Quoted from Rarehero:

I asked my girlfriend for her first impression, since she's a huge Star Wars fan.
She said "The Death Star looks like a helmet" ....and then "I'm not sure what they are going for. It looks like a mess. Why not just get the OG Star Wars game?"
She loves the DE SW pin, btw.

Quoted from scarybeard:

I'm out.
old trilogy AGAIN?? With Force Awakens and Rogue One being hot in the consciousness right now we dig up a photo collage from the 70's to decorate our play field.... anyone who wants an original trilogy machine has PLENTY of options out there!!! If licensing restricted you to original 3, you should have passed Stern.
Most star wars themed tables on ZEN pinball look amazing compared to this. I know you are working with a licensed IP but so was ZEN. so why does this look so damn lazy?? Also feature wise the Pro looks empty, and cheap. we'll see how it plays, but I'm so turned off by tired theme and lack of features there's no way I'm spending 5K on a pro.
Things I wanted to see from you Stern:
A machine with lots of magnets under the playfield to feature 'force' abilities. (you may have some, hope you do)
A ceramic BB8 ball that ignores the force features, (because this should have been themed new Star Wars, not old Star Wars)
An art package that incorporated ship panels, mechanical structures, droids, etc... NOT photoshop gradients in a rainbow of colors. See the ZEN tables 'The force awakens', 'First order', and 'Han solo' for some examples of artwork that actually fits the universe, rather than just using generic color everywhere.
all that said, I really want to play it. But i can tell you now, art package alone, I'm not buying the pro even if this game plays amazing. Hate being so negative but I was really looking forward to a Star Wars pin, and you did the exact opposite of everything I wanted it to be.

Relax guys, this game will be fun to play.

Quoted from Agent_Hero:

I think I'd rather have either Sega Star Wars Trilogy or Data East's Star Wars over this one...hell, get both for the same price as this.

Quoted from Chisox:

Well yes and no. The negativity seems to come quickly with these reveals but I think this is a grail pin for a lot of people and they're just disappointed by the unveiling.

#659 6 years ago
Quoted from Chicoman:

I've been waiting for this reveal for months in anticipation. Now taking a look at some of the images I've gotta say I'm disappointed especially with what the LE Model looks like. The play field art is without question some of the worst of modern era Stern pins. I like the cabinet art on the Pro & Premium they both look cool but I just don't understand the LE cabinet art.
I just hope gameplay and code live up to expectations but with the reveal I've been waiting to see I couldn't be more disappointed. And what's the price going to be on this one? YIKES!
BOO STERN BOO!
I really wish Pat Lawlor & JJP had obtained this license I imagine they would have hit a home run with it.

Quoted from Jam_Burglar:

In fact, screw an all-around Star Wars pin. If they made a Chewbacca pin I would think this was awesome. As it stands, meh.

#676 6 years ago
Quoted from Khabbi:

All I can think of is the times over the past year or two I heard people saying "just wait until Star Wars is released, everyone is going to want one!!". "It's going to be over the top!!"
Well, if this was an episode of mythbusters, I'd say that theory has been debunked.

Horrible looking !!!!
Sure hope it plays great.

Lets see what people say once better pics and some gameplay vids are released. I'm guessing many people will be eating some crow.

It's always interesting to see different countries take on Stern releases.
UK forums: 'yeah looks like a fun game, artwork isn't too bad.'
Australia forums: 'Cool, hope they get enough sent down here'
Pinside: 'OMG THIS GAME SUCKS LOOK AT THAT PHOTOSHOP RAGE RAGE'

Quoted from ForceFlow:

It would be kind of interesting if there was a collapsing AT-AT somewhere on the playfield. Maybe like the mini playfield on WOZ where you flip the ball around it like it was a snowspeeder, and eventually get the AT-AT to fall down.

Quoted from DaWezl:

My son asked last night if there would be a storm trooper bonus for all of your missed shots.

This is good idea!

#1047 6 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

I think Stern missed a ton of golden opportunities for LEs:
Stormtrooper LE - with cool white armor. All narration is done in the Stormtrooper voice. Rules and Modes are all about defeating the Resistance.
Slave Leia LE - Sexy "Luci" style to fire up the conservative wife. "Help me Obi Wan" hologram.
K-2SO LE - Game does whatever the fnck it wants. Head on backbox like Bonebusters, distressed black armor.
Wookie LE - Entire game covered in brown shaggy fur. Smells like a wet dog when warmed up.
Jar Jar LE - Pre-cracked cabinet joints, plays loose and wobbly. Mute button on center of lockdown bar.

Might as well add:

Bounty Hunter LE > With 'Dog' the bounty hunter dressed up as B-Fett. With a mattress bashtoy with a hole it >read his book and you will know what I am talking about.

