Quoted from flashinstinct:Their final product. Their responsability. No matter what argument you bring up it will always fall to the same statement. For example...if cabs are splitting then its stern responsibility to rectify the situation by advising their manufacturer that the end product is not compliant with their standards...same thing goes for playfields and everthing else they buy from another party. Each metal part goes theough an approval and inspection phase with a fail/pass. If stern decides to approvr the quality of a part then its on them. This applies to all manufacturers.
I had a cabinet split on another game. I notified Stern and my distributor, and ultimately received a new cabinet. Stern responded to me quickly, but I ultimately credit my distributor with making sure I was taken care of. The sky did not fall, Stern did the right thing in a professional manner, and big kudos to my distributor Little Shop of Games.
Had things gone differently with my other cabinet maybe I would have cancelled my LE, but they stood by their product and I'm personally impressed overall with what I saw in the latest DF stream.
