Question???
Does the SW home pin have the fan noise like the newer Sterns?
Is there a quiet fan kit?
Are there inner cabinet mounts for a 'fruit crate' like whoa nellie ?

Does it take the standard apron cards?
I am on the list for Heavy Metal.
I could use some more 'mature' apron cards.
I got my Heavy Metal today.
It has the 4 holes in the cab for a shaker.
Is the shaker supported for this title?
HM is a re-theme.
Slingshots twin fire.
Left side target is one big target.
Damn it scores low.
Really needs a colour dmd.
Oh it has a coin door,
Node board one.
The one with the clearly marked 'shaker motor' plug in the bottom right.
I know, cuz it blew out of my Aero when I plugged on my shaker.
Today, captive ball got a third ball in it.
There are only optos at the first 2 spots.
Game kept looking for the ball, would not release ball 4.
I was not in the room when it happened. I will have to really level this machine front to back.
I have it about half over the back line on the level.
I have a Heavy Metal.
I am looking for the part number of the SW homepin playfield optic switch.
It will be listed in the under the playfield parts page.
Was at the bottom of the list in my manual.
Thanks.
Stern has confirmed it is the same opto.
If you are parting out or have a spare capture opto PM me
There is a real lack of spare parts for this title.
I have been waiting over 2 months for a playfield optic switch from Stern warranty.
Be informed before you buy.
Coils stops are very easy to swap out yourself.
I have collected a long time and have never added seal to glass.
My dad made it clear to us as kids when he hung the dart board over the freezer.
'Something happens to this freezer, I gonna cut out your left nut with a rusty razor blade'.
No drinks on the machine, they make pin-gulp drink holders for that.
Keep an eye out in the local buy/sell for 'X-Wing' minis to put inside as a cheap easy mod with many, ships available.
Can I see a few pics if how you fixed the flaky locks?
Don't know if I really want to glue it down but if it fixes it.....
I had the flaky ball locks on Heavy Metal (re theme). I had a sheet of rubber rings. I cut some thin pieces from the tag and used them as 'spacer/ shock absorbers' on the opto board screws.
Working well a few test games in.
I did something similar to Heavy Metal.
Take outage opto board.
Put something on the screws to absorb shock.
I used some rubber gasket material, maybe a small square if layered duct tape for cushioning.
Replaced it and it is all fixed.
No more ghost ball captures.
I tried to get a capture opto for Heavy Metal, it was unobtainable, for a new build.
I had to send the opto out for repair.
I finally had my spare Capture Optos arrive from Stern.
Parts are finally flowing. I ordered them in June last year.
Always upgrade to the premium.
Pro is nice, but premium will be just, better.
I only went pro on my Aerosmith due to all the launching balls and damage that is going to surely happen.
They were debating a godzilla pro.
Or SW homepin.
If you do go with this title get a few extra capture posts (my capture is already needing a refresh) the blue rubber on the end of the lanes does not commonly come in the rubber kit either.
If you start getting flaky captures,
Add some cushioning to the capture board screws and that should absorb some of that contact shock.
Heavy Metal is the same layout with the shaker capability.
Go for a small video screen or some X-wing minis for mods
I have a thing for custom shooter rods on my titles.
I am just saying, if you were in my area and dropped by for a few games on Heavy Metal. You would be pretty good out of the gate.
I had this problem with Heavy Metal.
I added some rubber to the opto board screws to absorb some of the shock.
Tightened my lock post and called it fixed.
Double checked with the switch test to be sure my rubber was not too thick.
Been fine ever since.
I did get a PM that the problem was fixed.
Seems to be a common issue.
I watch this thread as Heavy Metal and this pin share the same playfield
Other wise HM comes in a standard spike 1 cabinet. Has access to spike 1 upgrades like shaker motor support.
Now which 3 inches are getting trimmed off the translight?
It will certainly add to the sound.
Looks pretty cool, but I don't see how it will retain or hold value.
At the end of the day it's not a SW Pro.
I could see trimmed comic art blades or a trimmed comic art wrap adding more value.
X-wing models, or other added ship models are always cool.
I added a lit welcome to Vegas sign to Elvis.
Just my 2 cents.
I would suggest adjusting the foot casters
Sounds too high in the back.
I kept knocking off the ramp cover out of the tabs until adjusting.
I think they made way too many homepins.
I recall my distributor had at keast 4-5 on the floor.
Had the same with The Beatles sales here in Canada were lower than they must have expected. Cost difference to a Pro was not much and resale down the road is faster (in my area).
The production run was long.
Backlog for full size models is almost caught back up, and will always be their Bread and butter.
I just installed LED flipper buttons in my HM, they clipped to the start button.
First one was a pain,
Second set was easy after the learning on set one.
I may have to add some black tape to cut the excess light bleed inside.
