I needed another project like I need a hole in my head but here I am. Picked up a partially playing F-14 for a steal ($800) so couldn't say no. I thought since I have plenty of other games to play rather than rush through and fix and hit it with a basic shop job, I might go full resto on this one. This will be my fist time going full tear down. And one of the biggest hurdles I need to decide on is the board set.

Normally I do mild board stuff and if I need them really gone through I send them out to Clive at the coin op cauldron. In this case the MPU board is absolutely the worst hack job I have ever seen and beyond repair. I really want this game to be bullet proof when it's done so I was thinking of going to an aftermarket MPU and power supply board. From the bit of looking around I have done it seems rotten dog is the only option for an MPU board and they are pricey. Any other options out there? Any advice anyone wants to offer I will gladly listen. I am a novice at pin repair and always learning so I appreciate everyone's time and knowledge. I will likely start a resto thread once I get actually going on it here soon.
