Quoted from JOESCHALL:

Does anyone know if there is also a Spider-man Home Edition Club? Just acquired that game along with my SW and JP Home Editions, but I'm not finding one for the home Spidey.

It’s cool that you got to snag one. They don’t seem to come up all that often. Looks like a fun game

#302 1 year ago

It seems one of the quirks of these home pins is that people will want to play one before they drop that kind of coin on a machine but being as they are only in people's houses there isn't really a place to play test them to see if you are really interested. I wonder if that has hurt sales?

Added some miniature figures from the Star Wars X-Wing game to the playfield. Three X-Wings flying towards the Death Star and Slave-1 just chilling looking cool.

What did you use to attach them? Just join the club and looking to do something similar with Tie fighters!

Yes, it would seem so. Having owned all three, I can tell you that the SW HE and JP HE are definitely both a cut above the Spidey. I am told by a company rep that there is likely another HE in the works--He-Man.

He-Man would be really great if true, and if it were based on the original.

Indeed. That's what I was told as the likely next HE by a distributor from whom I have bought numerous pins. Nothing confirmed yet, but I like the idea.

Hello SW home pin owners. I hope you will help me with a question: Does the home pin have plug-n-play capability for a shaker motor? I have a friend that just got the home pin- & he loves it! I have a Mando with a shaker, & he would like me to add one to his home pin. Doable? Thanks very much!

No shaker motor support. There is also no cabinet node to connect it to.

Heavy Metal is the same layout with the shaker capability.
Go for a small video screen or some X-wing minis for mods
I have a thing for custom shooter rods on my titles.

Heavy metal is the same layout, but different cabinet with a lockdown bar and coin mechs, and different architecture (Spike vs the newer Spike 2).

I am just saying, if you were in my area and dropped by for a few games on Heavy Metal. You would be pretty good out of the gate.

Does anyone know if a code update was released? Ever? It looks like it could be updated...

#314 1 year ago

Just joined the club (Christmas present for my son)! I realize that these are built differently than my other commercial pins are. So, what mods or add-on's have you been successfully able to add to your home pin? I already have the art blades and flipper bat toppers.

Edit...Its still in the box and I haven't looked at it yet.

Same code since launch, and extremely unlikely to be updated unless they add insider support which is just as unlikely.

Some things you can do (they are from my Jurassic Park home pin, but they work here too)

Can you post a link where you got those blades and bat toppers?

Stern doesn't make a specific set for the home pin. So any Star Wars set will work, but you will probably have to cut your own holes for the back box bolts. I bought the comic art model pin and the matching set of blades. There are other sets out there if you search.

I suspected so, but good to know someone has done this. Thanks. I know some of the cabinet dimensions differ between the Stern's commercial and home pins, but I don't have access to one to compare. So you've installed the blades? How do they look?

I haven't since this is a Christmas present and it hasn't been unboxed yet. Look back at post #131 & #132 in this thread and here for pics...

Did you add the cabinet speaker? I followed the instructions from the link to the letter and can't get any sound out of the cabinet speaker. Wondering if I missed something or if maybe the Star Wars programming doesn't have the cab speaker supported.

Anybody else have any luck adding the cabinet speaker in a SW Home pin?

#325 1 year ago

Art Blades, cabinet speaker, flipper bat covers, and couple of extra Tie Fighters installed. Art blades turned out great considering you have to “move” the hole to fit them on the home pin.

I have also added a left and cabinet speaker. The left speaker works great but the cabinet speaker dousnt give a sound while i’m pretty sure the wires are ok. I suppose its not supported. Hopefully there wille be a software update someday.

You have to drive the cabinet speaker from the left speaker channel since the output is mono by default. JP got a code update and the cabinet channel was enabled at that time. Sorry about that

You other option would be to use one of the Pinnoovator boards that people use to get 3.5mm headphone line out as an input for a small amp (like this https://www.amazon.com/ASHATA-Stereo-Amplifier-Digital-Speaker/dp/B07FL9MJ9M/ref=sr_1_19) and let that drive the cabinet speaker if you already have a 2nd speaker in the head. You can even wire the amp into the input terminals to the power supply so it turns on and off with the pin. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback. I figured that was probably the case, but was hoping maybe SW got the same update. I will reroute them to the left channel and report back.

