I hope to see a Grand Theft Auto 5 themed game at some point. It's a well know video game franchise and one of the best selling video game titles of all time. So I wonder why it hasn't been made yet. It would be a instand buy for me.

Not loved very much here on Pinside, but Street Fighter 2 by Gottlieb sold 5550 . games. Pretty good and for a Gottlieb table.

Like to see a generic Western. Yeah, Westerns aren't too hot right now.

John Coltrane and Bach were before my time but I still know who they are and I can still appreciate their music because it's timeless. If Rush was not popular in your era I would suggest pulling up Moving Pictures on YouTube and have a listen. They are a cornerstone band in the progressive rock genre, right up there with Deep Purple, Yes, and Tool.

If they do a Rush pin I hope to see something innovative to highlight Neil Peart, arguably the best rock drummer who has ever lived.

I’d like to see a drum solo mode. Imagine being cradled up. All you hear is a high hat tapping out the beat. Small tambourine symbols on the high hat add to the richness of the beat. The bass drum kicks out a simple heartbeat on the quarter notes. As you flip the ball it hits the left ramp which triggers a drum fill that’s *synced* with the tempo. As the ball returns to your flipper you send it into the drop targets; each one triggers its syncopated solo. As the ball moves into the pops you hear the solo now focus more on the cymbals. Next, the ball feeds down on to your third flipper where you launch it into a hard to reach target that triggers a huge gong. The drum solo isn’t just playing, you’re controlling it. Again, once that ball returns to your flipper and you cradle up the solo returns to that heartbeat of the bass kick and the high hats only.

This could have been done on Led Zeppelin. The drum solo by John Bonham on the Song Remains the Same set the bar for that era. I hope if we do get a Rush pin that we’ll see something more creative.

No, but I’m genuinely curious how you could have avoided them. I’m serious. Do you not like classic rock? Do you not listen to music on the radio? Do you not watch movies or tv shows?

The point of the videos to show that Rush is deeply ingrained in the pop culture of ~45-55 year-old white dudes...aka people who buy pinball. 500 Rush LEs would sell out instantly.

Just to back up PopBumperPete, Rush are close to unknown in Australia. They certainly never had a charting single here, and quite probably no charting album either. I genuinely had never heard of them until chatter started up on Pinside some years ago about a Rush pinball machine.

It's not a Canadian thing either. Two of my all-time favourite bands are The Tragically Hip and The New Pornographers, among a suite of Canadian bands I love, and my wife has just unwrapped the latest Joni Mitchell box set of CDs

Which of course doesn't mean there shouldn't be a Rush pinball machine. Having listened to them a bit I can see the appeal in potential modes, if not the music. Based on the theme alone there won't be much of a market in Australia, but what mug buys on theme alone? As always, game play is king...

I’m 35, am pretty familiar with music and couldn’t name a single song besides Tom Sawyer. I’m going to change that but the fact is not even close to the level of fame as the other bands that have had pins based on them except maybe rob zombie

Rush is a Canadian band. They have had 17 platinum albums specifically in Canada.

You’re maybe a tad too young for Rush. Nothing wrong with that - but Rush has a very passionate fanbase & has a very specific crossover with people who’d buy a pinball machine. 45+, white, geeky, has disposable income & buys toys and gadgets. They could probably sell most of the LEs to Rush loving celebs & musicians alone.

Rush would be a bad theme for European sales.
They are not popular/unknown in Europe.

Well, I for one hope Queen gets made in 2021. Stern has the Queen license now right? I know Andrew had it, or at least claimed to have it, before his “exit”.

In 2012-13, Rush on tour expanded beyond North America to Sweden, Finland, England, Scotland, Holland and Germany. Certainly more dominant in North America but they do have broader exposure.

I'm a massive rock fan and metalhead and only vaguely familiar with the band Rush (heard them mentioned only). I just googled and not sure if I've ever heard their music before. They seem to have a good sound so with some time I am sure I could gain some appreciation. Definitely not much exposure to the band out here in Australia that I'm aware of. I'm 47 but maybe I'm not old enough lol.

Same here (the Netherlands): I didn't know Rush until mentioned here on pinside. Maybe heard of them once or twice, but I couldn't recognise one song by them, let alone name one.
They do have one song in our yearly top2000 though, but to give you an idea of how 'big' Rush is in the Netherlands: they've never been in the top 1000 so far and no top2000 spot before the year 2015 (https://www.top2000nl.com/spirit-of-radio-rush-top-2000/)

I think it won't do well in Europe at all, but having the (temporary?) 25% tarifs: right now would be a good time to release a Rush pinball and come back with a better Europe suited theme when the tarifs have gone.

