Quoted from DNO:

Color LE this soon is a slap in the face.
Should have been announced at launch.

Most Premiums and LEs have the same exact playfield art...are LE buyers normally pissed because of this?

#102 4 years ago
Quoted from Gritty:

I think I made my last NIB LE purchase with Stern.

You and me both ! Actually my last Stern
Purchase!

#103 4 years ago
Quoted from mnpinball:

The Stern LE model is dead.
The last good LE was Star Trek. Munsters LE made a slight
return. But it’s dead to me here on out.

Elvira 3 LE is coming , limited to 1500 units !

Quoted from whitey:

Elvira 3 LE is coming , limited to 1500 units !

Or Willy Wonka Le limited to 5000!

#105 4 years ago

Munsters is going to be the next Metallica, with a half dozen different versions. Except it isn't going to work for Stern until they get the Dwight code out of the game and assign the coding to someone with a little more passion.

I’m stoked that Stern is putting even more effort into BM66.
Picked one up just over a week ago and it’s quickly becoming one of our favourite games.
Played it at launch and was less than impressed. Only recently have I enjoyed playing it.
Once again, Lyman has spun straw into gold.
There are numerous ways to play the game. Major villains or minor ones. Each with their own rules.
Similar to ACDC, you build momentum that resets when the ball drains.
Keeps things exciting and frustrating at the same time. Amazing risk/reward.
Can’t say enough good things about this game.
There’s something about Lyman. He knows how to make deep rules more fun -not just complicated.
Highly recommend learning the rules and giving this game another chance if you haven’t already.

Oh.............come on dude ; ). There may be like, what, 5 examples of B/W making a "tier" game compared to these run-of-the-mill, strong as wet toilet paper games this community is buying. TAFG was a commemorative "holy fucking shit, we sold HOW many???" version.

I know, I know, Rare, you're just picking and having fun with me - but damn - that is like comparing apples to fucking moon rocks with today's manufacturers and B/W ; ).

Wait

Did Stern just retheme a retheme?

Lol

#112 4 years ago
Quoted from Gritty:

I think I made my last NIB LE purchase with Stern.

Just wait until Stern releases the Tron Premium remake with the lighted ramps, you know it's going to happen. But I bet most will rejoice and praise them for finally doing it.

#113 4 years ago

Maybe they'll get Julie Newmar to make an appearance at the next big pinball show... it'll sell a lot of translites!

#114 4 years ago
Quoted from Cobray:

But people have been saying that we all know that a Tron Premium is coming for about 6 years now.

#115 4 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

Same for LOTR

But... every time Stern releases a new VE/Reskin that isn’t Tron or LOTR they’re just that much closer to a VE of Tron or LOTR because eventually that’s all that’s going to be left with any legit demand.

Seems VE’s (or modified versions of current games) come after a few duds for “extra credit” to print a bit more profit into the quarter or fiscal year or shit who knows the formula (maybe there isn’t one but I’d bet there is).

I’m not 100% sure the VE model will even work any more tho as now we’re in the LCD era & the reaper reduces DMD fans every minute. I’m not dead yet but I don’t see myself buying any DMD’s moving FW unless it’s a local deal too good to pass up. No way I’d drop NIB money on a DMD.

I think Stern will have take a note from CGC & enhance graphics to utilize the LCD in order to sell VE’s. In a way that’s sorta what BM66 & Beatles are.

So to annoy you I will say Tron Premium VE with LCD & ZY artwork is next (JK)

This is similar to my theory of “having lost this powerball, I will surely win the next one...” yet I am still waiting (shocker, I know).

#117 4 years ago

another small positive to waiting till the code is finished until buying a game

#118 4 years ago

C'mon Riddler edition!

#119 4 years ago

Looking forward to the new "BOINNNG!" mode on the Catwoman version.

#120 4 years ago

TAFG was released after the original did very well on location. From what I've seen Munsters is not great on location. I don't think TAFG cost a premium over the original either.

#121 4 years ago

I'm honestly more tempted to get a Munsters colored prem now.

I think this was planned but I didn't see it coming, at least not so soon.

I fall into the category of not being able to spend the $$$ on an LE but wanted colored and lower pf.

#122 4 years ago

CatWoman should have the under playfield from Munsters prem.

Quoted from jp1985:

What kind of information do you have that tells you Munsters is not a great location game?

As ugly as it is they should have charged less for the gold version. Same with LOTR.

#125 4 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

At the location I help out at here, it has been a sad underperformer. 11 games, all well maintained and all new Sterns including Beatles Gold. GOTG and Deadpool destroy Munsters and even Black Knight even though it is new.

