I was wondering if anyone has a good match to Stern's black standard powder coat color? There are 2 color black powder coats, the armor which is more satin and the legs which are glossier. I am interested in a match for the armor. Thanks for any feedback.

    Quoted from ruralcollector:

Can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure it's some form of wrinkle finish like splatter black, which I've used and seems to be pretty close to the stock Stern PC. Otherwise browse PPs website for textured black finishes and you should find something close.

Never noticed a difference between the armor and the legs. I still have traumatic memories spending hours blasting off the Stern PC for the first time. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I have a powder that matches the legs well, and it goes on easy. I have a color "Coal Black" that is a good match to the armor, but it does not seem to go on very consistent. I am hoping to find a color that is more consistent.

I will check out the sample for "splatter black".

    Thanks
    Again

Lots of variables with powder! A lot more frustrating than I ever thought it would be when I first started. Best lesson I learned is the more you invest in your setup the more consistent and efficient it becomes. You are most welcome and hope you find your match!

Thanks for the tip of "splatter black", I checked my swatches and of course I did not have one, so I ordered it. I checked on the powder coat forums, and a few others were having issues with Coal Black and switched to splatter black and have been very happy with it. We upgraded all of our equipment from our experiment stage, and we have been having pretty good luck with most powders, but we only do a few.
