Stern Elvira HOH bill validator coining problem

Video showing what happens:


Sees all switch closures in test mode fine, in attract mode usually sees 4, sometimes 3, and very rarely will see 2 or all 5.

Have switched node board, no change, have switched main board, no change.
Running .98 latest code.
Tried a different validator, no difference.
Have used these validators on many new sterns, including stranger things with no problem.

Called stern, not accepting calls, have called direct contact, no return call, have sent email, no response.

Hope to try in a different Elvira soon, will up date with result.

Any ideas are welcome for consideration. Feel it is a code issue.

Use a long pulse seeing on your bill acceptor setting and it should be fine.

On a MARS you will need to print out a program card.

Have to check. It’s 12v. They work fine on all the other Stern games I have.

Why would it work in test Mode and fail in attract mode?

all my sterns use a 110v. i only use 12v on JJP, CGC and AP.

The bill acceptor is an IGT. Works on every other game.

ICTs are total garbage... I would definitely try a MEI before coming to a conclusion. Also ICTs need a programmer to program

IGT.typically used in slot machines. Have used them in all my new stern tables with no problems at all. Until now.

I’ll see what I can do to come up with a differently branded acceptor. That doesn’t address the question of why it works in test mode and not in attract mode. Does the test mode just not work on this game?

Updated code to .99, no change. Tried a Mars acceptor, no change. Acceptor works fine in new turtles game.

Update: set acceptor on fast pulse and now it works ok with the .99 code. Does not work on slow setting. Using .97 code will not work on fast or slow settings.

I guess so? It seems to be working? I’m still suspicious. Occasionally the game reboots. And on one occasion froze and had to be turned off and back on. The latest code is definitely better, not so many glitches.
