Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:Which is why Stern needs to abandon the fan going forward - it is boring as hell. If you own five Stern tables - each with 2 flippers in a fan layout using an Italian bottom, then you probably have four pins too many. As my wife says, "they all look alike". And I'd have to partially agree. No need to keep buying new, more expensive releases with the same old same old. If Stern wanted to copy something, they should look back over the long history of pinball and pick some. Better yet, select a layout from Zen Pinball. They have released 65 tables to date and at least 20 of them have a better layout than SW. (hint - not many are 2 flipper games).
I don't know why things can't come out that compare to some of the earlier pins. I played a Radical for the first time. Cool shots and plastic ramps even. Even Striker Extreme. Not sure why things like that can't be done. Not enough time to develop, cost? Not sure.
