backbox like a lazy ass but it’d be cleaner to run them down the top port hole that Stern toppers use) and use the alligator clips to tap into whatever GI light you want. The spotlights come with a small switch to turn on/off, which i know isn’t ideal, but I just never got around to figuring out how to power them from the game itself. I will include all the wiring you’ll need including the power adapter for the spotlights.
The topper is mounted to the top using 3M Velcro strips so there are no permanent changes to your game. For the spotlights, I just used some clear double sided tape to mount them. I’ll include both of those items as well so it’ll be as turn key as I can make it.
The only negative thing about this setup is the fact that it does have a slight overhang in the back but it is what it is. Hell, you won’t see it anyways, you’ll be too busy starring at those beautiful figures in front of you!
In case your curious, I uploaded a video here so you can see it in action:

I’m thinking $350 plus shipping but feel free to make an offer or to ask any questions![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Looks sweet! Nice job with the lighting effects. I had over 6 months while waiting for my machine to arrive to research figures for a topper and the diamond select ones are hands down the nicest ones out there for the price.(still I had to add my own paint touches to gz)Love the way the pose mimics the artwork on the premium back glass. I've been busy with other mods but I'm looking forward to getting mine installed soon.
I am curious on how you secured the figures to the acrylic base you made. I will be doing something similar for the base only with a larger footprint so I can utilize Sterns mounting screws.

Quoted from Sorokyl:

Just look through photo gallery in this thread and see what you like. lf you really want a shooter rod replacement, several options you can see there.
Non-GZ specific: speaker replacements, flipper coil cooling, psu cooling (so that the stock fan doesn't come on). There are threads here for cheap DIY solutions to all of that.

That is probably the best advice you'll receive as there are so many options. Take the time and read through the thread. If I had to pick a top five...
1. Diddy's Tesla strike towers
2. Flaming frames lit speaker covers
3. Pop bumper saucer mod (insert your favorite version here) Sleal16 for me
4. Stumblor's lit neon sign for scoop
5. Invisiglass, so you can appreciate the additions you'll make to the playfield.
6. Replace stock Godzilla with (insert favorite version here)
And yes I realize That's six things but it was all I could do to reign myself in at that.

Quoted from Apinjunkie:

Wanted to post an update here as to an improvement made to the installation of the horn mod. After having the mod installed for a few weeks and going through the grandkids test, I found that after about 100 pushes the switch can work itself loose or out of alignment. I found a simple solution using parts you may have laying around. I simply added a few small rubbers, sandwichad between the switch and the coin mech. Using the rubber rings gives you the hole through the center so you can still use a simple zip tie to secure. This centers the button for better contact with the coin eject lever as well as keeping it from sliding out of position.
Pic 1, rubbers used
Pic 3, original installation after grandkids testing with coin eject liver fully depressed
Pic 4, new installation with better alignment
Pic 2, new installation with coin eject lever fully depressed, note the red on the horn assembly button is completely engaged.
Easy peasy, much better, more reliable.

Want to share my Mothra. It's the Super 7 Mothra (only about $20 usd) but I've done some painting on it to better match the artwork. I also repositioned its head so i could have it in an upright position. I removed the flat plastic mothra and used one of the screws to secure this one with a paperclip into its back. I adjusted it so that it covered the flasher from the players perspective. Wings are a little translucent so it looks nice when the flasher is on.
Have some other mods come in lately, machine is feeling a lot better. Waiting on a Sleal16 UFO and mecha spinner top and I think it will really feel complete

I had planned on putting my topper in today and then these showed up in the mail yesterday. The Tokyo neon sign mod goes in tonight after work. The other is going to require some paint prior to placement but it's day is coming. Bandai King Ghidorah movie monster series, found it on eBay for $35. As a bonus the seller included an unsolicited GZ Lego mini-fig. Wish I didn't have to work today.

The Godzilla is the NECA 1956 movie series, repainted. The minilla was a random eBay purchase. It came with an extra set of arms, head and smoke ring.no box
I couldn't agree more about the mirror blades but as much as I love them in this machine,I've got a set of the power blades on order.

Curious as well on manilla. His foot would make a great deflector to stop sdtm on gz multiball.

Nice looking ride, like your choice of rubber color, really pops on the flippers. As far as the bridge goes, the Chrome candy bridge does seem to fall a little flat when it is a standalone piece of his. I like the look of it when the game is fitted with all of his other mods. My personal favorite is Lior's.

I have a tracking number. Mine are due soon. I'll post pics and video for you guys if nobody else does.

