MAJOR UPDATE:
The last post was 1,086 days ago.
- After I finished sanding the cabinet I brought it to some friends of mine to smooth it out and install the decals for me. I was not comfortable installing decals so it was better to rely on my buddy who does a great job restoring machines. Kevin and Aaron S., Thank you for all your hard work on the cabinet. It turned out amazing, and I love it.
- I had begun populating the new playfield, but with my bad back and short on free time I chose to hire another set of great friends to complete this task for me. Of course they did an amazing job and I could not be happier. Chris and Gina L., Thank you so much for all your hard work. The playfield received all new Comet LED's, Colored webs, new ramps, new ramp flaps, new ramp decals, target decals, new plastics set, Titan rubbers, all new ramp protectors, all Cliffy's, and I'm sure a few other things I am forgetting.
- I brought the metal to a local powder coating shop. I am very please with their work, and I am super happy to have chosen them for the project. They, like me are a family owned and operated, local business. The base coat I chose was Ink Black. The top coat I chose is Baby Rockstar Sparkle. There are small silver flecks mixed in with the clear coat. It looks amazing in person.
- After getting all the metal on a few weeks ago the project went a little stale again for a few weeks. Fast forward to today. A lot of Houston was shut down due to the roads not being safe to be on. Thanks later winter artic blast. It is very rare for this area to see snow, much less 3-5" of it in one night. With the roads not being safe to drive on I had the day off. This allowed for so much progress on Spiderman to be made.
- Today, I installed the playfield, wired everything up, and FIRED UP THE MACHINE! WOOOOOOO! For the first time in almost 3 years I was able to play a game on this machine. I was so happy and excited.
- There are a few minor things to take care of. I plan to install an LED OCD board, check a few insert LED's, install the Matt McKee lighted topper, adjust a few switches, purchase and install the back side of the shooter plate (I think the powder coater lost this), find and install the power supply for the speaker lights, install chrome trim on back box, install a ballast, install the translite on the glass with new trim, and install a new back box lock.
To those of you who followed this journey, thank you.
To those of you who encouraged me to continue, thank you.
To those of you who helped me in one way or another, thank you.
To Brian F., Chris and Gina L., Kevin and Aaron S, and anyone else that I can not think of at the moment, Thank you.
This is been one heck of a build and I am very proud of it. This is definitely a 1 of 1 Spiderman.
The next posts will be photos.
Enjoy the pictures!
