Just curious if anyone has played both Star Wars the Pin and Thunderbirds? If so with both being “home pins” what are the differences? Build quality, game play, code, etc.

I would stay away from both but if you were going to pick one I would pick Star Wars Home Pin for the one and only reason that I don't believe Thunderbirds will get much support or parts in the future. Star Wars has parts from other Stern machines which will make them easier to find.

More curiosity than anything, Thunderbirds doesn’t get much love and I haven’t heard much about ‘the Pin’. I have not seen or played either one, is there a future for brand new ‘home pins’?

Is thunderbirds a "Homepin"? I thought that was just what the company was called...

    You might be right...

Thunderbirds .... I have played it. I tried to find joy and there was none to be found. The shots aren't satisfying and over all it's just clunky to shoot.
I rarely walk away from a live game but this one I did. There's a TON of older Williams games that can be had at affordable prices and are so much more fun. Not to mention parts are readily available to fix when needed.

Yes, Homepin is the name of the company that made Thunderbirds. Thunderbirds was not made to be a “home” version of game . Stern has made several “home “ versions of games and Star Wars home version is probably the best of those but for the money you are better off finding a used pro from Stern for a little more.

Correct. OP, Thunderbirds is technically a commercial game meant for coin collection in an arcade. Homepin just happens to be the name of the company.

The Star Wars home game is not meant for commercial operation.

That said, I think they’re both going to be of reasonably high quality. Thunderbirds is known to be pretty bad, but the build quality is pretty good as I understand.

If you’re simply looking to add a game to your home, however, don’t box yourself into games made for the home. Play them first, decide what you like, and go from there.

The F you talking about high quality? The Star Wars home Lin is made from MDF. Sneeze on MDF and watch it swell and bubble.

    I’ve played both.

You are comparing one pile of shit to another pile of shit.

If I had to choose though the home Star Wars by a landslide. Tb is just terrible and in no way fun. It’s tough to play all 3 balls even.

For what it's worth, I don't really think any pinball machine can really be accurately described as "a pile of shit". Sure, some machines are better than others, but it really annoys me when people go trashing other people's hard work. Why do you even bother?

Because one is made by a reputable company probably responsible for 90% of today's NIB sales, and the other is a legit pile of shit from a racist, homophobic asshat. And said pile of shit has a center ramp that had to be replaced because it didn't work (HTF does a ramp not work???), and I believe it still doesn't have a switch to award points or trigger sounds. It's just moves the ball to the back of the PF. Good way to allocate the central shot of your PF. Meanwhile the left hand side only has one real shot because the pops are horribly placed due to the pool lock and therefore both take up all the left hand real estate. And the right side looks equally boring. Also, I think the lock bar is made of paper mache.

DeadFlip did a SW Home stream a week or two ago. Granted he got to wizard mode I think twice in 2 balls, but at least it's a super popular Disney license in a functioning pin with half decent build, layout, and scoring. The other has more people saying "I walked away before ball 3" than BBBB reviews.

No one worked hard on tb. It’s an incomplete pos that they collected 5k each for. They didn’t even try and make a half decent game. Realized they in over their heads and shoveled this shit out the door to get paid and not sued.

Stick with stern love em or hate em

Attacks one game designer while owning a game made by a pedophile. I’d like to hear the rationale for that.

Thunderbirds have a reputation of being really bad so I would stay clear from buying it if I were you.

I haven't played it myself and if I were to find it on location somewhere I sure would put a coin or two into it to try it out, don't think it's a game good enough for home though.

There's more to the Homepin backstory than what is permitted to filter through on pinside.

SW home pin is actually a fun game, so it wins by default. That said, I would look for a Star Wars Pro or even a Star Trek or GOTG Pro instead. You can get them for just a little more cash.

Wow, just saw this in a search for something else. While acknowledging JT is a F'ing horrible person, are we now to burn all games that he had a hand into developing (that includes all Stern Ghostbusters, and the models of WWE and Mustang sold)? That would also include all BoP, JD, Flintstones, Black Rose, Congos, and many dozen others as well. There's a vast difference between owning a game made by a team of many talented people... one of which ended up being a terrible person worthy of his punishment and his parent company discontinuing all projects associated with that person, and another being a COMPANY who is selling new products to you right now, and headed and owned by an openly racist, homophobic a-hole.

Oh, and BTW while we're on the topic of pot calling out kettles, one of your top 10 is "made by a pedo".