Quoted from erak:

That would have been cool. However....
Disney banned the use of slave Leia on all official merchandise Nov 2015.
As their were too many complaints that it objectified women.
Carrie Fisher stated that the ban "was stupid"
However slave Leia will never been seen again in any official form.

Quoted from NimblePin:

Slow day in Clovis?

All joking aside. I think this will be a great playing pin!

I plan to mod it all out like my T2. However, the translight art on the LE could have been a bit more creative. Maybe its interactive during light speed modes? If not ill make one!

Anyway, Im curious to see what Steve at Pinball Refin comes up with. Im sure he can make a Stormtrooper themed pin.

The LE translight art needs to be re-done. However, the Prem is way better overall.

#1290 6 years ago
Quoted from bigdaddy07:

I think several of us including Rarehero missed your sarcasm. It is a terrible backglass (assumedly) image. I can't believe that's for the LE. The other two versions are vastly better.

twd (resized).JPGtwd (resized).JPG

#1292 6 years ago

I'm in on an LE but might go with Prem now depending on features. Anyone have an idea on new pricing? LE and Prem pricing?

hunted (resized).JPGhunted (resized).JPG

#1302 6 years ago
Quoted from noahd42:

I agree. I like it a lot too - very much High Speed or a little Taxi.
For me, I'd say the premium has the best package though.

Maybe the LE backglass animates when going into light speed after the ball plunger is released?

cockpit (resized).JPGcockpit (resized).JPG

#1303 6 years ago

And its only a matter of time until someone makes a SW translight like this adult themed Flintstones.
Leia is positioned a bit low.....

Just saying.

sw2 (resized).JPGsw2 (resized).JPG

leia (resized).JPGleia (resized).JPG

#1318 6 years ago
Quoted from badbilly27:

I hope the code lets me play as a stormtrooper. That way when I miss all the shots I can say that's what I was supposed to do.

This would be a good mode idea!

#1325 6 years ago
Quoted from kvan99:

Lol..good grief, you'll be lucky if the fluorescent bulb behind it will even turn on. They even stripped the lollipop side rails from the Premium. How much does that save.......?

Good point.

I think the SW Premium would be the way to go on this pin. Then it could be made super custom. White powder coat> Stormtrooper armor. Or a Bounty Hunter themed pin in gun metal/ olive drab green powder coat. All with alternate translights. Even Vid's Slave Leia idea is interesting if made tastefully.

#1547 6 years ago
Quoted from Gryszzz:

At the Stern "party" last year I'm standing there gawking like a schoolboy trying to process that Steve Ritchie is standing right in front of me. I'm trying to think of something witty and cool to say when he says...
"Well what the fuck are you lookin at??"
I busted up laughing and said
"Oh man you're funny"
He said "Funny like how?"

We had some laughs and had a couple beers and didn't even talk pinball for 15 minutes.
He's a great guy.

IMG_3469 (resized).JPGIMG_3469 (resized).JPG

#2141 6 years ago
Quoted from Damonator:

Yea - I think they are pushing the limits on how little they can do on the LEs and still have them sell well.
Basically they are down to:
All 3 translites
Different side rails
Powder coat
Whereas with STLE:
Real backglass
Stainless speaker panel
Powder coat
Custom backlit side rails
Lit backbox emblems
Shaker
That's pretty sad considering their cost on 2 extra translites and powder coat is $100-$200.

We totally agree with you 100%. I'm out on the LE and went with a Prem. I can make my own custom Translight for $30 bucks, powder coat for a few hundy more, add few custom modes and still be under the cost for an LE. The LE is not worth the $1500 more. Especially if they make 800 LE's. Rumor has it they will increase it to 1000 LE's.

#2250 6 years ago
Quoted from rvdv:

Premium seems the most popular
LE is overrated and Pro has best Translite
LE is coming , led strips under those not doing white rails will improve it.
Translite switched out for ....anything is better.
Too bad you gotta spend at least another $500 to make it somewhat decent.

Dont for get to add the shaker motor.

#2273 6 years ago

I plan to create some crazy mods for this pin!

First is a magnet above or below in the middle of the flippers. Hold both flippers to activate it. It will force hold a ball (or two) Activate anytime to stop any SDTM or possible force push the balls back up.

Anyone else have any other magnet ideas?

#2275 6 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

I was gonna put my Yoda refrigerator magnet on the coin door. That'd look cool.

Anyone think Stern could put a Tesla Coil in a pinball machine? Even one just generating arcs inside a globe? Wouldn't that look great on the Death Star explosion?

Im designing/making one for my GB.