I'm curious about that tracking number? You wouldn't mind sharing what date was that posted. I'm also waiting on a set and I was told on October 10th that I would receive tracking information, and a few days later I did. Since that,no forward progress. Tracking states that a label was created and is still awaiting to be dropped off with the carrier. I tried reaching out this week with no response. I'm just a little over anxious to receive these, really like the way they look, can't wait to install them.

Woohoo! So here's what these look like installed in a premium. I just put them in, swapped for the mirror blades I thought were an absolute must. This was absolutely the right call. I've never been a big fan of most artwork on the inside of cabinets but I knew the second I put the playfield in position after installation that these are keepers. Hard to capture what the light show is like in pictures, will try to post a video over the weekend. Real simple installation also.

Quoted from eyeamred2u:

Did you get a squeegie in your install kit to smooth the Powerblades during installation? I did not not, saw TDiddys video and he used one to smooth out and push air bubbles out.

I did not receive one although I picked it up from him at expo so maybe not the same package he had together to mail out. It wasn't missed in the install process. It's a simple couple of strips of double faced adhesive, not the whole back side so bubbles were a non-issue. I still used a tack cloth when pressing into place to avoid scratching the artwork.

I got mine in yesterday. Haven't had the time to install but I'm very excited. Did you have to do anything special to power them up due to the lighted flaming speakers? I can't remember if they are competing for the same 120v connector.

They do connect to the same spot, however I picked up a splitter from Doug when I ordered the flaming frames so ez-pz.

Quoted from Zora:

The blades look very nice. Is the sequence of the lights fixed or does the lightning react on the sound noice? I have a set in my LOTR, which reacts on noice/vibrations, which means it is out in quiet game periods and more intensive and lighted in heavy game periods. This is more interactive than having a programmed sequence.

The light sequence on the blades are pre-programmed, sadly no interaction with gameplay.

Edit..I just ordered one. They are on sale. $39.99

I was originally thinking about getting Pinstadiums for my Premium but am having second thoughts now…it seems the dimming lights in certain modes are an essential element of the game, and Pinstadiums would interfere with that effect. Any others’ thoughts/experience on this?

Not with Pinstadiums directly but my machine is in a well-lit room in the daylight and the effect of the side blades are pretty much lost, they look great after hours so I would imagine with the Pinstadiums doing what they do...

I've been on the fence about a shooter rod. None of the offerings I've seen have really struck my fancy, not a big fan of oversized accents on the rod but the stock one sucks so... I went with this. I had a chance to tweak some of the figures installed as well, I've thrown a lot at this machine and still have so much I want to do. It just keeps giving and giving. Upcoming projects include lighted breath for Godzilla, a repaint on mg, King Ghidorah figure for playfield and topper. I have all the components, just need to find the time.

We already have the SDTM mod and was thinking of buying the crown mod, but didn't want to risk it if they can't work together.

Happy to say both mods play nice together, no modifications needed. The exit ramp on the right side of the building did need to be adjusted slightly so the crown would not contact on the way down. Easy peasy

I'm very excited about this, and at first glance you might say oh, it's one of Sleal16 saucers, nice. But it is so much more, this was a custom piece Sleal put together for me with a RGB pop bumper ring fitted inside the saucer. It utilizes stumblor lollipop board so you can adjust colors, chase patterns, and strobe effects to your liking. I finished the basic install this morning before work and took a few pics, the image of the saucer on the workbench really shows off the potential, stills don't do it justice. i will post a video of it in action as soon as i have the opportunity. Thanks Sleal16 (sergio) and stumblor (Davy) for making this possible.
Now that the board is installed, next up, adding lights to godzilla's atomic breath.

Well I went ahead and did it. I've always wanted to take the time and add a little rooftop party and some extra paint work to diddy's Nagele building. I maybe took it too far but it does make me giggle when I look at it. The roof sections are now held in place with magnets so I can easily swap with a more family friendly roof and a simple slide in window covering for when the grandkids are coming over to visit.

So for those of you wondering and for those of you who are just asking for a friend, the nudie sunbathers can be found on Amazon if you search HO scale figures. Those are fairly common and are sold in a set with six figures and some beach accessories. The figures of the people actually "doing it"are from a company called Noch out of Germany. They are featured on a lot of hobby websites however most are not in stock when you inquire. I found a company out of Miami that keeps them well stocked and ships them out within 2 days of order. These items are $10 each, includes couple and a piece of furniture. www.micromacromundo.com

Curious what some of your thoughts are for this title

Just my opinion but it seems these are overkill for Godzilla. It already has a great light show so it seems difficult to justify the price for the end effect. For the same money you could add a sheet of invisiglass, Shaker motor, Tokyo neon sign and Tesla strike towers and still have a little money left over for beer and chips. Just saying.

