Oh why Stern do you even bother making "lesser" models? This practice of making a more affordable pin by removing playfield features simply sucks.

Just make one machine, one playfield, and offer colored legs, alternate cabinet if that is necessary.

Offering "lesser" machines is offensive, "Oh, you can't afford the "real" pinball but we'll take your money anyway and give you this lesser playing version............."

Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

Why are you against choices?
Doing what you're suggesting means the end of the 5K pin.

Actually, no. My guess is that they can make a 5k pin with all the bells and whistles - consumers drive the market, not the other way around. If people refused to pay exhorbitant prices it wouldn't take long for those prices to suddenly adjust.

I stand by my dislike for offering multiple "not as good" titles, it sucks, and is something newly introduced to pinball that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Quoted from sd_tom:

For those wanting just one model.. Do you want everyone to have the pro so it's cheaper, or the premium for more $$ and less on route. If you want the premium for the pro price as the 'one' model youre dreaming.
Two tiers make sense.. Can dump the LE if ya want.

I don't think so. If only one model is offered, the production increases and the price for Stern actually *decreases* because they are able to purchase more parts = discounted price from distributors. That would also decrease the final price of the pinball...........

Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

Please excuse my ignorance. I agree with you the changes do result in different game play.
Is this more of an issue for those that focus on tournament play?
(Personally, I dont play in these)
Is there a reason Im missing?
Curious to understand.

Basically, who wants to lay down cash for a pinball that "should be this" but because you can't afford it, "here's this sub-standard substitute". ACDC is a prime example. Does anyone really want to play this game without the lower pf and have to stare at that butt-ugly illustration instead of a lower pf feature??

It just seems like an unnecessary and greedy strategy - you can't tell me it costs that much more/less to produce just one quality game - it may actually cost more to produce different "versions."

Quoted from rai:

Do you think that any product you buy should only cost what you can afford?
Lets talk cars. Porsche 911 but it costs $100K. You'd say that's unfair because Porsche can easily sell the car for $60K and you can afford $60K. Know what you can do? You can buy a used 911 or buy a Boxster for $60K or get a Miata and it'll only cost $30k.
If you can't afford a new 911 that's not Porsches problem. Their problem is staying in business and making as much money as possible.

I never said that - this argument is not about me. I could afford the pinball but that's not what's driving this argument.

I've never seen multiple versions of a game title offered in pinball before Stern started doing it and I think it sucks. That's the simple statement/ argument.

Now, let's get back to Ghostbusters, damn nice artwork and a fun movie to remember - enjoy the pin folks!!

I used to love playing GB on my Commodore 64. I recall when the movie first came out, round town were these pictures of a white ghost with the "No" red circle across the front of it. Everyone was wondering what the hell that meant........nice advertising stunt.
