Stern Delays.....

Mob mentality will always say that somebody that doesn't see eye to eye with the majority and speaks his mind accordingly should keep his opinions to himself and his mouth shut. I was asked a question earlier in this thread and I answered it with the only truth I know.

If this is only about delays, I heard it was because they are having problems with the supply of playfields. But that is second hand information so I don't know if it's true or not.

Funny! As much as I like original themes I never said I was totally against licensed themes. In fact at one time when they would show up in the arcades they were pretty cool and always a surprise. I could name quite a few. But that's when there was a little more variety and a lot less emphasis on only one short period of the past.

I've been around pinball a long time and the themes of late just aren't new enough, original enough, cutting edge enough, or even the kind of classic I like enough for me. But I'm glad those that are spending all their money on them are getting the themes that suit them.

If I see some thing I like, you know I'll buy it! No matter who makes it. If I say nothing it aint never going to happen. The way things are going it probably won't anyway, so maybe I am just wasting my time.

They used to only generally have 2 production games. I think their business model has changed, to allow these licenses open far longer, and now they have 10 games listed as in production. They then can make the games "as needed" in as small a quantity as they want.

I think the last game to be retired was ac/dc, and that was a while back.

No... they need to get the factory up to full capacity. Sales are exceeding production, the name of the game makes no difference.

i was there last week in the factory and there were lots of MMr playfields and some MMr games in various forms of completion. So yes, Stern is still making them...

Good I hope the delays don't effect MMr.People have been waiting a long time.I wonder what's the priority at Stern.
Is it based on sales?MMr is back ordered as you would think that would be first.I mean those games are paid for.
Love to be a fly on the wall to see/hear how that deal goes down.

I would expect any delays have more to do with getting in supply for parts specific to any particular job. Stern doesn't start a batch on the line until they've got whatever is needed for that batch checked in to inventory. So things not getting done on schedule is either a supplier issue or a manpower issue -- and the supply seems much more likely.

Missed the point. Point was, it's hard to keep quality tight when there's a lot of turnover and also many workers aren't fluent in English, which complicates training new employees. Trust me, I'm used to it.

Stern pays and treats their employees well. You can talk to them if you ever visit, most employees before the move had been there over a dozen years.

In Chicago, speaking Spanish does not complicate any employee training.

The only complication is if you only speak English.

What makes you think there's a high turnover @ Stern? It's my understanding that some of their employees have been with them for years.

Considering I work with companies totaling over $10B in market capitalization, many with 24/7/365 production lines, I can tell you that a production line environment is a very high turnover type of job position. But go ahead and make up that you know more then me about this and run with it as well. I know first hand. I deal with these types of companies every day, for the past 10+ years.

Have you talked to people at Stern or visited Stern? It's different than the usual "production line" type of factory.

...and guessing you have insight and extensive knowledge of production lines, especially at Stern? True, I do not know the inner workings of Stern, obviously. My original post was based on my experience of businesses with production lines, and how they operate. I guess you must know how Stern and its business is ran, and how their turnover rate is first-hand and have more knowledge then me on the subject. My bad.
