Will this be on twitch, youtube? Do you know what time? Cheers

7:30 pm eastern US time June 7.

https://m.twitch.tv/timballs

Feel free to warm up by checking out the Stellar Wars Launch Party video.

Quoted from J85M:

The best way to visually compare price vs value from a couple of years ago to now is STLE vs SWLE!
Prior to any reveal I thought I would be 100% in on a SWLE, thought it would look amazing next to my STLE, was expecting it to have lite side rails, lit back box emblems - rebel & imperial signs (upon reveal I thought well okay that backglass will be lite an animated, nope!) basically I was expecting an LE on par with STLE. SW doesn't even have a plaque/plate around it's lockbar button
Reality is I can't justify a SWLE when it's going to be sitting next to my STLE.

^^^This^^^
STLE is a stunning pinball.. maybe a SW prem now. No rush

#2253 6 years ago

Since the LE comes with all three translights , I'll shadowbox the falcon one and put moving lights behind it. Should make a really cool "hyperspace" effect.

#2254 6 years ago

Stern Pinball will soon have available an accessory LED lit frame to fit these backglasses.

Did anyone pick up on this in the Stern press release? Looks like the warp effect is a accessory for the LE buyers

Yeah I spotted that announcement but sounds like they are just the lite (translite boxes) frames that people have been making on eBay for years, if Stern make an animated one I'll be surprised.

Plus why are they even offering these like they are something special for LE owners to have to store their extra tranlites in!? I'm sorry but an LE should be far more than a couple extra translites and some terrible side rails.

Agreed.

Stern will not create an animated version. They only know how to half-ass things and ask top dollar.

Quoted from Manimal:

I have a former classmate who loves in Seattle and did a lot of artwork for LucasFilms. I am not sure how it works now that Disney has taken over, but based on the samples of the posters and artwork he has posted over the years, I am going to be at least part of what are on the SW games are images he produced. Hand-drawn, but Photoshopped in for sure. I dropped him a note to get his feelings on the artwork, although I am sure he is a bit biased. lol

Talked to my former classmate and he did the artwork for the Pro cabinet. Yes, hand-drawn, based on a stock model image. He said it was crazy to see it out in the public so soon after finishing it. (just a few weeks)

Not sure if you guys saw this in the club thread but these are some features I think are going to be amazing.

Some fun info from a friend:
The button mashing tie fighter video that was shown is a mode. have to do it while the ball is in play.
The other use for the button is multipliers. At almost any time during play you can toggle the shot multiplier arrow on and off. when it is off, you can move it from shot to shot. when it is on, you can get all awards that apply to that shot with an up to 40x multiplier!! haha amazing.
Also, you choose characters at some point and the modes change based off what character you are playing as.
Liking this more and more!

Here's the truth as I see it: this is a Ritchie game, sure it will flow well. It's also very similar to a lot of his other layouts, no denying that, so the code is going to be super key on this one. If Dwight knocks it out of the park people will be happy with the game. If it's fun but nothing special I don't see it lasting long, just too much like all the other Stern games you can flip with similar feels. Code is gonna be the big differentiator.

I assumed the video mode thing was while the ball was in play, would be incredibly lame without that. Could be fun. At least it's kind of a new idea.

That and the selectable shot multiplier is absolutely a new idea (at least that I have seen). That's going to be very interesting I think and make for some great risk reward opportunities.

Yep. No physical locks. At least on the pro. There will be no stop and go on that except for the mystery scoop as far as I can see.

It's an old idea a few DE & SEGA titles used similar modes/setups.

Goldeneye has a shootout mode that appears on the DMD while balls are in play you have to pull the trigger on the ball launcher to shoot the enemies on the DMD asap. It's a pretty cool risk/reward trick that adds a little something extra to your regular games with hands glued to the flippers.

This is a title i'm sure will get as much attention as needed. You don't pay for a license like Star Wars and ignore the code and just move on to the next game. This has the potential to be one of their all time best sellers.

High res photos present the cabinet and translite art like they should be shown. I think the games look great.

I plan to create some crazy mods for this pin!

First is a magnet above or below in the middle of the flippers. Hold both flippers to activate it. It will force hold a ball (or two) Activate anytime to stop any SDTM or possible force push the balls back up.

Anyone else have any other magnet ideas?