No matter what the theme is though, I always like new pinballs. Godzilla: could be nice, but not a theme I really care for. Jaws I couldn't care less about the theme, but I'd still be exited if a Jaws-pinball comes to market!
I'd like a Zelda game or a David Bowie pinball (not sure if that's suited for pinball, but being a fan I'd have to buy it ): both won't happen I think.

It doesn’t matter at this point. European(German) sales decreased a lot since the additional 25% tax were introduced. No one is willing to pay 8k for a Pro. 10k for a Premium or 13k for an LE.
I think until government has reverted those 25% tax, sales will remain low.

Terrible Logic. Just because these themes "flopped" in the 80's and 90's is no indication of how they would do in 2020s. In fact, the recent success of TMNT and Rick and Morty prove younger aimed themes sell. Stern can make both old white guy rock themes and younger themes, that is why they make 3+ games per year.

If Elwin makes Rush I would finally know how all the people that hate iron maiden music feel.....I'd give it a chance because of Elwin but he'd better blow it out of the water for it to have any chance of overcoming that horrendous theme.

Back to the Future by Elwin would be amazing! Would prefer to have JJP make it but at this point I just want to see a new one made.

Well, by now I think we can all safely say bands like Rush or The Grateful Dead are pretty unknown outside US and Canada. It would be like releasing a Stromae pinball machine in the US, or Triggerfinger. Well known here, not so much overseas.

I guess the Rush fans will have to do without the world dominance they thought they had.

I'm still in for a Bruce Springsteen pin. I think a Seinfeld or Office pin would be fun. It fits in with the old guy themes LOL. I do think a Harry Potter would sell but with J.K. Rowings BS saying there's no such thing as a transgender person is why I will never buy one.

Rush would be good, but it would have to come with a joint roller or special pipe so you could experience Rush, the way they were
meant to be experienced.:}

TMNT is the 80s show. It’s not for younger audiences, it’s aimed at me - someone nostalgic for the cartoon I loved as a kid. R&M is an adult show, and dirty humor appeals to the usual pinball demo.

For the record Rush toured in Sweden, Finland, England, Scotland, Holland, Germany along with US and Canada in 2012. The core fans are certainly in the US but there are definitely fans in Europe. They were active from 1968–2018, sold over 40 million albums, nominated for 7 Grammy Awards, and members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It is absolutely OK if you've never heard of Rush and even under the best circumstances, the band has always been sonically divisive: either you love them or hate them. Women never connected with their music; the band was famous for having a 99.9 percent male audience at the shows

It remains to be seen if Rush will make for a good theme that will sell. There's certainly an audience for this pin but skepticism on the theme being a smash hit is understandable. The only thing I know for sure is that a band that toured and recorded for 50 years and is considered a staple band on every Classic Rock playlist can not be compared to Stromae.

People bitch and moan about the Star Wars pin but they sold a ton of those (I think its a great game also)

There’s no denying their popularity here, I was genuinely surprised that so far no pinsiders from Australia or Europe had heard of them, or say they were fans.

That’s cool, there’s a house by me that you pull up and turn on a radio station and the lights are synced to the music.

Well, I can’t think of any Disney movies that had their music so... I went through this w/ maiden, but we all have different upbringings. Also, some people live under rocks. When The Who played the Super Bowl halftime show, my friends didn’t know who they were?!? Some of which were musicians! Unbelievable....

To me the best Stern game and prices are up over 7K so why not if they can get the license back.

I think if a LOTRs vault is made it’ll be a significant revamp (similar to SM) with new artwork and possibly even the LCD display. Wouldn’t that be incredible? It would sell like hot cakes too....

I cant imagine them doing Slayer... its too over the top and divisive they always like to cast as wide a net as possible.

Plus they have sold 20 million records... not that that sucks but the bands they tend to do are in the 100 million + club.

Same with Beastie Boys which comes up all the time.

I’ve been on a list with a distributor for probably close to a year for LoTR Vault so there is definitely interest.

They had to make an alternate soundtrack for bksor because it was to heavy for most. I liked slayer back in the day, but agree.
