Good luck to everyone competing in state championship tournaments this coming weekend! I get the defending state champion as my first opponent. Hope everyone including myself brings their A game!!

    #2 1 year ago

I get to play my 15 year old son first round and I probably won't win!

    #3 1 year ago

I'm not playing it it this year but rather hosting it for Michigan. I'm more stressed out getting all the games set up and ready than when I played in this a couple years ago. But I think everything is ready to go...

    Good luck to those competing!

It is amusing to me that I know so many of the ranked players in my state. Good luck to everyone!

I'm still trying to get a shift trade so that I can even go on Saturday...it's literally like 7 miles from where I live, and I'm not going to get to go, fk'ing stupid.

really excited to come play and hang out next weekend.

I have not been playing much pinball lately but still excited to just be able to attend this year, play with you all, and check out that sweet collection.

Gonna be fun to play Jim R in round 1 as I think it should be a tight matchup and we both tend to like similar games

I squeaked in again, and while not having much of a chance of making past the 1st round, cannot wait. Love the concept of the SCS no matter how flawed the nonresident rule is.

    i won North Dakota.

    Any other results yet?

Mark and Colin had a great battle too, which should be mentioned. All 7 games, and watching them go at Surf Side was pretty damn hilarious. It's just kind of sad that the whole thing came down to basically two Groot jackpots, IMO. Sorry Stern, but the rules on GOTG suck balls....right into Groot's mouth. ¬_¬

I finished 10th, which is terrible. I'd love to blame my sore neck and shoulder, or my re-injured knee (fell on it rollerskating a month ago, prior torn unrepaired ACL), but the honest truth is that I just didn't give enough f's. It's not as though I was playing terribly either. I qualified first in our side tourney, but again..too few f's to give, because I'm done chasing points, and the pot on that was only as much as I'd spent (30 bucks? Whee lol) to play pinball all day. All in all, was a good event and it was kind of nice to have a SCS for a change where the focus was NOT on modern games. I'll post some pics of the lineup we had here in a bit.

It looks like he also won the best beard contest!

He would probably win that as well.

Brian Shepard won KY for the second straight year.

I crapped out first round. Had a good battle that went 7 games though. Fun as always. Can’t wait for next year!!

I was number one in my province. Won the first 2 games, & then lost 4 in a row. I always know the top players all have a equal chance of winning. I had great games in practice, but came up extremely short later on. What I really thought on losing was how games from around the early 80's on. The jackpots & other scoring kills you. You can play with low scoring for some time compared to having scoring extreme value in multi ball or getting stuff completed.

Celebrating my Florida win afterwards with my son Atticus who is a two-time Florida State Champion (Are we the first family to win state pinball championships?)

The KISS cd is part of a running inside joke. I "sold my soul" years ago at a SCS while playing game 7 on KISS and in the heat of battle yelled to the pinball gods I would buy a KISS cd if I won that game. (I never agreed to open or listen to it! ) Later I promised Atticus if I ever won the Florida title we would open the sealed case and listen to one song.

I am a man of my word.

Edit-Colin MacAlpine pointed out the Zahler family in NJ beat us to it. Nonetheless, it is a pretty cool statistic to have fathers and sons winning the same state championship.

Petey Hendricks took the WV State Championship, with Jeremy Ways coming in 2nd and Travis Ruckle in 3rd. Brian Dye ran a great tournament and there were no hitches along the way...everything went smooth as could be. Looking forward to next year! Here are some shots from the weekend's festivities...
