Anyone else had trouble with Hyperspace MB where once you shoot the 2nd ball into the loop, the 2 balls spin around until it times out? I tried replacing the 4 pairs of optos and it didn't fix it. Considering replacing the node board.
Stern support is stumped.

Have you tried replacing the balls? It's just a hunch, but maybe the balls are starting to magnetize or are losing too much density, which is throwing off the optos.

So it doesn't serve up another ball? I'd take a look at your trough in test. Maybe some balls aren't rolling down far enough because they are magnetized or loose plugs ect.

Thanks for the suggestions! I put new balls in and it seems like it might be working! But once there is 3 balls, it seems to get messed up and a ball or two will fall out of the loop, so I can't get to 4. I'll do more testing this weekend.

EDIT: Still not working. Changing out the balls didn't help. On rare occasion it might work and kick out the 3rd ball, but most of the time it doesn't.

So here's the confusing part. The problem is shooting a ball into the loop is not being recognized. You're not changing the number of balls in the trough-- it's still 4.
Still hoping someone can chime in that's had this problem and fixed it, other than changing the optos.

I did reseat the connectors on the node board back there as well, just yesterday.

Shot in the dark try re-flashing a new SD card maybe the game code became corrupted.

Yeah, I've done that as well.

Bump.
Any SW Premium/LE owners run into this and get it fixed?

Having same problem. Did you figure out?

It turns out it's a timer that runs when a ball enters the magnet tunnel. The ball must make it around the loop and back in the tunnel before it times out. So try adjusting the ramp on the left using the nut below the Death Star. Go into Hyperspace test and see if it's counting correctly.

I've passed this info along to Stern in hopes they can lengthen the timer a little.

Node board 11 is where the optos from the magnet tunnel are connected.
It probably drives the magnet coils as well.
When I first replaced mine it wasn't recognized because the dip switches were not set correctly.