Just a follow-up on that sticker. That was installed on day one, the machine has about 2500 plays on it. It is showing a little ware, where the ball initially makes contact with the ramp . Not really even ware as much as a little delamination of the protective film over the sticker. Overall I'd say it's holding up pretty well all things considered.

Loving the paint work, looks great. The piece looks a little taller than many others have used. If it stands more than six and a half inches you may be pretty limited as to where you can place it. Most people mount to the plastic right where the 2D plastic of Godzilla is on the pro. If it's over six and a half inches you may have to get creative and find a place for it in the upper right portion of the machine.

"fires have broken out in the building" absolutely loving the light show on this, I put in some comet star post fire bulbs on two of the floors, star post White on two of the floors and used a red filter over the existing mothra spotlight. After playing for a little bit today I realized I had a hotspot (one of the LED lights was peeking through a damaged area directly into the eyes of the player) so I added some fire over the hotspot. Now the fire is backlit and it solves that in your face problem. I eventually plan to replace all the buildings along the back wall with similar structures. Up next is a repaint of mechagodzilla and finally putting my saber Jets in place. Love this game!

I think the one thing everyone can agree on is that the stock Godzilla has to go, that thing is hideous. That's said, it comes down to personal choice and price points. Some people want screen accurate, some prefer ones that better represent the artwork on the machine, some could care less as long as it is affordably priced while others price is no object as long as it looks badass. So, to each their own, do some research and find the one that works for you. If it doesn't, circle it and move on and find the one that does. I've had my machine a year now and I'm on my third Godzilla. I had to change and alter it to my liking but couldn't be happier but who knows what the future brings. If a better version was to release tomorrow I probably wouldn't hesitate to jump ship.

Quoted from J85M:

Is that the movie Godzilla in your game?

No, the one pictured in game is a heavily modified version of dpannell animated Godzilla. The only version he was able to find that worked for his vision of movement was a millennia era of Godzilla. The piece is impressive, I love the movement and the light show but the extra long dorsal spikes and the muted gray and purple color scheme just didn't work for me. I cleaned up the sculpt and did a full repaint and was very pleased with the results.

If I had to get a topper that was available now commercially , I think tilts offering is the best for the money.

Quoted from KING-HENRY:

Got my highendmods1 .com mecha shooter rod yesterday. It’s really nice and light years better than the Stern Egg (going to sell that for probably $130 FYI). The mechagodzilla he’s made is just top notch! Sorry if I forgot your name, but you’ll see this. I can’t wait for the Maser Cannon and now I want the O2 destroyer I also have HighVoltage ‘s saucer and stumblor’s neon sign. Lol and mezel’s bezel frame. It’s starting to look good! (And stern topper next week)
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Nice looking ride, I really like that saucer, have you considered clear bodies and skirt for it?

#4325 10 months ago

I finally got around to installing some saber Jets. Nice tight formation as they approach Mecca, whole group turns to face Godzilla when the shield is activated.

Quoted from atg1469:

I have a feeling one or more of those fighters is going to be in a helluva dog fight if/when the left flipper sends a ball flying!

Certainly a possibility, truth be known they are now my first line of defense to protect diddy's towers from damage.

#4331 10 months ago
Quoted from Indypin:

I talked to Ms. Diddy about the past problem of those towers getting hit and broken by a random air ball and she told me they switched to a more durable material for the towers to take care of that problem. So far so good on mine and I can’t imagine not having those towers in my GZ pro. Such a great mod by a great team.

I saw a post of his on Facebook where he was giving one of the new designs the bend test. Very impressive. I have a set from his first release so it's the very thin sculpt and the brittle print. I've had a few issues with breakage but honestly don't mind fixing them. Such a great mod I would never part with mine either.

Quoted from Gubbin:

Getting antsy for my pro delivery in this next run. I know this gets asked a lot and is heavily opinion.
Are there any MUST HAVE mods for GZ pro? I'm less interested in visual and more interested in long term protection/ease of maintenance. Mylar on any spots? Cliffys etc. This is my first nib so looking forward to making it mu own.

I've had my premium for almost a year now and have thrown an awful lot of mods at it, mostly cosmetic but some stuff under the hood as well. The pro is a great canvas, there's a lot of real estate to make this your own. I would consider cooling fans for the flippers, this is Godzilla so you know there's going to be some long play times. The one thing I did add that made the most significant difference in my gameplay were precision flips. My shot consistency and scores probably Rose 40% after installing. Tilt graphics or maybe through pbl offers a plastic shooter lane protector that is always available and inexpensive.

