I have never played Ali in a tournament and felt that the bonus collect or GREATEST letter collects were repetitive gimmes, or that rolling the game is something that happens even semi-frequently.
INDISC 2020 it was in both Classics I and II and out of 200+ games including final rounds was only rolled 3 times. The tournament strategy is generally increasing your multiplier on the upper drops and then hoping you eventually get a chance to collect a decent bonus. Key word being hoping. The bonus collect is not an easy shot and being able to repeat it is quite skillful.
As a tournament player I think there are lots of other games that need more love than Ali, but if I were looking for changes they would pretty much only be maybe a way to make the spinner worth shooting.
