I wish someone had encountered the same issue.

I have the exact same problem, so your wish is granted .
The bad news is that I haven't fixed it (yet).
I did see a topic about this problem once though, but I'm not sure where it was. Can't help you at the moment, but once I get to work on the problem, I'll post it here (I hope you do the same). It might take quite a while though before I get to working on the game.
Good luck, I hope you'll be able to fix it!

Well !
It's a 50/50 situation.
I'm happy that i'm not alone to have that problem.
But as we won't be able to work on it at the same time...

Do u remember if that topic was on Pinside, or somewhere else? (did little point would rather make it a 60/40 )

What mods does everyone recommend for stargate??
I just got one, so I would like to see what's out there.

Doing a playfied swap on my Stargate...and a bit more. I was able to source a decent uninstalled, mostly populated playfield...although it was a sample playfield. I sent it to Chris Hutchins and he touched it up and cleared it, looks outstanding...so far I am pretty happy with how it is going back together. The underside is done...interestingly the top is taking much longer to reassemble.

Thank you. I can't wait to flip the switch and bring it back to life. A buddy of mine is working on an updated LED rope light solution. This being a sample playfield it was missing a couple posts so I had to add them. Also there is a second set of 89 light sockets inder the pyramid...the production playfield has the holes painted but not drilled out. I am debating whether to activate them or not.

Ha ha...I appreciate your interest, I just finished a complete restoration of my Andromeda last month and plan on keeping it in my collection for quite some time. Complete cabinet repair and repaint. Playfield was repaired by Chris Hutchins just like on Stargate. I figured I would get some crap about the yellow powder coat but I am quite happy with the appearance.

Okay, so i think i'm onto something (or at least I hope)
I'll need a little help.

So, in a nutshell, my pyramid doesn't lift during Glider mission.

Someone told me the MA1334 sensor board was in charge of this, on the french forum.
with this pic
Optocoupleur pyramide (resized).jpgOptocoupleur pyramide (resized).jpg
Notice that the wires that interest me are in 3 and 8.

Now, on my 2A15J1 connector, 8 is empty.

Hmm ! Thanks !
I realized I was looking at the wrong side of the playfield, thus the wrong board.
So i changed the MA2108 with a MA1338 without the jumper, but nothing changed.
Still no move from that bloody pyramid in game...

Thanks anyway @bonk

I just made my own Stargate RGB LED Ring. This one reacts to the game since the original had two modes, flashing and solid on.

cobra18t , installed you led Stargate ring, it's great, big fan. I assume it can take on some additional programming, colors, etc?

I would advise others to inquire about this if he has any left..

Thanks, @zen! I am glad you like it.

It is running an Arduino Pro Micro and can be modified with the Arduino IDE and the FastLED library. I can send you the code as a starting point if you are interested. I went with the original movie's blue water/white sparkle stargate, but it is easy to change to another color.

If anyone else is interested in a ring, let me know. I don't currently have all the parts so I would need to order a few things.

Replacing the right flipper switch and noticed the new one I got from Marco has 4 connection points where the original only has 3. The part numbers match up to PBRs listing. Can I still use this or should I order a different switch? Thanks for any help.

Update: Called Steve at Pinball Resource. This is the right switch and since there are two terminals together on the front row only one of them needs to have a connection. Was confused since the switch in my machine only had 3 terminals.

Yes, both ramps, both up-kicker housings (normally just steel) and the Apron. I have the decals for the ramps but am waiting to see if I like it better without them. Color is a metallic black...I forgot the actual name.

Powder coating those metal upkickers looks awsome! A few months ago i received a "new" playfield (the old one was sanded down and the playfield was digital printed on it). Soon I am going to start the rebuild, i am def getting the metal up kickers powder coated, looks really cool.

those ramp decals are so ugly, i am never going to put them back.

Hi Everyone.

Can you tell me if Stargate had a factory installed mylar for the main area of the playfield? I have almost pulled the trigger on this pin but am curious to know about this and if there is bubbling, especially at the inserts. I can't tell by the pics so far but I am supposed to receive more pics today or tomorrow.

Thanks.

#1284 4 years ago

Mine has mylar. I think it's safe to assume it was from the factory, but I don't know for sure.

