I know Stern gets knocked for cheap feeling pins and poor playfields that dimple easy, etc. I just picked this up with right under 10,000 plays at a really fair price from an operator who maintains his machines very well. He sold it cheaper because of the play count, but you'd swear it had under 500 plays. He said he runs only Sterns and he has had very little problems with any of them other than the usual stuff like rubbers, plastics etc. I have to say I was impressed.

I have to say I don't even see any real dimpling. Did they change the wood or curing process since these were made, or is just changing balls and waxing regularly make that big a difference?

Makes sense it's kind of like the Bally Williams reimports that have stigma associated. Comes down to condition regardless. I've seen some super nice reimports and some roached out domestic versions. Even HUO doesn't mean anything as you stated without seeing the machine.

Thanks I'm happy with it. I was looking for one for my brother, he was afraid of this one because of the play count. It was only couple hours away and a good price with topper so I ended up with it he ended up paying couple grand more for a low play HUO one but no topper. Fun game for sure.
