Dead simple to install. The cabs are pre-drilled and t-nutted for the shaker motor. You want this:

Agree with using constants at the beginning of code. But here that would only apply if setting #xx was always multiball ... setting. And a coder does fall in the trap of what they do too much. Like for instance a coder that almost never has what he writes directly on the screen. He calls pictures and animations. I mean with the change to LCD recently and this being a first production game for Lonny. Give him a break.

So old and boring "this shot copies xyz" - let's play the game, the toy box shot is like... star child, Frankenstein in monster bash, witch in WOZ, quorra, potc ship, eight ball deluxe multiplier in line drops, orthanc tower, "300"/soccer collect bonus saucers, multiplier on future spa, casino saucer on Jackbot, slimer, AFM lock, AMH hospital door .... repeat until you can't breathe. Nearly every thread?! Fan layouts all look like, well, fan layouts. There's around 8 shots, kinda in the same place on 80% of all tables ever made. Kiss and AS don't play alike. AS feels much different, is more fun, and better rules. C'mon, The scooby doo style animations are great.

I pick up my premium tomorrow - played pro and LE, like the upper pf, and it matters in the ruleset - elevator, PF multiplier - most of the players I know say they prefer the upper PF and how it's used.

No. What I'm saying is if Lonnie (or whoever) had defined gamename variable as "KISS" then in his system menus only referenced gamename and NEVER the actual name, it would replace gamename with KISS at compile time EVERYWHERE. Then when AS comes around he changes the #define for gamename to "Aerosmith" (or shorter if space needed) and all those settings now immediately become Aerosmith. Doesn't matter what the setting is, if the game name is referenced, use a define.

Now, as you pointed out, if it's a graphic that's more complicated, but there are ways to streamline that flow, too.

Point is, reusing a code base is good, but you need to have a well designed set of tools. WAY too many programmers end up jumping in and making spaghetti that isn't modular. It's a universal thing at ALL levels, just because bad code is easier than good code - INITIALLY. Eventually bad code becomes a much larger burden. I've seen and worked with the worst spaghetti code you can imagine written at the professional level in Japan and Europe's biggest game companies. Some is shockingly bad. No one is immune.

I have a shaker motor in the Pro, and it goes off when you start multiball, when you hit jackpots, when you hit the scoop to start "Crank It Up", when you start "Super" modes, etc.

You definitely notice it's there if you're making your shots & progressing through the game.

I installed a shaker on my LE few weeks ago and I feel it does an excellent job. I finally got to the Medley Wizard mode and made a few shots, but did not complete it. I had it set at 3 balls with all the extra balls turned on and it was an unusual high scoring game of 565,731,760. Most of mine are are 200,000,000 "if" i have a decent game.

We will see if that can be duplicated ever again, but it was nice to actually get through the modes and experience what I needed to do. For some parts I still don't know, but just followed the blinking shots however the logic and patterns I need to really understand more and read up on. I have been reading this for help, not sure if it was posted in this thread, but regardless this is a good starting point for rules:

I was playing this weekend and was one song away from Medley so I figured I would just craddle the ball to get to Medley but the timer stopped counting down. Has anyone else seen this or did I just have one to many beers? Does Aerosmith not let you craddle the ball and timeout songs? As soon as I shot the safest middle ramp shot, it started counting down again.

I'm pretty sure my No Fear does the same thing during its modes. If you cradle the ball, the timer stops until you hit something at which point it starts counting down again.

That is a feature on a lot of games.
Makes you actually play the game instead of standing around and timing out modes.
Works great in tournaments but might be a bit frustrating on your home pin.

shaker is an absolute MUST in any music pin. I'm upgrading the speakers & hooking up a sub, just like with MET. It takes it to a whole different level of game play experience.

By design I am sure. After the initial Star Trek code, they have gone away from being able to time out modes. At least on most games.

There is an option in the menu to stop timers or not - so you can choose what you like.

Nope, the shaker is a disappointment on AS with current code. I don't even realize it's installed. I've had shakers on all my machines that use them and this is the worst implementation I can remember.