Quoted from Rarehero:

As much as I suspect some would love it if any LE buyers would be "pissed". The answer is "No" Would it be even more to a advantage if the LE's were diffo..sure. but, pissed? No.

Black Knight had a 500 limited edition. The only difference was the apron.

I WANT to like the Catwoman translite, but what is up with the cat statue just sort of floating on her arm... that looks REALLY lazy to me...

Cool, more options for people to choose from. I would guess stern started working on the colored premium as soon as the heard the demand for it on release day. Nice to see more BM66 even though it's not much of an art update. Would have loved to have seen a full new art package for the BG and cabinet.

As for everyone whining, get a life. If this is upsetting you are going to live one very upset life.

#130 4 years ago

Disappointed in Catman66 design. Only place to see major villians is on backbox decal. Catwoman would have looked ridiculous crawling on the cabinet, so at least Stern had the good sense to avoid that trap.
Stern should have redesigned premium cabinet artwork to match Catwoman themed edition. And now for the backglass ... there were 2 catwomen and one batgirl, right? All should be shown in the midst of a HUGE catfight! That version would have been titilating and made sense.

I don't think anyone who spends their time hanging out in a pinball forum has much high ground to stand on telling people to get a life or how to spend their time. If the whining bothers you take your own advice, go outside. People are allowed to have opinions you don't agree with, don't get upset over it.

I'll personally continue to hang out and talk shop and whine and whatever else I feel like. I'm good with my life.

That's because the art wasn't done for the pinball at all, it's a photoshop job of existing Franchi art he did for a Catwoman model. She wasn't holding the statue, it was just awkwardly tucked in on top of the existing pose of her hand on her hip. It looks lazy because it is, both in execution, and in reusing art instead of commissioning something new for the edition. The whole thing might look very familiar ...

Yeah I know - I was just F’in around. Stern used to do it that way too, to celebrate a great game, like Spider-Man Black....but that pissed off Spider-Man Red buyers. Well, not sure why they made Dale Jr. lol ...I don’t think Elvis Gold was a quick seller either...LOTR SE didn’t fly off the shelves. Avatar LE coming out after the regular version pissed people off.

Oh well, the truth is - ever since Stern locked in the tier system & hyped the LE’s up front, they went from bust to boom...and everyone will be pissed off about something. Whatever one thinks of it, it works as a marketing and business tool. If you don’t like the tiers, just get the version you like best & pretend the others don’t exist.

Most likely a slapped together art job with the assets they had to work with. I noticed that first off and it just looks like an eyesore.

A lot of the early "LE"s were spearheaded by Jack at pinballsales. He had some influence being the top Stern distro back then.

I disagree, the same pose yes, but the face and angle is totally different...

Going outside now

What in the name of Lazo, the god of laziness, is this?!?!?

Stern can’t even change the art on the cab?!?!?

When I have to do a mental check if it’s April fool’s day, you know they have reached near the theoretical limit of low effort.

The face and hair were redone (and look better imo) rest of the pose is the same, except for the statue. Hard to do an exact comparison since the pin photo is at an angle and matching the perspective perfectly would take more time than I care to spend on this, but you can see it clearly enough I'm sure.

It wouldn't be so bad to reuse an old painting if they hadn't put the cat statue in, but it's so clearly floating there that it wrecks the rest of it for me at least. Why even do that? Her pose was fine without it.

If I wanted a Batman pinball I can tell you for sure it wouldn't be Catwoman edition.
Batman is the star (and Robin to some extent) and Catwoman is as important as any of the other villains for sure but as an edition, nope.
I don't get it, but if you like it more power to you. Seems like an odd choice. I bet they sell 10.

Agreed. The negative space in the arm gap they tried to fill would have looked so much better left alone. Stern needs to hire some new CDs and ADs.

In Batman case... MONEY GRAB lets try and sell some more! Lets keep this money train running.

In Munsters case ... game not that good, not selling, LE already being sold for 2500 less than bought new, lets shake it up. Lets make a promo video on how the game was made, lets do a color premium lets just shake it up.

Why don't Stern just start making better games instead of rushing games to market? How about that for a change?

It's kinda like the Avengers Hulk Edition....I never quite understood that...if I'm buyin an Avengers pin, I want to see THE AVENGERS...not just one of them.

The face on the drawing from the plastic model kit looks like Julie Newmar, but Catwoman's face on the translite looks a bit like Angelina Jolie to me.
