This is great! I just typed Atlantic City into the search and found this thread, thanks! I work in Margate all the time and was just wondering if there was anywhere I could go off to play some pinball every once in a while
How much for a game? Is there a decent place to park that you know of?

    #6 5 years ago

    YES!!!!!

I’m going to AC in a couple months for a 40th birthday party. I don’t drink, smoke or gamble...now I have something to do.

It's interesting visiting the Showboat Hotel. My understanding is, in it's heyday, the Showboat Casino was themed somewhat like Mardi Gras. Today, the casino is gone, and the casino floor is mostly empty, with the neon signage still lit for machines long-gone. Jackpot counters stuck on $0.00, and monitor screen powered on, but not connected to anything.

Pay no attention to the STTNG. It's not part of Starcade, and I'm not sure it works.

Next door to Starcade is a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course. The courses are laid out under ornate chandeliers (turned off) and colorful, flashing lights, advertising "Blazing 777" and "Quick Hit"

An old Cashiers window is now serving as the office for Starcade. Interesting juxtaposition with the Brass bars on the window, that looks in to a Jersey Jack Pinball neon sign!

Also, I've been told they are looking at getting a Jurassic Park pinball. Should be delivered within a week.

Back in the day before any of us were 21 me and my friends would go to the Showboat to play blackjack because they would never card anyone. Also, the Taj Mahal next door had free parking and it was connected to the Showboat so we could park free and then underage gamble

    #10 5 years ago

Sweet! Will definitely be checking this place out if I'm in the area.

I wish I would have known this as yesterday I was right there. According to their website it is $40 to play all day Which is steeper then the other places farther away in New Jersey. The only other option is $12 for 1 hour and $3 for each additional 15 minutes. What I like about the Silverball Museum in Asbury Park is $15 for 1/2 day, and they have a boatload of machines. Also the Silverball Museum was just voted the #1 attraction in New Jersey.

    #13 5 years ago

Thanks. Going to check it out

Recommend parking at Ocean Resorts (the former Revel) which is right next door to Showboat. Parking is free until Labor Day. Starcade was awesome and hands down, it is the best place to play pins on the shore. They were doing a special $10/day pass when I visited last week. I hope they start doing tournaments!

    #15 5 years ago

Very cool! I will definitely be patronizing this place. Thanks for sharing.

My alma mater, Stockton, originally bought the Show Boat to use as a large satellite campus in AC, until the neighboring Trump Taj Mahal stymied that plan by citing some ancient clause where casinos could only be used as casinos. I’m glad to see that it’s become home to something more important

I’m just glad this arcade didn’t exist when I was in college. I’d have spent approximately all my study time there.

Didn’t the Revel turn into the Hard Rock? I haven’t been on the ac boardwalk in years since the days when I worked at Trump Plaza

    #17 5 years ago

It was the former Trump Taj Mahal that's now the Hard Rock Hotel

For the next time you're in the area, we are running a special $10 all-day pass. While we may not have the quantity of machines that Silverball has, I like to think our collection is filled with great, playable titles that will keep customers coming back. We also offer a great range of video arcade machines (Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Defender, etc.), table games (billiards and shuffleboard) and are getting more titles every week! Hope to see you soon!

The games are all set to free play and the you pay for the time you spend here. We are currently running a special, $10 all-day pass. Otherwise it is $7 for 30min or $12 for 60min.

Parking is pretty rough, I think it's $20 for self-parking ($12 if you are a hotel guest) or $25 for valet ($15 if you are a hotel guest). My recommendation is to park in one of the many parking lots (most are around $5) on Pacific Ave and take a stroll on the boardwalk to the Showboat. Hope this helps!

I don’t want to talk about the summer being over but what do you think the hours will be after Labor Day? Some days I need time to kill between jobs and I can’t think of a better place to do just that!

    #21 5 years ago

When did the showboat re-open. I thought it was closed for good.

Well, this is definitely not a concrete schedule, but it would probably look something like this:

    weekdays: 12-8 or 10
    weekends: 11-11
    sunday: 12-6
and probably a day off somewhere during the week

We'll post our official off-season hours closer to Labor Day (on all social media and our website!)

And we're always willing to hear input from customers!

It reopened two years ago as a hotel. As of right now, the casino portion is closed for good, and the space it occupied is now leased out to places like us. A majority of the casino floor is kept open because the Showboat also hosts a variety of events, ranging from MMA fights to the vegan festival happening this weekend! There might even be some pinball tournaments in the future...

YESSSSS! Let's do it!!! Planning on swinging by tonight for more pre-Pinburgh practice. It'll be my third visit in a little over a week

    You guys have been busy!

I see your location up to date on pinside maps:

I got a chance to visit this weekend. Price was great. $10 all day pass. A couple pins were down (normal and no biggie). The biggest bummer was that about half the pins would get balls caught and had to really shake the machines to loosen them up. I figured it was normal since I did not tilt a single machine. Starcade has a nice line up but needs a little up keep.

Spent a really fun hour here in between jobs last week. Games were all playing great and I got to try quite a few pins I never played before. I got there as they were opening so I had the entire place to myself. I was a big Metallica fan when I was younger so that’s a game I always wanted to try. Can’t wait to go back! Only thing they need is a Monster Bash remake! Lol

    #28 5 years ago

A couple pins they have added that aren’t listed on the 1st post-

    Original Medival Madness
    The Addams Family
    Lethal Weapon 3

With some sadness, I must report that Starcade is closing their Atlantic City location. They will be moving to the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing.

Is this the same mall that has 3-4 pins in the Comic shop?
