When it's time to get a new game for the route, I have to ask myself "What are my options?"

Stern NiB - just over $7K here with taxes and shipping due to our weak dollar

*insert other pinball company name* NiB - $10K and up after taxes and shipping

Used titles - either complete projects priced like players games ($3K and up) or totally blinged out, replacement everything 20 year old machines for 3 to 4 times the price of a players condition game. If you can find anything! Plus add travel time and time spent getting the game reliable enough to put on route.

    WWJD? (What would Jason do?)

    Quoted from PinballCompany:

The Pinside community has a voice. But it is getting drowned out by the one percenters who are buying Sterns and are a lot less price sensitive.

Increasing prices of NiB over the past 4 years combined with a weak currency against the USD hurts for sure. This goes for all NiB manufacturers, not just Stern.

Also, shouldn't we look in the mirror a bit as well? Older machines have gone up the same or higher. And these are private sales ... no over head, no employees to pay, no profit margins to maintain. Just pure profit and greed.

Buy an Addams Family for $3k four years ago, and sell for $6K today.

    Supply and demand.

    Quoted from Astropin:

TAF was not 3k in 2012/2013. I'd have one if it was. The popular (4k+) 90's games have gone up about $500-1000 since 2012.

I'm pretty sure I know how much I paid for every machine I've purchased.

    Quoted from Astropin:

So what you paid for one machine four years ago dictates what the actual market value of said machine was four years ago?
    Bizarre response.

Not at all. Market is different in different geographic regions, no?

Where I am located, a players TAF was $3k 4 years ago. It is now $6K for a players TAF. If you can find one.

Sorry for adding my 2 cents. I'll bow out now.

    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Your numbers you are using are all in US dollars right?

Four years ago our dollar was at par. It's dropped 25% since then vs USD.

The point I was making was that the used market has increased as much if not more than NIB.

Disclaimer: At least where I am located. Apparently someone else's experience and geographic region sets market price.