<Edit - during same old song and dance not all lit shots cause the shaker to go off, only a few. Crank it up still does when lit and so does the toy box and lock, but some others do not. During the other songs each lit shot initiates the shaker>.

And super pops and super scoring and other super modes? I don't know what some of you guys are talking about, the thing is good on mine. Better than some, not as great as others maybe. Very similar to the shaker integration on Kiss. Oh, oh, watch out, here come the boo birds - yet another piece of Kiss that was ported over.

Also , not sure if anyone gives a dick, but I was getting irritated that 75 games after installing 1.03 I still hadn't seen any smart missiles (they were present in 1.02) , so I contacted Stern via email. David Carver responded the next day. Here's the response I got back today from Master Carver:

"
Hello Big Andy,
I have been told the smart missile is no longer present in the code.
Thank you.
"

Wtf is up with that?

I played a game right after I posted and still wasn't impressed with the shaker.

I'm going to do an experiment tonight and crank up my shaker with a physical adjustment.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Check your adjustments too .. there is usually a shaker adjustment, set it to "max" if it isn't already.

I received my special 1 of 1 PROmium edition on Friday. It came with 1.02 code installed. When locking a ball on code 1.02 the jester would freeze during the animation sequence and if I recall correctly the toy box would close and then the ball would fire over at the closed toy box. Yes, it still registers the locked ball. So I assumed a code update would fix this. I updated the code yesterday and the problem is still there. Is this a known bug that still exists in 1.03 code?

This isn't a bug. The game won't keep locking balls in the toy box if there are already balls in there. So it specifically closes the box and launches the ball to miss on purpose. If you watch the animation, it will show something with Jackie getting hit in the face or some other animation that indicates the ball is NOT going to go into the toybox.

Forgive me if folks already discussed this, but I was experiencing really bad airballs on my machine whenever anyone would brick a shot up the center ramp (not me of course, I would NEVER brick a shot to that easy to hit center ramp .) pitch set at 6.8 degrees. I was worried about breaking plastics so I changed out the mini posts at the ramp entrance with full posts (http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=323) and some Titan post sleeves and no more airballs. Similar to what some Xmen LE owners did on their side ramps.

Agreed, and who cares if one game copies another as long as it's good?? They can copy pins like TWD all they want to as far as I'm concerned.

I just picked up an AS with 1.03 code- it still has smart missiles. I haven't seen them often but have been awarded them from the mystery scoop.
a question for other AS owners-- during the multiball start the spot light on Jacky doesnt come on when he starts to shake. Is this normal behavior? Seems to me it should be like Sparky on Metallica and have some sort of light show featuring Jacky.

Hmmm, well I guess that's good to hear, I know they aren't awarded often but wonder why I'm not getting them on my game. And why a Stern employee gave out incorrect info as a response to a tech support inquiry.

Shaker setting was max and the weights were set at max (same angle), so no opportunities there.

I just don't think it is as active as on TWD, GOT or ACDC.

Yes. Seems like Jacky gets way to dark before the start of MB.

Made me think the spotlight was broken.
Buy noticed it was on at other times.
Really strange.

The more I play this pin, the more I love it. Gets the adrenaline going just as much as MET IMHO. Love the choice/risk to try and get to a 6 ball multiball.

Is there a way to adjust the lock launch into the toybox? We got a Premium in and the lock shoots high and to the left 9 times out of 10. Almost never goes IN. Coil pulse is set to soft.

I believe it is - Standard adjustments, Feature adjustments, #4 toy box Div power. Mine is set at 200

Yes. I posted a while back. I lowered mine about 80points. I think it's in the AS adjustment menu

Took it down to 140 and it's better at probably 4 out of 5 tries making it. I'll keep playing with it.

EDIT: I dunno, now it's inconsistent again. Is Toybox Diverter the right adjustment?

What has happened to Stern AS production? I ordered one from our distributor 4 weeks ago and still may not get it for another 2 weeks...

Distributors are moving a ton of AS's. Also, some shipments might be delayed because people who have ordered Pro's are getting Premiums instead(like me). I just hope the guy who ordered a Premium doesn't receive a Pro
