Quoted from Rarehero:

Please, you can see the composition and characters clearly. A bunch of characters backs, heads in profile, a big white blob in the middle. It's a terrible backglass.

Not to mention the potentially horrendous glare from it on the PF glass. Strange choice indeed.

I like where the reasoning is going with this one. "Since there are zero toys on a bare PF ...MAYBE they are allocating all these savings towards code development!"

Even with Stern's history... hope springs eternal

Quoted from trunchbull:

It's definitely hand-drawn, it's just (almost certainly) taken directly from stills, which means there's not much embellishment, abstraction, or general liveliness you get in a drawing constructed from references, as opposed to what was probably traced.

Yeah its the same stuff we've seen since the late 70's on kids lunchboxes so it's hard to get excited about.

Not being a big SW buff I just always assumed the art HAD to be kinda campy and family friendly but then I see some of the "attitude" that can be applied to it on comic books, etc..

Would have been cool if Stern had used some art with *attitude* on this machine but I guess playing it safe is the name of the game. Trying to appeal to the largest possible audience and using nostalgia is to be expected I suppose. Still...

Quoted from Msch:

civialans on pinside complaining that their game doesn't have the toy zip ties cut off is absolutely hilarious. Did you know that there are litterally thousands of other "games" that are delivered in pieces? If you want to hire someone to set up your NIB pin in your living room, we are available.

Over 70% of their current sales goes to "civilians"... according to Gary Stern. Go figure.

I'd say for a little over 5k it's not a bad deal. You get the No Fear flow layout reversed (minus the jump ramp but with some pops) AND with more code to extend the gameplay. Not a bad concept as No Fear is a fast, fun game but the simple rules can get old somewhat quickly.

Sure the art is my 1979 lunchbox blown up and revisited *yet again* but the pretty decent light show makes up for it.

I find it hard to excited about seeing ancient video clips we're all bored with trotted out as if it's something fresh but I rarely look at displays anyways except for score info. I'm actually glad there is so much scoring info and mode decisions being done onscreen... I was afraid it would just be a load of nostalgia clips like BM66 currently is.

So if you want that one layout that really epitomizes the SR "king of flow" but also has enough code options to give it some legs this might not be a bad choice... in fact I think I'll go fire up my NF as I haven't played it in ages

Quoted from jonesjb:

How well do you think the Star Wars pin with the Dialed In theme would sell?
Not well. I wonder what that says?

Not much as you're combining the weakest part of both titles.... a semi-confusing original theme with a nearly blank PF

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

Better not answer that...
Dead Flips gets to present the machine world exclusive, Stern gets someone who's getting quality footage out and we get to see it.
It's advertisement not investigative journalism.
Of course SOMEONE should ask these questions but why him when this could seriously backfire.
And besides that: You all know the answer! It's always the same.

Don't forget the Deadflip drinking game: take a shot everytime our host oozes "I love you" into the camera.

Here's a hint... you'll be shitfaced in the first half hour

I kid - I kid... I think (other than hearing that quote every few minutes) he does a fine job.

Quoted from Chrizg:

Here's some serious dimpling on mine. (Dimpling is normal)
Will post some insert ghosting pics next time I am at the game

"Don't worry dude... it's normal. It'll all even out!" lol

I've been buying machines ("collecting" I suppose) for over 20 years and have never seen these DEEP dimples like we're seeing on *some* of these newer PF's.

I think it does deserve a new term... not dimpling. "Cratering".

Quoted from finnflash:

Who did you buy from that is delivering it to your house? I ask because i live very close to you.

They all deliver to your house. Either it is drop shipped directly from Stern or it comes from the distro's stock.

Not as fun or as rewarding as "the hunt" but you do get the cold sweats as you pop open the box
