Timely...I'm in the market for one. Let me know if any one wants to sell.
I got offered 5.5k for mine and didn't even consider it. There unattainable in mine mind unless your building one
Quoted from Methos:Any idea what a Star Gazer would fetch nowadays, with one of John's PFs with it?
Quoted from jj44114:besides, why chime in. I'm looking for a seller. Obviously you are not one.
I was referring to this post.....that's why I'm chiming in
Quoted from jj44114:I've heard that before. You should have taken the 5.5
And I'm sure most ppl with a restored SG anit letting it go at 5.5k
what's one realistically worth, nice original shape. I know of one that I am considering. backglass is perfect, playfield has a little wear.
Has anyone tried to color match the blue on a Star Gazer cabinet? I’ve heard Rustoleum Universal, Cobalt Blue is close. Just wonder if anyone has other suggestions.
Since my jigs are complete I no longer need to use my play field to check for fit. So I'll start getting it together with the proper parts so I can play it! If anyone wants me to put up the build like I did with the insert panel just say so. Meanwhile, I managed to get the rails on today.
20180923_182513.jpgHi guys, can anybody take a picture of the wire placement on the back of the rectifier board. Did a new pinhead board replacement, but must have reversed 2 wires. Does anyone have a material list for the number and type of light bulb sockets that are required in the playfield and backbox? More interested in the type/size in the playfield but a list would work if anyone knows for both in making a complete order. Thanks.

Star Rollovers: It is like the one above but it has a shorter barrel on it. I can find it.

In regards to the stand up targets on this machine; is there a supplier that has them in stock or an alternative target that can be modified? I have not found one yet. I know the target face may have to be switched.
Bob Langelius produces excellent replacement targets, both yellow and white.

Bob makes great replacement targets.
If you have strange tastes with colors, Big Daddy has some stand up targets that will work. I wish he had some in yellow.

If I recall well, these are actually also manufactured by Bob.

Thanks for the advise. I did that the other day and am just waiting on the response.
What I am really looking for is the actual switch that the target resides in. I know PBR is out of stock and there are other suppliers on-line that are out as well. Just wonder if there are any substitutes available or I just have not found the target switch in stock yet. If there is a know source just let me know or PM me. Much appreciated.
Quoted from rvdv:Looking to get some input what a nice condition but unrestored Stargazer is worth?
Today, this market, with no information at all and "nice" is subjective (i.e. play field condition?, back glass condition? ), I think it would start at $2500/$3000. And probably a lot more.
Quoted from rvdv:Looking to get some input what a nice condition but unrestored Stargazer is worth?
FWIW, I paid $2K for my unrestored example 4-1/2 years ago.
If the backglass is a 9+ and playfield has typical wear, then $3.5K would probably be the low end.
Thanks for the input
New back glass and game needs some tech work and shopping out, playfield is very nice
Can as well
Hello guys
My latest find
I am currently looking for a high resolution photo of the back glass 1028×1028 or higher in order to place an order for a repro.
I know that already some people doing reproductions however it will cost me a fortune to order it from US or Canada. Besides shipping cost which is very high there is also a ridiculously high customhouse tax in Greece as well.
So please can any send me this photo? It will really help me a lot.

You could check with John Greatwich and get both a backglass and playfield...
With what these games are going for these days, it's worth putting in quality parts. especially since people already put in the effort to make these available for us.

I don't know yet if the playfield needs to be replaced. I will receive the pin this Saturday and after cleaning I will know. For now it seems that there is a lot of dirt on the glass so I am hopping that playfield will be ok.
I don't know what is the story with the bar. I will replace it.
I will not be short on my expenses on this one and I am going to use quality parts. However a repro back glass from Canada will cost me about 550$ when I can get it here with less than 200$ if I got the photo.
So if any owner can help with a really high resolution photo I will sure be grateful.
Stargazer. Great game. Love mine.

Guys can any one explain this?
The shape of some of the Star Gazer letters are different, the gradient color fill/blend of those letters is different, the words "Bonus Multiplier" and "Plus" are absent, the shape of the right starburst, the woman's clothing colors/design, her face/hair are all different.

The playfield on the left has been touched up and repainted. The words are absent because they have worn off the inserts. Very common after thousands of plays on this awesome game.

That's right. I checked. It has been repainted. The true question here is what to do with it. Replace it with a repro or restore the repainted orginal playfield?

I've got a repro that I'd sell

The one on the left is Star Gazer's ugly twin sister.
Does anyone have a standup target diagram? I am trying to build the switches from scratch and do not have an example switch to go by. Trying to figure out all the parts and order that they go in.

This is a switch from a Seawitch. It is hard to make good pics of the stack. You may need to buy a switch to get a better look.

Here is my built switch. I may also add the foam backer on the back steel bracket.[quoted image]
You can buy the foam backers from the pin suppliers. But you can also buy a roll of the door trim foam tape at the hardware stores, too.
I can't tell if you have 3 blades installed so you can attach a diode but other than that your switch looks good to me.
So I finally got around to starting my scratch build on Star Gazer last week. I knocked the playfield out and began working on the cabinet today.
Does anyone have a recommendation for the blue color on the cabinet?
Also I painted the apron today but not certain I like the color...any thoughts? Also is everyone using the decal from Pinball Rescue? Does the yellow show up well or am I better off making a stencil?

I am currently restoring my Star Gazer and I use Ral 5017 paint. It looks really nice so far.

I had painted my apron the same shade blue as yours. I did not like it at all.
For my apron, I took the play field to the the auto paint supply store and had a color matched to the color of the play field. I did not try to match the color of the CPR plastics. This paint supply store has the ability to mix custom color paint and load it into a rattle can. The first can the color was off just a little but so I had to have a second can made up.
I also have the decal for the apron. It does not look too bad. But there is a problem with the decal. You will have to decide how picky you wish to be because this decal is the only game in town.
