OK... I did look. I see a wiki entry that makes that claim, but it cites the IPDB as a source. However, IPDB makes no mention of it. Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a definitive source? It just doesn't sound like Daniel Jackson to me....

Original coils are fine. Just rebuild with new coil stops, plungers/linkages, and sleeves. And, of course, clean/adjust or replace the switches if necessary.
