Just decided will pass on Star Wars and wait for the Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets pin.....
Quoted from Rondogg:Stern SW is premiering at pintastic in 6 days. No discussion.
Stern will probably have a banner hanging over it saying "Absolutely no video allowed"
Quoted from pinballwil:I found it..... i have the last one.
That's the only pin we will see coming out of Holland this year.
Is there any chance they heard some feed back about the pro versions Death Star not being interactive enough and switching it out for one that reacts more like a premium version Death Star. Obviously this is just a wild guess of what could be happening as I don't even know what the pro version Death Star does. I'm just wondering if a switch like this is possible this late in production.
Quoted from Monk:Is there any chance they heard some feed back about the pro versions Death Star not being interactive enough and switching it out for one that reacts more like a premium version Death Star.
Stern spending a bunch of monies at the last minute to make people happy? Hmmm that doesn't sound right.

Yeah that will be the day when pigs fly!
IMG_3481 (resized).JPGOh......well maybe!?
DJNOEL30 spoke with Jared who said there was a fault with the Dearh Star models, which is being redone hopefully for the better and the LE is being enhanced/tweaked.
Star Wars gameplay stream is supposed to go down this Wednesday or Thursday. Dead Flip just announced this on his stream today.
Quoted from extendo:Prepair for another 90 pages of spam
We're in the home stretch. Sounds like Jack will stream it this week. I (along with a thousand of my friends) will get to play it at Pintastic next week. At that point it isn't spam, it's information.

Isn't Pintastic this week? Maybe I have the wrong date in my head but sure I saw it was annouced as the 7th, got me questioning myself now

I'm on vacation this week so... I'm an idiot

did they mentioned if it was the pro or LE?
thanks
Not completely off-topic, I'll throw this on the blaze. I played a stock GB premium yesterday for the first time. Comparing that machine to what we've seen so far on SW I'd feel ripped off getting a SW premium. Art, hardware and exploiting the license. Doesn't look like they come from the same company. I apologize if this comparison already have been made.

Ya SW seems a little stripped down compared to gb but I guarantee it will still be a killer game.

Yes it will. AFM and IM appear stripped down compared to GB, and both are WAY better than GB in my opinion. Based on the clutter theory, RCT and Monopoly should be great games?

Remember that there is a supercharger behind the playfield. Big ass four magnet ball accelerator (according to the drawings). I agree that there is not much on the playfield but history shows us that simple is the way to go. That is why the BW games are still so popular today. I am hoping this machine to be a winner! Like every other machine that comes out!

B...But Star Wars has two color LCD screens!

That's true, there is probably a lot of cost in adding that one toy so hopefully it interacts well with the game rules.

Just like BBH, look plain but it is a hoot.

You're absolutely right about the BOM of those machines. But GB isn't exactly a game that's been garnering praise, and a lot of people are dumping theirs because it's so frustrating. As stated above, I'll take my chances with the unknown over GB and hope it's just more fun to play.
Quoted from dri:Comparing that machine to what we've seen so far on SW I'd feel ripped off getting a SW premium.
The lamest argument in pinball yet it still comes up, great art and a loaded PF does not = a great pinball machine or great value.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: that star wars playfield looks like crap. It's unfair to put it side by side with a ghost busters.
Quoted from Doctor6:I've said it before and I'll say it again: that star wars playfield looks like crap. It's unfair to put it side by side with a ghost busters.
While I agree that SW playfield is sparse and was hoping for a bit more...GB looks like an explosion occurred at the paint factory. WAYY too busy. As for playing, obviously we can't judge SW yet, but GB is not fun in my opinion.
Quoted from Hazoff:The lamest argument in pinball yet it still comes up, great art and a loaded PF does not = a great pinball machine or great value.
I don't disagree with that. What I disagree with is probably a smaller BOM and a price increase which makes it the.....(*thinking*)..... 10th-15th straight price increase? They have stripped down weight on their games considerably in the past few years to optimize cost. I don't fault them for that at all (ie. I couldn't give two shits about the old lockdown bar and I find the new hinges work better, service rails are somewhat missed but I don't think it's that big of a deal, switching the locking cab head mech for two bolts, let's not talk about the power switch...., only one board now VS 4 before). With that said, they have saved on parts costs by doing this and that's just wise from a business standpoint. What I don't find wise is reducing parts costs + reduce BOM + increase pricing.
That is my definition of stripped down and get value for what you pay for.
Seems like a year ago when GB images were released, everybody was pretty dang hyped over all the cool looking playfield toys, layout and artwork. Goes to show people like toys and good art. Then play footage and rules hit, and it lost a lot of steam. Hopefully SW, while I wish had more on playfield, will play better and be more exciting to play regardless of lack of as many toys.

In my case GB lost steam due to QC issues, the need for weird aftermarket plastics, Stern's lack of replies regarding QC & their track record for code.
This time around, in my case, SW lost steam because of a price increase on a shitty looking sparse game with terrible artwork. If only it had DE style SW art. If PinballFX makes custom SW art for their games then I'm sure Stern could have too.
To me SW reminds me of GOT Pro.... an empty PF with bad art & a few Steve ramps.

Quoted from thearcadegeek:never understood the hate for GB. It's a great pin - hard yes, but loads of fun.
I agree. I think GB is a game people see and want to play. It looks great. I personally love the game after all the quirks have been worked out. I considered owning one, but probably never will at this point. A couple friends already have it. The playfield is one of the coolest layouts imo, and even with some design flaws, it's enjoyable.

Well considering that GB represents NY CITY and SW represents the vast emptiness of space, wouldn't you expect GB to be more densely packed with stuff? I do agree that a "force" type of magnet trick or motorized 3 bank would have been cool but definitely not density for the sake of density given the theme.

i think now each increasing price, pin machine after pin machine, is acquired whatever licence price, building price, Gary has a cold or not... so even if the next pin seems to be empty (or license is cheaper) it does nothing.
Guys, just be happy to not be european and so not pay overseas shipping cost, customs cost, 20% TVA and other charges.
Quoted from thearcadegeek:never understood the hate for GB. It's a great pin - hard yes, but loads of fun.
playfield issues, slimmer issue, monster drains issues (outlanes and between the flippers), balls jumps over inlanes, drops targets issues..you still don't understand why some people can hate it or you don't want anyone hates the pin you own?
and at the end, does it really matter?
SO,They are on the dock and ready to ship,BUT No memory cards are installed yet due to final licensing!Do you want your pin now,or wait !!

a nib pin and after unpacking noticing 2 different side rails, ghosted inserts, loose pieces, crazy airballs, shooter lane clear tearing off after every plunge.
but that wont happen to starwars, no way

who knows now? each game has its truth.
had some NIB in the past with some rusty pieces also
Quoted from konghusker:Any confirmation yet if dead flip is streaming tonight or tomorrow?
on a PRO or LE? i hope a LE
Aerosmith pro pf is so empty, but its still a great fun pin. I think sw will bee great, shooters layout
Quoted from Hawkeyepin:Imo...it will be hard to beat GB
No, it won't. It's going to be pretty easy for any new game to at least be a smidge better than the scientifically proven worst game ever made of all time in the history of the universe.

We weren't talking about Street Fighter II.

He didn't say as far as I'm aware. Hopefully the Le though