#4352 10 months ago

That video does help get a grasp on the potential of this topper. Just out of the box it's not impressive but if you go into it knowing you're going to tweak it, replace the figure, maybe replace the tanks with an opposing figure of your liking and this could be pretty cool. You know it's a solid mount, the lighting is already in place and the skyline for the backdrop is impressive. The price aside, it seems like a good foundation to build your own unique scene with minimal effort. I'm warming up to it.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

Your thinking is what is wrong with pinball today.

My thinking... Not sterns? My bad fellas , I didn't realize I was the problem. For the greater good of the community I'll just stop thinking

#4385 10 months ago

I installed @Flaverflev lighted heat ray mod on Friday. It's pretty impressive, the bracket for the light bar is 3D printed, very sturdy and easily adjusted and diffuses the light really well, no hot spots from the LEDs. It's triggered with the GI, all three spinners and the action button, all of which are custom programmable through Wi-Fi. Installation is easy, took me 25 minutes.
Is this a must-have top 10 mod for Godzilla...no, but if you're just looking for some extra icing on the cake this is a great mod with some fun effects

This is going to be huge! Great work!

#4435 10 months ago
Quoted from arzoo:

tdiddy mentioned in the mod thread that he's working on a new front overlay that's better color matched with the rest of the mod. Wonder if it would be possible to use some kind of flat or thin LED wire (similar to what's used on art blades) to light up the front flames?

Sounds cool but unlikely. The tolerances are so tight I doubt there would be room for something like that and still have the clearance needed. You also have the issue of ball strikes which I'm assuming is why he is going with a sticker on the front face instead of 3D print.

Agreed! I like it even more after a facelift, but it is the movement and lighting that makes this piece stand out. A top five mod for sure!

second vote for Sleal16 saucer mod. He makes two sizes... I used his smalled one and it looks perfectly sized. no visual obstructions.

A third for Sleal16 , top notch saucer and a great price. He installed a ring light on mine and I tied it into stumblors board. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Quoted from mountaingamer:

Hi everyone, Ive made a few mods for JJPOTC in the past (double barrel cannon mod and coin action button mod) but ended up selling my collection a while back. The sickness has returned and I now have a Godzilla premium and JP premium, and thought I’d try a few mods again. The first I have ready to go is my version of the ever popular saucer mod. It’s 3d printed, then sanded, then primer, then wet sanded, then 2 color airbrushed, then satin cleared. It’s a one piece design and simple to install. I try for “that should have came with the game” look. I have 10 ready to go, and figure most people already have a saucer mod, so I will try to give away these 10 for $29.99 each + $5.50 shipping stateside. PM me if your interested.

I've been out of the loop for a while because of the real life busys. Looking forward to getting my hands-on that mazer cannon. I added this last night, it's AOP's. button surround with my own paint embellishments.
Diddy's Drake building is next..

Thanks
The Apron cover is from wiz panales, out of South America somewhere . They are magnetic and they make matching artwork for the speaker cover which I elected to pass on once. I got the speaker lites from Doug.

I finally had the opportunity to install diddy's Drake building. Absolutely digging this piece. I received my mazer cannon this week, added a little bit of paint this morning. Hopefully it gets installed tonight.

Quoted from OTRChief:

I have the Interactive Godzilla mod by DPANNEL. This is a very well-made mod where the head moves side to side, the body moves forward and backward, and it has an Atomic Breath LED. Recently I discovered that Apinjunkie provided a service to sculp and repaint the Godzilla figure. This made a great mod even better.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Glad to hear you're, liking the piece.
It looks right at home in your machine. I've done close to 20 of these now and I'm still having fun with them. Dan's work is exceptional. Mine was the third piece off the line and has performed flawlessly. There will be a lot of deserving entries for mod of the year, but Dan definitely has my vote.

Totally agree.
The movement is great plus the evil expression on this sculpt is such an improvement over the dorky expression on the original stock GZ.

Sweet, sweet, sweet. I can't say enough good things about this one. The sculpt is amazing, the paint is top notch...and the eyes, whether lit or unlit look incredible in my honest opinion.

Joshhardy23 Has been making these for a while now for inside the game, this one is aproximately twice the size. So it's the same scale as the atomic breath, neca's, dan's animated or the original Godzilla. This one will eventually make its way to a topper I'm working on.

Hi All,
I picked up a GZ Pro a few months ago and I've been loving it. One of the coolest parts of the game is the oxygen destroyer ball save. It get's my blood pumping when theres minimal time to hit a shot in order to stay alive! So I decided to create a Deploying Oxygen Destroyer that opens for the duration of the mode. It's still in the prototype phase so the finishings will be nicer for the final version. Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in putting in your game!
