Quoted from CrazyLevi:So the market is getting soft for the top 5% of the pinball market, + / -?
Providing that's true - and you've provided absolutely zero evidence that it is besides some wishful thinking - so what?
OK for evidence of it softening a little, you can look at the DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) Arcade Classifieds and craigslist. I'm seeing top end games sit and linger at prices that people thought were great 3 months ago and still think they are great (but not buying). The prices keep going down in order to get a sale to happen.
I've seen this in the last couple months with AMH, Spiderman, TAF, AC/DC Premium, a couple of ST Pros, etc. I think it's an indicator that people with cash at the higher end are wanting the newest games and not one a couple years old in HUO condition at a NIB price. Installed mods aren't commanding a premium in price like they once did either.
I think it's natural and nothing to worry. It'll settle out, but there does seem to be a limit on cash and space. I know I'm full and have spent too much on new games recently (and more I'd like to get). I'm guessing I'll lose some on my NIB purchases when I got to sell them later on, especially a game like RZ which is still struggling with code, and maybe my GB (if I ever sell) which just doesn't seem to get a huge amount of love when sold.
I'm ok with it, because I love playing the games in my house. However we are getting a lot more options to play pinball on location around us and honestly I think that will hurt the secondary market too. I don't really need all my games if there are places within 30 minutes that I can go play them. A few years ago there was really no option to play much locally.
