Can someone help explain (or show another post) what the strategy of the game is? I’ve read the wiki, but what strategies have people tried? Can anyone explain the general progression through the game? Much appreciated.

The wiki is currently the most comprehensive. http://tiltforums.com/t/star-wars-stern-rulesheet/2812/192

It's a deep game. Learn to use the multipliers. The club thread would be a likely source of info, as would YouTube tutorials like this one:

There are at least 5 valid tournament strats.
1. Leia, go for all mode shots
2. R2D2, stack death star and endor
3. R2D2, just death star
4. Han, hoth mb
5. Han, tattoine mb

I'm fairly familiar with the basic rules, but still learning code nuances, scoring, and best strategies. I have mode stacking turned off so I can better understand what's going on.

At this point, my typical strategy is fairly simple:

1. Build the shot multiplier value up
2. Keep it up (don't neglect shooting the target bank regularly)
3. Move the green X's to the applicable active mode shots
4. Hit the required mode shots
5. Don't drain

There’s one particular path that absolutely destroys the game (in comp mode too) but I have yet to see anyone provide the exact sequence to do this. If it’s executed properly on a normal set up pin, it’s usually a 10-20 billion point game. I’ll try to find my notes and post them up.

my strategy is r2 stack deathstar and endor then build ups ties go from death star mb to victory mb then to tie mb.. then sneak in a hyper mb. at that point you’ll pretty much have crushed any score you’ve done another really good one is getting up into the poppers and getting bonus held I got 1 billion point bonus last week by doing this.. stacking. moving the modifier. as far as which character honestly I have gotten some of my highest scores using hon solo some swear by r2 deaddrop says leia i think.
making sure you hit victory multi balls is a huge part... lots of Thai fighters is good as well my maximum or record I should say has been 165 ties.