#1285 4 years ago

Most gottliebs of this era had full mylar, since they didn't clear coat. The few I've seen that didn't all had major wear

#1286 4 years ago

Thank you both.

Quoted from zacaj:

Very interesting. This explains what appears to be separation from mylar above/around inserts in many of the pics that I have been finding.

hi...... I have owned a Stargate machine for the last 20 years. (40th birthday present.. thanks to my wife). Mostly played and now suffering entropy. I have moved 600 miles to the coast. The Gold Coast.

So with a bit more time on my hands I have started to love it more than just playing. First problem - new rubbers, now I am working on 22/32 - 3 wires are broken, the list is long but my time is a a bit more available. Next problem plastic ramp is being replaced. Left gate/kicker, bulbs, light rope...etc. Even going to replace U11, currently hitting with freeze spray to get machine going each time.

But I do love playing it so onward and upwards. Seen so many tips here which I am thankful for. My repairing journey starts in earnest. Elicon

Stargate Playfield swap/restore complete...I still have a few tweaks to make and issues to resolve...overall, I am satisfied with the results. I think I will tackle the rope light next.

I posted a while ago that I made an RGB LED Stargate Ring and people on this group requested that I sell it. Good news...it is now officially available on Pinside!

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1254-cobra-amusements/03706-stargate-rgb-led-ring-mod

If it goes out of stock, please let me know if you are interested so I can gauge how many more parts to buy.

As I have mentioned before, this is a great Stargate mod, you will be happy you bought one!! the only thing I wish it did was give me some purple sometimes just due to the theme, I couldn't program a vcr so I'm not capable, but I highly recommend this mod for the money, Cobra Amusements is a good investment!

Hi all, what’s the recommended paint to use to repaint the metal pyramid and are replacement ‘Stargate’ decals available for it? Mine could use a repaint and I’m thinking of using some quality spray paint and carefully misting it on to bring the original gold finish back.

Also, is there a source for the target decals? Mine are all torn up and I’m hoping a replacement set is available.

One of my Anubis ears is broken off, but I do see PBResource has replacements available on their website.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I had my pyramid plated gold/brass by Pinball Plating along with all of the wire-forms...Chris Royal. I suppose you can paint the pyramid as well. PBR has or had decal/sticker set for Stargate....which includes the "stargate" decal for the pyramid. I had a custom decal made down at the local flea-market.

Thank you. I found them on Steve's website: http://www.pbresource.com/pfplayf.htm#Stargate

Will try gold painting the pyramid before going the replating route, I think I can get it close to the original look.

Cobra, your mod looks great! I PM’d you. Mine had an LED strip in it when I bought it. I’ve never changed it because I love the blue, but definitely would like to now after seeing yours. It’s hard to tell from the video, but does yours have some sort of white between the led strip and the Stargate artwork? Looks like a frosted glass almost. Am I missing a piece in mine? Anyway. Look forward to hearing from you! Here’s a pic of what mine always looks like. Nothing ever changes except for the sunbeam like flickering with the original lighting.

Recently did a teardown on the playfield to clean and I also rebuilt the flippers. Since then I noticed the left ramp seems harder to it than it was before and I'm trying to narrow down the cause. Not sure if it was like this before but I'm getting a bounce on the upper flipper when the ball rolls down the right lane so when I go to flip the ball it's off the flipper and I'm not getting a full strength flip which I think could be why I can't make the ramp shot consistently. The still photo shows where I'd normally flip and just how far away the ball is at that point. Does anyone else's game do this? If you could post a picture of your flipper angle I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Mine did this too. It ended up being the L bracket on the back side of the guide rail(above the flipper) was broken. The one that secured the rail to the playfield.
My guide rail was no longer guiding the ball down the flipper anymore, as it was sitting back too far. I still haven’t fixed it. I ended up putting an old flipper rubber between the post(that sits behind the guide rail) and the guide rail.
It works for now. I haven’t had any issues except it vibrated loose once. I put it back and have played several games with no problems. I have contacted Steve from the pinball Resource and he didn’t have any guide rail replacements.
Maybe check to see if that’s your issue? Hope it helps.