Anyone with some photoshop skills able to drop the Pro and Premium Translites into an LE? I ordered the LE and I'm curious what the other tranlites may look like.

LE's come with all three translites, so swap away!

#2277 6 years ago

Dang it, Dang it, Dang it,
I want to like this SO much ... it looks nice but I guess I was expecting this theme to be over the top. Bummer, probably won't get this unless I really enjoy the game play. Figured it would have been a "buy it before you play" it game ... but no. Will wait and see ...

#2278 6 years ago

Well, for better or worse, just ordered the LE. I've got a remodel going on, so it will probably sit unopened in the box for a couple months. If I play it on location and it stinks, I might just sell it NIB

Why all three though?

I'd rather have one real glass ASLE style. Absolutely stunning.

Who still had them?

#2281 6 years ago

Stern. Best option on all your future games, make an option for 250$ with playfield protector included from fabric. I would love to but it.
Now i have to wait for the protector beeing made, and dissassamble all those ramps to install it.

Would be great if i just could get it as an option, ready to go.

Weird thing is, I think almost everyone in this thread is spot on, pro and con. But for me, at LEAST 50% of the fun of pinball is sound, light, theme, code and art integration. Put a game on mute and it's not worth playing. At a loud location if I can't hear the game, hear the mechs, hear the callouts, hear the music, it's almost boring. There's a reason Williams hyped the sound tech in Indiana Jones so hard when it came out.

While everyone dumping on the game's features compared to other games features are perfectly reasonable to do so, this machine, with its license and double LCDs has the potential to lock in all of the above as well as any other game, ever. We're talking about access to the most recognizable sound design library in human history (Steve Ritchie and Ben Burtt, yes please), with characters and mythos second pretty much only to Jesus, Santa Claus and Superman.

For people like me, if the "experience" is dialed in (heh) we're just not going to give a shit if there isn't as much going on under the table.

True that, why I love Tron so much.

Found them from a distributor on eBay. No tax and no shipping. Couldn't find it anywhere else.

Well said. Additionally, for anyone who's played and loved Aerosmith, there's not a whole lot going on there either. Break down the toys and shots, and it's not exactly a packed playfield. Add in the great music and cool lcd though, and the game can really pull you in.
I'm expecting StarWars to play very similar to ACDC (which also doesn't have much in the way of toys when you compare the two pins).
WHile I think the magnets in Ghostbusters are amazing, this pin is likely fast and furious, full of flow. Very different style than GB and I expect will be better off without them. (Though I also would have expected some kind of "Force" magnet trick)
I think the devil will be in the details. How different and fun are the rules for the various multiballs? Seems cool to me but I'd like to know more.
I also heard it said earlier that you can move the shot multiplier around, and potentially score up to 40x shot value. To me, that sounds like GoT scoring. Not my fav, as the rules for scoring are pretty insane to fully understand, but still looking forward to playing this game.

Excellent post.

It's a Star Wars theme based on the original trilogy. What's not to like?

16 modes and 9 multi balls playing from 4 different characters and viewing 400 HD video clips from the one of the most iconic Movies of all time.

Hard to imagine the immersion on this pin isn't going to be off the charts. Cue up the intro music!

Should be fun to see what Ritchie has to say Saturday at NWPAS. I was looking forward to the show before. I'm even more excited now.

Pro has a magneto style capture double post to stop the ball in the horseshoe lane (where the crescent ramp is on the Prem LE), along with the scoop you describe.

Every game is a hot license that was paid for and should receive full attention. People say this every time a hot new game is coming out while the last few are languishing with unfinished or buggy code. Star Wars isn't going to get the proper coding just because it's Star Wars. Just like GB and GOT, when Dwight has to work on another game, SW will be done. No guarantees it will be complete or bug free.

#2294 6 years ago

I find I'm so excited that I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a new pin can make me feel. A new pin from a galaxy far far away whose gameplay is uncertain. I hope I can make it to September. I hope to see my friend Steve has delivered and a shaker will slot straight in. I hope the playfield is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

The Artwork looks really horrible and cheap. What a wasted opportunity.
Cabinets look ok. But playfield and bumpers and dtargets...yuck.

Only the display animations can save us now... (and from the video they look a bit dodgy too)

Dissapointing
