My Stern Stars has had a persistent problem with intermittent tilts from the spinner switches. It is mainly the left one, and it happens most but not all of the time, when the ball goes thru and spins it, the machine will tilt - not immediately, but towards the end of the spinning. I have all brand new boards in the machine, and I just replaced the spin switch diode to see if it would help, but it doesn't. Would replacing the spinner switch make any difference? Any ideas appreciated.

Do this: At the start of a ball, manually knock down drop target #3 (just left of the spinner), hold a 10 point switch closed while you spin the left spinner. If the game tilts you have a shorted diode on one of the 10 point switches. According to the schematics there are 7 of them. Check them all.

It does tilt when I do that. I checked all seven 10 point switch diodes on several occasions and they all test out ok. Any other recommendations? Replace them anyway? Thanks.

Remove the caps, if present, from the tilt switches.

The only cap I could find on a tilt switch was this one, the rolling ball / horizontal mechanism on the left side of the cabinet. I cut one leg of the cap. And that seems to have helped a lot! It seems to be tilting considerably less frequently - perhaps 2/3 less of the time, but it still occurs unfortunately. I'm grateful that it is better, but wish the tilt problem would go away. Any other ideas? Thanks much!

If you try this WITHOUT dropping the #3 target (or putting a piece of paper between the switch blades so it can't physically close), does it still tilt?
