Thanks be to Gorgar for the little blessings in life.

Me. Gorgar. Say. LCD. Ritchie.

Quoted from lllvjr:

There's no output to a sub...

From the IGN article…

"Speaking of rocking out, 10 KISS songs blast over Stern’s reworked sound system while you play: Deuce, Hotter Than Hell, Lick It Up, Shout It Our Loud, Detroit Rock City, Calling Dr. Love, Rock & Roll All Night, Love Gun, Love It Loud and Black Diamond. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons hit the studio to provide custom call-outs, as well. Sound is a big deal with a rock-themed game like KISS, so be nice to your local arcade operator and maybe she’ll let you plug into the audio out jack that’s standard on Stern’s new CPU board."

Not sure if you can hook a sub up to this audio out jack they mention.

Quoted from Flack:

I didn't catch it in the promo, but did anyone hear when it will be out? It looks far from being ready.

I think when they released the Metallica teaser it was just like this as far as showing pf toys and bits of not done art. Metallica was 2 months away if I remember correctly.

So who wants to buy my WOZ ECLE so I can make room for this?

#205 8 years ago

Me keep Gorgar, let others buy Kiss.

I think this seriously might be my first nib and my girl is into it too. A major concern we both have is how the ball seems to drop out pretty hard on to the playfield from Gene's mouth. Anyone else see a possible issue there?

#208 8 years ago
Quoted from the_one:

I assume many who mentioned "never ever a NIB Stern" won't remrmber their own words now

I said the same thing . This machine looks cool. The problem is I have become a pinball snob . I like the STERN LE models. Will have to see. If I wait to long to decide I will miss out on the Limited Edition . But my gut says wait till the code is solid. That is were STERN puts me in between a 'Rock and a Hard Place'

Quoted from JoelOmatik:

I gotta give HUGE props to using classic 70s pop bumper caps. Great way to bring retro pinball elements!
image.jpg

Guess nobody noticed those are Space Invader pop bumper caps, not Kiss caps.

#210 8 years ago
Quoted from Hudson:

The LE looks like it will be pretty cool. Unfortunately LE's are out of my budget range and I will probably never see one in the wild...
Wish Stern would just make one model of a game. Most LE's/Premiums probably have around $200-$300 in additional parts, but they cost $2000 more...

What makes you think if they did do just one version of the game that it wouldn't be the LE model at the same price point?

Never understood the objection to more choices.

Pro, Premium and LE versions = more choices = good.

Yes. That area needs a replaceable plate, not wood with a thin mylar cover on it.

EDIT: Watched the vid again and there is a row of inserts there. They will take a beating over time, but hopefully will be something restorers can work with if needed.

#212 8 years ago

Don't like Kiss but can't wait to play it.

#213 8 years ago

I was made for lovin' you .....

Quoted from vid1900:

Pretty great song lineup:
Deuce 10
Detroit Rock City 7
Shout it out Loud 7
Hotter than Hell 8
Calling Dr Love 10
Love Gun 10
Lick It Up 0
I Love it Loud 3
Black Diamond 10
Rock N Roll all Nite 8
So just swap out Lick it Up and I Love it Loud for two of:
I Stole Your Love
Christine Sixteen
Shock Me
God of Thunder
and that will be one hell of a line up!

I'm not a big fan of KISS music in that I've never bought a single CD (or cassette, record etc back in the day) but those songs really seem like they will fit a pin quite well. Just fun, energetic songs.

For those that want Peter and Ace to be part of this pinball experience, there are already mods available.

#216 8 years ago

For those keeping track.

Design by John Borg
Art by Kevin O'Connor (same guy as the original)
DOTS by Chuck Ernst(lead), Zac Stark, and Mark Galvez
Software by Lonnie Ropp, Tanio Klyce, Mike Kyzivat (the Star Trek team)

Rarely listen to a KISS song, but this looks awesome.
Hail Stern, they kept their boat floating through thick and thin, and now that pinball's making a comeback they're upping their game on the majority of what they come out with.
They're doing a good job mostly on the music themes, too it would seem...

I wonder if it doesn't have to do with music themes being a little looser on the licensing requisites. Not sure exactly how it goes with the record companies and all, but even though, say, a band like Metallica is signed for a record deal, they're still their own company as far as merchandising goes, right?
So instead of having to go through 17 layers of lawyers of IP holders and actor's likelinesses and head of marketing and the guy who sweeps the floors at Universal, at the end of the day it's James and Lars that give the go or no go, right?
So in the first case you have to play it as safe and bland and photoshopped as you can to not run into issues, and in the second you have to make something cool with Dirty Donny or a big Gene head to flatter Gene's big ego but you get to be a lot more free creatively.

All IMO, of course.

I want the French LE version. It has a working tongue.

At least on the LE, the tongue should move.....

YES!!!

Love my Tron and Metallica, Borg sounds good to me.

Quoted from mnpinball:

This is the coolest part of the whole thing. Awesome move on Stern's part.

Quoted from mnpinball:

Software by Lonnie Ropp, Tanio Klyce, Mike Kyzivat (the Star Trek team)

Here's where I get a little concerned, because my experience with Star Trek was frustrating. I definitely regret buying as early as I did. Doesn't mean that team can't deliver, they're all good guys, and all passionate about pinball.

But I'd want to know the plan for the code ahead of time. Star Trek was full of long waits, filled with just silence. And it wasn't much fun to know your game wasn't done, and really having no clue when/if it would get more work.