If you take the playfield out, about 10 mins to put them in. It took 20 mins to "move the hole" to the right spot. I saved the paper backing from the end that the hole is on, so i'll try and upload something later that you can print as a template for cutting out the new hole you need. Do it carefully and you can use the cut out to plug the old hole which is what I did. If you look close enough you can kinda see it, but you have to look hard.

No problem. I completely forgot that JP had those tweaks in the code update. I think the timing just worked out because there was a high score bug, and I happened to ask Jack on here if there was any chance they could enable the cabinet pins and the fade function before they released the patch. I also updated my original response with another solution to get you there.

Anyone had a problem with R2D2 multiball sensor? Mine seems to be awarding the multiball and falsely registering ball captures during play. Any idea where to start with this? I have a local pinball service rep, but they say it will be a while before I can even get on the schedule. If it is something easy, I might try to do it. Any idea where to start?

Agreed. Also see if the physical switch the ball sits on is loose or getting stuck. Go into switch test and activate that switch and see what happens.

#335 1 year ago

I had this problem with Heavy Metal.
I added some rubber to the opto board screws to absorb some of the shock.
Tightened my lock post and called it fixed.
Double checked with the switch test to be sure my rubber was not too thick.

Been fine ever since.

They are opto switches #48 & #53. Probably need to be cleaned or adjusted as they may be loose.

I did get a PM that the problem was fixed.
Seems to be a common issue.

I watch this thread as Heavy Metal and this pin share the same playfield
Other wise HM comes in a standard spike 1 cabinet. Has access to spike 1 upgrades like shaker motor support.

Hello, if anyone has ever wished their home pin had a larger screen, I've created an upgrade kit. It features the same speaker panel with 15.6" LCD screen found in the Pro/Premium/LE models with all hardware, components and templates to make the conversion to your home pin look like it came from the factory that way. The kit is now live in the marketplace - https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/153887

That's cool, pricey but cool

#343 1 year ago

Now which 3 inches are getting trimmed off the translight?
It will certainly add to the sound.
Looks pretty cool, but I don't see how it will retain or hold value.
At the end of the day it's not a SW Pro.
I could see trimmed comic art blades or a trimmed comic art wrap adding more value.
X-wing models, or other added ship models are always cool.
I added a lit welcome to Vegas sign to Elvis.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. I understand it's not the cheapest mod, however, in addition to getting all of the components to work, I've tried to source them as the best prices. To keep the mod looking stock (and it really does look stock), the parts come at a premium.

On my JP Home Pin, I had to cut some off the top and bottom, to keep certain things from looking weird or cutoff. On the SW home pin, I think you'd have to cut off he bottom only, because of the logo position at the top. On the comic home pin, it's likely the same. I don't think these home pins will hold their value, just look at how the prices have plummeted over the past several months on the resale market. This mod does make the experience better, no it will never be a Pro or Premium, but the 15.6" screen and ability to add larger speakers with proper sized openings does make a big impact.

Which one are you looking at? You can change the shooter rod only, but not the housing. There is no room under the lockbar to mount it.

Added this mod over the weekend to a SW HE and I love it. The installation instructions from Chris were detailed and excellent, and it makes a huge difference in the game in both video and audio. There is no deterioration of quality in the video and now it's so much easier to read the text and enjoy the movie scenes, and the audio quality is so much better as well, with the nuances of the music and speech much clearer. After installation, I had the original glass and translite cut down to size at a local framing shop rather than going the plexiglass route. I have another SW HE coming soon, so I'll likely make a video of them side by side and post it to show the contrast of the original monitor versus this mod. But for now, a few pix are below, including showing the rear of the original monitor and speaker panel versus the new. Yes, it's pricey mod, but I think it adds a lot to the game and is well worth it.

Glad to answer any questions for anyone considering this option.