Just gonna say this: If you really love the theme and are just determined to buy this ASAP go for it. Knock yourself out. But please don't start threads complaining about how the code isn't done.

If Stern would just be up front about the plans so you could plan accordingly, even if it meant waiting, then it would be better I think.

#223 8 years ago

Looks like its based on the movie "KISS Meet The Phantom of the Park"

#224 8 years ago
Quoted from mnpinball:

.

Quoted from mnpinball:

Game will Rock !

Would have a better chance of rocking if they had the same software team that was on Mustang (which I know included Lonnie).

Quoted from Aurich:

Yep.

Will STERN announce only LE and Pro ..... and later the Premium

Get a clue all three have been announced

Ironically, the video shows those pop caps in the line art @ .22 seconds.

#227 8 years ago

Oddly, it was a Bally KISS for sale close to me at the local Mall on CL....my Wife showed me the ad, saying I needed a hobby....I bolted in my car w a wad of $100's in my pocket...machine sold 20 minutes before I got there....

Respected the Op as he wouldn't even let me pay him more for it on the spot....

Ended up buying a TAF, and the rest was history......( several years ago)

Moral of the story....I might have to make a little more room in the Den!!!..

#229 8 years ago

Not a KISS fan, but I like where they're going with it. LOOOOOOVE the hand drawn art!!!!!

#230 8 years ago

So I guess this means John Borg now likes Kiss?

#231 8 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

My favorite comment so far was the Veruca Salt suggestion. I know that band, I like that band, but that made me laugh out loud.

I saw Veruca Salt live in Denver years ago. I broke two ribs in the 'Mosh Pit '

Lick it Up 0?
I Love it Loud a 3?

C'mon Vid!

Christine Sixteen won't be anywhere near it. I can't believe they left off I was Made for Loving You - that is staple to their show up to today and is a huge hit worldwide. Would have been nice if Strutter, Got to Choose, or something past 1983.

No ballads either.

#234 8 years ago

No Cold Gin, no sale.

#235 8 years ago

I thought Barenaked Ladies was the next Stern music pin

#236 8 years ago
Quoted from MinusWorlds:

KISS, try over 60 (ducks)

I'm born '76, KISS was the first "real" music I listened to. I had the "Destroyer" backpatch sewn on a denim jacket when I was about 7 yo.

Although, I will not spend my money on this one for my private, will work great in bars and for operators no doubt.

Anyhow, this will speak for a large crowd at least 39+

#237 8 years ago

Aarrggghhh, looks good early. So many new pins. Went through my room and took all my "keeper" signs off my keepers this morning. I gotta make some room. Pending some nice juicy complete code of course.

#238 8 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

So many of the same tired comments we've been seeing for years... 'I hate KISS so the pinball machine sucks.' Free speech on the Internet, I guess.
I'm excited and I get why others aren't. But Christ, folks, don't judge the game or the theme until you play it.
My favorite comment so far was the Veruca Salt suggestion. I know that band, I like that band, but that made me laugh out loud.

I liked kiss in the seventies, watched the band grow 'mature' in the eighties and nineties. Song selection looks good, layout looks unique. I'll try to play a wait and see on this one.

#239 8 years ago

You know this is going to be good. It's been "next" in the queue for 5 years. Final Code coming Q4 2016.

#240 8 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

No Cold Gin, no sale.

No "When that bitch bends over mulitball, no sale".

#241 8 years ago

...and how is there not an "Unholy" mode!? I loved how dark and heavy they got with this song.

#242 8 years ago

I can see it now...An extra slot where you pour the Viagra in...

#243 8 years ago

Love what I see, big fan of the Bally 78 pin and I love the fact they have the original artist doing art on this one. Great call! I would love to get a LE and this is going to be a big hit for Stern. It's time to rock and roll all night and play pinball everyday!

#244 8 years ago

Looks Interesting.....but not really Rocking me.
Now, If they can add the fire and pyrotechnics inside the game.........hmmmmm.....

#245 8 years ago

Not a fan of Kiss and not going to get this game but I absolutely love the art and the Gene head scupt.. very impressive.

#246 8 years ago

Awesome. I just saved 7400 bucks. Whew...Thanks Stern.

#247 8 years ago

What Kiss should have as a song list IMHO (Keeping it classic first line-up)

Strutter
Cold Gin
Deuce
Black Diamond
Got to Choose
Hotter than Hell
Rock and Roll All Night
Detroit Rock City
Shout it Out Loud
I Stole Your Love

Honorable Mentions:

Shock Me (Who cares if Ace is singing. Pay him some royalties dammit)
Calling Dr. Love
Love Gun (great song just not for kids)
Plaster Caster (great song just not for the kids)

I like the songs "I Love it Loud" "Lick it Up" "Domino" just like the 70's stuff and want to keep it 70's.

Its a damn shame that we (most likely) won't see a version with Peter and Ace in the art instead of their replacements.

#248 8 years ago

Red glo balls for a 3 ball multiball that spits out of Gene Simmons toy would be excellent.

What no love for Lick it Up.. Come on???

Well, I'm not really an AC/DC fan but I've got a premium one of those in the basement. It's not because of the music but the gameplay/ruleset kicks ass. Given that Stern has had a few more years and some actual competition since then it's entirely possible this could be a great game. I'd prefer if there was a Shannon Tweed LE version vs the Gene mouth but you can't have everything...
